Paneuropa 1931™ is a faithful recreation of XX-century Polish classic, made by Idzikowski foundry in Warsaw, 1931. Original Paneuropa was a renowned and highly popular typeface in XX-century Poland, and was widely used in all kinds of design, editorial use and printed materials for decades. Paneuropa is a geometric, clean and versatile font family inspired by Paul Renner's famous Futura - it is a bit narrower, with different proportions and details in drawing, completely different figures and punctuation shapes than Futura. Vitrines is a digital and extended version of a charming alphabet featured in a 1913 book devoted to window signs and show cards. This version was carefully developed to preserve the original hand lettered look and feel. It includes a bold weight and a set of pattern tiles to adorn your compositions. A note about the pattern font: in order to create even patterns, be sure to set the line spacing the same size as the font and set no spaces before or after paragraphs.

In order to offset ink spread – which is inevitable when printing very small sizes of type – Brevier has large white spaces between the letters. All internal angles have deep ink traps and many connections have been left open.

The quite dark Book style works well on e-ink displays which usually tend to thin out letters, as well as in print when you want to evoke the solid letter image of the hot-metal type era. FF Hertz is a uniwidth design, that means each letter occupies the same space in all weights. This feature allows the user to switch between weights (but not between Roman and Italic styles) without text reflow. Jens Kutilek began work on FF Hertz in 2012. From a drawing exercise on a low-resolution grid (a technique proposed by Tim Ahrens to avoid fiddling with details too early), it soon evolved into a bigger project combining a multitude of influences which up until that point had only been floating around in his head, including his mother’s 1970s typewriter with its wonderful numbers, Hermann Zapf’s Melior as well as his forgotten Mergenthaler Antiqua (an interpretation of the Modern genre), and old German cartographic lettering styles. Jens likes to imagine FF Hertz used in scientific books or for an edition of Lovecraftian horror stories.

Ranger Rays Rocketeers SRF was originally a freeware font on Jeff Levine's old site, but needed a lot of reworking and cleanup to be user-friendly. Jeff did all of the fixes and provided this charming retro-style font of space-age dingbats to the Stella Roberts Fonts project. When letterpress started with the Gutenberg Bible, the typeface was like a texture. Before humanism, type did not really need to be legible. The letters were rather drawn in an ornamental way. It filled a space. My idea for Matrona was to create a similar structure. I wanted it to be very bold and still as legible as possible. The result was a headline typeface that can fill spaces. You can even fill it with a picture. Or you create an ornament with contents. There are 3 weights to extend the usage to different sizes.
