Cicero was the first typeface designed by Thierry Puyfoulhoux in 94. It is what could be called a semi-serif. Only the serifs which occur naturally when drawing letters with a flat nib pen have been retained. The absence of certain serifs allows for much tighter spacing. The remaining serifs still stabilize the baseline, although less effectively than a "full-serif" typeface. By borrowing features from both the sans and serif styles, Cicero truly stands at their crossroads.

Linotype Schnitz is part of the Take Type Library, selected from the contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. Designed by the Finnish artist Osmo Niemi, the characters seem to contain no round forms at all. Linotype Schnitz looks as though it were chiseled and has an angular, almost brittle feel. The restless and lively appearance makes Linotype Schnitz particular well-suited to headlines and shorter texts with point sizes of 12 and larger.

Kidcut is a typeface created by cutting glyphs out of paper with scissors. The shapes are irregular, giving the impression of being cut out by a child. This in-yer-face kinda face is based on a broad brush font from "The New ABC of Showcard & Ticketwriting" by C. Milne, published in Australia in the late 1930s. Brought to my attention by Ms. Kat Black, and named in honor of Ms. Kat's grannie, to whom the book originally belonged. The Postscript and Truetype versions contain a complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252); in addition, the Opentype version supports Unicode 1250 (Central European) languages as well.

Isbellium is a sans serif version of Dick Isbell’s Americana type, designed in 1967 and the last type cut in metal by the American Type Founders Co. (ATF). Isbellium retains the large x-height, open character, wide stance and elegance of Americana, but with a quieter voice and polite authority. PF Libera was designed at a time of leisure with no particular intention for commercial use. In fact it was offered in the beginning as a freeware. In 2001, designer Charis Tsevis was convinced that it may have some commercial value, so Parachute obtained the rights to sell this typeface. At that time, we did not even imagine what would follow. This font is an orphanage where all the beautiful details of classical grotesque typefaces from the early twentieth century are gathered, and thus living together, are forming a ‘new’, happy family. The aim was to collect my favorite characters in one font. The start was an eclectic collection orientated on British types from the Caslon Doric No. 4, the Monotype Grotesque, the Gill, the Franklin Gothic up to the Transport. In this amalgamation I avoided the narrow apertures in the ‘e’, ‘c’ and in the numerals ‘5’, ‘6’ and ‘9’ and enlarged the x-height dramatically. To the classical slanted form of the italics I added real italic forms for ‘a’, ‘e’ and ‘g’ in order to obtain a more distinguished italic style.
