The word Zawiya in Arabic language means Angle in English language. "Zawiya" is a Kufic modern square-shaped Arabic typeface. The typeface has only right-angled angles which makes it full of open and closed squares and free from any curves or arches. This font comes in two different weights. I am originally an engineer and I have liked to draw geometric shapes since my early childhood. I decided to design a typeface that embodies both of the technical and artistic human that I have inside me. The main characteristic of "Zawiya" Typeface is in its modern and attractive right-angled and square-shaped styles for its all-Arabic characters. The character "Faa" is one of its most distinguished characters that I myself adore it so much. "Zawiya" Typeface is suitable for books' covers, advertisement light boards, titles in magazines and newspapers, posters, greeting cards, cards, covers, satellite channels, exhibitions' signboards and external or internal walls of malls or metro's exits and entrances, geometric instruments and tools, technical devices, computers and laptops, IT and electric devices and also calculators. Mark van Bronkhorst designed MVB Celestia Antiqua at a time when font choice was limited. Design was characterized by overuse of the few fonts that came with laser printers. A rustic typeface, recalling the roughness and irregularity of pre-digital printing, was a response to the cold crispness of DTP. MVB Celestia Antiqua holds its own among a large group of other “weathered” serif fonts, in part due to the size of the family: three weights, small caps, italics, and two titling styles. But it's also successful because it's simply drawn well, the contours only as rough as they need to be, enabling text at any size, large or small.

Home Run Script has the formality of 18th-century English roundhands, narrow, tightly fitted and drawn in a very bold weight and inspired by my ITC Eclat font. The x-height is large, and the caps are simply drawn with minimal swashes. Its companion font Home Run Sanscript, sold separately also, has sans serif caps that enable the user to combine script and sanserif caps with the same slope. It has the same lowercase as Home Run Script with a few alternate characters and sans serif lining and Oldstyle figures. Both Young Finesse and Home Run include Richard Isbell’s “interrabang,” appropriately used for statements that are both interrogative and exclamatory.

“Kamenica” - named after a beautiful small mountain river in Serbia - is a font family containing 3 weights: Light, Regular and Bold. The Kamenica river is only a few meters wide. Mostly shallow and cold, clear and green, it was the direct inspiration source for the creation of this condensed typeface. As our other typefaces, “Kamenica” also combines traditional shapes with modern forms, tall x-height and a collection of more than 300 glyphs. Comparing the river with the font, we could say that letters are the fishes that lives in the Kamenica river and that the font weights are the seasons in which this river shows most of its own character.

An old ad for Cointreau Triple Sec Liquor featured a bolder variant of the lettering style found in a set of vintage tin stencils that were the model for French Stencil JNL. Berling is an old style typeface based on the classical Venetian model used by Aldus Manutius at the end of the fifteenth century. Berling was first cut by the Berling foundry in 1951 with further weights released in 1958. The Berling font family is intended primarily for setting text in books~ journals and magazines.

Thalia is a wonderful Artdeco typeface design reminiscent of 1900. Very likely, it was originally designed at that time. Unger redesigned the typeface based on old prints, completed the character set and expanded the typeface to cover the full Latin glyph set. Mic 32 New Stencil is the third variation of the popular Moretype family Mic 32 New. This stencil version provides an industrial flavour to the futuristic rounded geometry of Mic 32 New. Tandpasta is danish for toothpaste. I was inspired by an old commercial for toothpaste, and since the only letters I had to work with was "Toothpaste" I had to use my imagination, to come up with the rest. I used a slightly blurry pen, leaving the lines of Tandpasta somewhat uneven, but still legibe.

OpenType users benefit from alternate lowercase characters, crossbar ligatures for common letter pairings, case sensitive quotes and smart apostrophes. Other goodies include optional old style numerals and a few clip-on swash elements, accessible by keyboard or supporting application’s OpenType glyph menu. Meritage Pro extends the character set to support Eastern European and Baltic languages.

Sans serif characters re-drawn from old newspaper headlines (and used in the design for Late Breaking News JNL) were given a slab serif treatment in order to create a condensed type face with both grotesk and block influences. The end result is Tabloid News JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

An Art Nouveau alphabet that has stood the test of time, Nicholson French, by legendary sign-painter Frank H. Atkinson, is over 100 years old and going strong. Athenaeum was released in 1945 by Alessandro Butti and Aldo Novarese, probably for the Niebolo foundry in Turin, for whom this duo designed many successful types. Athenaeum is an Old Style face with strong calligraphic influence. The Athenaeum font family includes a set of decorative initials illustrated with a symbol beginning, resembling early paper watermarks.

Mama Bear is a playful, neat, children's book typeface. It is cute and happy, very legible and comes with extensive language support, including the 'schwa' glyph found in a handful of languages. Mama Bear was inspired by my 16 month old son, who loves his fluffy bear and likes to play hide and seek.

“Grendel Regular” Evolved out of a hand lettering piece I designed for a record album (Royal Crescent Mob). Inspired by old gothic forms, my intention was to create a playful letter form that could be used in an antique as well as a modern context such as food product packaging or fun video projects, etc.

WL Dot Matrix is another typographic flashback to computing of the mid 1980s, when 9-pin dot-matrix printers were the state of the art. Compatible with the cleaner WL Rasteroids family, WL Dot Matrix explores some of the common failure modes of old printers: smudging ribbons, slipped tractor feeds, and gummed up print heads.

Jeff Levine took Crown Heights JNL [named after his childhood neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY] and gave it a make-over; transforming it into a Western-style all-caps display face called Homesteader JNL. The point of interest being the rounded characters: C, G, O and Q - usually not as geometric in Old West typography.
