The German designers Gerd Sebastian Jakob and Jörg Ewald Meißner developed the Linotype Puritas family in 1999. Robert Hunter Middleton drew the original design of Stellar for the Ludlow Typograph Company in Chicago. Work began in the late 1920s, when Middleton was asked to create a sans serif type family to compete with European imports of Futura and Kabel. Stellar was Middleton's attempt to raise the ante. Where Futura and Kabel were geometric in design and monotone in weight, Stellar was based on roman character proportions and stroke weighs were stressed. In the late 1990s, Dave Farey took on the task of reviving the Stellar design. While Ludlow cut Stellar in a full range of point sizes, the family was limited to just a roman and bold design. Farey's revival is twice as large a family. It ranges from a very light called Stellar Nova to a very bold called Zeta In between are Lyra and Epsilon.

These four typefaces, Berlinette NB, Lyonette NB, Marseillette NB and Parisette NB, were designed from the same basic shape, a geometric form that avoids strict horizontals and uses more offbeat triangular shapes. Lyonette is a fanciful type, gentle and precocious. It seems aloof at times but isn�t really. The frivolity and quirkiness of the narrow width is offset by the fey, finger-like horizontals, vaguely reminiscent of strange encounters and dark closets. It�s great for fashion advertising with literary pretensions. Or maybe a kinder, gentler sci-fi movie.

Usually fonts that are related to computers, space, future are not handmade, but rather digital made. Autoray is 100% handmade, and I am not sure which category it fits in. It has this futuristic and intergalactic look, but at the same time the handmade details are pointing in a more grafitti and comic way. I will let you decide where to go with Autoray! Space Mode is a multi-weighted typeface, sent back in time from the distant future. PT Petroglyph™ was designed by Ekaterina Kulagina and licensed by ParaType in 2002. The type was created on the basis of petroglyphs (rock-carvings) that are known in 77 countries. They remained in a form of geometrical drawings in the caves of North Spain and France. Scientists claim that the radial spread-out of circles or center-pointed circles that are usually depicted show the development of solar symbolism at that period of time. We know for sure that such mysterious signs as drawings carved on rocks already existed 40 centuries ago.

Modern Elvish is a humanist sans serif typeface created for the Tengwar “English” mode as popularized in the Lord of the Rings books and films. I imagined the famous elves of this lore living in contemporary times and needing a no nonsense modern typeface for their branding, communications and UX design. Use this typeface for your RPG, LARPing or Cosplay needs. This typeface uses advanced font features such as ligatures and contextual alternates to convert any English text. I would recommend typing in English first, then converting to a font of this typeface.

Legitima is a text font family inspired by the types found in the 3rd edition of the Italian book La Cicceide Legitima, printed in 1695. Its weight and x-height, optimized for 10 point-size, make it an ideal choice for book design and anything with running text. Like most typefaces from the 16th century, the strokes that constitute Legitima seem to depart from the traditional broad-nib pen model of handwriting and dare to explore the shapes produced by the techniques in use by punch-cutters of the time.

This sans serif type was completed in 1985, a descendant of the earlier serifed Congress shown for the first time at the Association Typographique International Congress, which proved to be so popular in 1980 at Kiel; designed to present a style equally appealing in European languages. Many characters are more condensed than is usual, while others have been exaggerated. The concept being to bring an equality of importance to the whole, producing a collection of International characters working together in harmony on the page-a common aim that Europeans wish of any Congress.

This font set was created in collaboration with the Philadelphia Museum of Art to coincide with the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary. This font set includes faithfully reproduced letterforms digitized directly from images of impressions made by Benjamin Franklin and his printing office circa 1750. The printing conditions of the time involved handmade paper with textured surfaces and handmade inks which were hand-applied for each impression. By digitizing the printed type in its real-life state, an authentic look of Franklin's actual work is achieved and, ultimately, has a timeless appeal.

“Tropical Type” was Alf Becker’s 148th submission to “Signs of the Times” magazine (a publication for the sign trade) where for years Becker would provide a monthly lettering design to inspire other sign writers. This particular design has more of a Far East flair to it, and was redrawn digitally as Travel East JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. Sybilla is a robust, but friendly, humanist slab serif well suitable for broad range of design projects. A true workhorse and superb text type family, Sybilla was especially designed with legibility in mind. Its soft almost cursive shapes and generous internal spaces define a slab serif that is easier on the reader’s eye and help establish a feeling of warmth and friendliness. The type family consists of eight weights with complimentary italics. While the Light, Book, Regular and Medium weights are great performers for body text, the Thin, Bold and Heavy weights make an excellent choice for headlines. Paradox Runa is based on the futhark, norse elder runes. “Missing” characters has been replaced with either other “real” runes, or “new” ones have been “invented” so that the font hold all characters for the latin alphabet (A-Z + swedish Å Ä & Ö) + “Numbers” 0-9. I do not claim that this rune alphabet is totally authentic nor correct! All upper and lower-case letters are the same except for the letter S. “Ligatures” have been created for the th, ng and eo sounds. These are accessed by writing TH, NG and EO (in upper case letters). Space is automatically replaced by a ‘colon’ (':') - if you want a “real” space, write an underscore! (open type version of the font and open type compatible layout application required). Paradox Runa goes perfect with the font Paradox X (regular yet enigmatic hand drawn latin letters)!

Duct tape is one of the most versatile adhesive materials known today. From fixing the bumper of your car that keeps falling off, to creating a sturdy wallet. From alternative wrapping to sticking a friend to the wall, Duct tape is there. And it will stay there. It will stick to anything and hold for a very darn long time too! The cloth-backed tape was invented some time during World War II, and also proved itself useful as a base material for lettering. VLNL Duct was originally designed by DBXL as a logo for temporary Amsterdam restaurant BAUT. DBXL imagined an owner taping the name on the window of his shop using Duct tape. The font was used for all communication of the restaurant. Duct is a sturdy, rough all-caps typeface that will stick to anything.
