English Grotesque is based on the proportions of an early 20th century signwriter’s sans, emphasising the characteristic idiosyncrasies of type of the period. Sharing a similar Roman circle-and-square construction as Gill Sans or Johnston Railway, it has a wide T and W, a narrow S, and a long-tailed R. The Roman alphabet did not include a lower-case, and therefore early sans-serifs tended to base theirs on handwritten or cursive models, resulting in more even character widths. English Grotesque, by contrast, carries the more characterful proportions of the capitals through to the lower case. Available in six weights, with optional alternative versions for the Q, &, £ and J.

Of the many lettering gurus who published chapbooks on handlettering during its heyday, one of the most prolific was H. C. Martin. This quirky poster face was offered in one of his many Idea Books, and it remains as fresh and frolicsome today, some seventy years later, as when it first appeared. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

Pusekatt means Pussycat in Norwegian. It was finished on a rather gloomy monday, which reminded me of Norway and I just like cats. There you have it: the naming of fonts explained. It ain't rocket science for sure! There is nothing gloomy about Pusekatt font: it is a very lively, happy and useful poster face. DT Squished Stuff is a font made for fun. This uneven simple blocky sans-serif font has wonky letters that adapt automatically and change shape to fit against their neighbours. Use with contextual ligatures turned on to allow Squished Stuff to operate correctly. If a particular letter decides to do something that you don’t want it to, turn ‘contextual ligatures’ off for that letter. But do remember to turn it back on afterwards. Initially an experiment in vertical calligraphy, Mama Script was developed by drawing on multiple sources of inspiration. These range from simple swashy handwriting, lettering and signage, to the works of renowned calligraphers. This script likes to stand out everywhere it appears. Mama Script comes with a full set of alternates, as well as many ligatures for precise display use and a simulated balance between the hand and the machine.

NF Elena was designed by Nikolay Savchuk. NF Elena was created on base Katerina sans-serif typeface. It is brilliantly suited for graphic design and display use and perfect for magazines, newspapers, books, websites, brand identity, and advertising.

The Yearling fonts are inspired by old propaganda poster letter forms of the 20th century. However, they're also intended to work well in modern communications as well. Yearling was originally created to look good via fax (LOL!), and because it's based on a very rigid grid (like pixels on your screen), this font family also works well on smartphones and modern tablets, too. Short on curves and diagonals, these letterforms are a celebration of horizontal and vertical. But most importantly, this font is simple and clean and clear and direct. Handsome, adventurous, legible and elegant, this script has the feel of practical handwriting from past centuries. Aquiline is based on a cursive italic style influenced by the 16th century European writing masters. The Aquiline design team turned to Ludovico degli Arrighi, the great 16th century writing master, for period ideas on how to improve, strengthen and add grace to the font. Aquiline has strokes and gestures that seem very like the writing of Arrighi and Mercator, such as the flamboyant balloon of a flourish on the cap A; the graceful flourishes on the cap B, D, and L; and the compact lowercase with tall ascenders. Aquiline has a strong personality and is historically correct.

A condensed and bold obround sans inspired by 60s condensed inserat faces, with a more pronounced thick/thin stress as seen on the titles of the Avengers TV show.

Gothico Antiqua is the result of grunging up one of my early sans-serif type designs. It strangely works very well and looks authentic at small to medium settings.

Revue is a display face originally designed for Letraset. The heavy sans serif letterforms of this font are ideal for use in signage, on posters and in advertising display.

The above-the-store signage for many newspaper stands, soda shops, candy stores, luncheonettes and pharmacies of the 1950s and early 1960s were what was referred to as “privilege signs” provided by one of the major cola brands. Consisting of the brand’s emblems on the left and right, the remainder of the sign would carry the desired message of the storekeeper (such as “Candy – Soda – Newspapers”) in prismatic, embossed metal letters. Inspired by these vintage signs, Privilege Sign JNL recreates the condensed sans serif lettering style in both regular and oblique versions. The typefaces are solid black, but adding a selected color and a prismatic effect from your favorite graphics program can reproduce the look and feel of those old businesses.

German type designers Johannes Erler and Henning Skibbe created this pi and symbols FontFont in 2009. The family has 12 weights and was one of the first symbol typeface for a new generation.It has one of the largest collections of contemporary symbols and icons for office communication.

PiS Hansch has its origin on a small graveyard in Salzburg, Austria. The hand-carved epigraph on a weathered tombstone inspired PiS to create this slightly twisted serif monster. In the last five years I wrote love letters with two persons. I became used to the joy of handwriting with ink and nib on fine paper. Through practice a experimentation my style continuously refined. As life moves on, suddenly I found myself with no one to write love letters to. It's a luxury to have someone to write letters to. Missing the joy of writing and listening to Gregory Porter’s “Be Good”, the decision was made to take this 5 years of writing and make this dance on paper a font. The hand lettered title on the cover for the (ca. 1917) sheet music for “After the War is Over” provided the design inspiration for National Nouveau JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. A precursor to the Art Deco movement which would arrive within the next decade, this bold thick-and-thin design embraces the elements of both Art Nouveau and Art Deco in one type design and gets its name from the patriotic spirit of America during “The Great War”.

Down in his secret underground font laboratory, mild mannered John Roshell was tinkering with his iPad when the Apple Pencil suddenly bit him and he found himself feverishly creating letterforms on the tablet... Before long his hand was burning and glowing with superspeed — his penstrokes were longer than one-eighth of a mile; he was suddenly able to letter a twenty-story omnibus with newfound fontastic strength and could create tremendous weights with more leading than an express train... And thus was born: ORIGIN STORY!

The sheet music for the 1934 tune "Two in A Dream" had the title hand lettered in a bold type style that utilized some stencil and some solid lettering. Following through on the stencil portion of the design, Tuxedo Stencil JNL was created in both regular and oblique versions. The 1930s were the era of elegant supper clubs and night spots, and it was not unusual to find gentlemen all decked out in formal wear for an evening on the town, hence the font's name.

The cover of the 1904 sheet music from the Tibetan comic opera “The Forbidden Land” had the title hand lettered in an unusual Art Nouveau style. Mostly squared with rounded corners, many of the characters twisted, turned and extended in ways that took on the look of the Far East. This became the design model for Nouveau Moderne JNL, which is available in regular and oblique versions.

The hand-lettered title on the poster for the 1933 musical comedy film “Melody Cruise” was rendered in an Art Deco thick-and-thin style with ‘engraving lines’ placed within the letters.
