Imperio is a font inspired by old posters, especially those related to constructivism and futurism. It reflects both the rationalism of Bauhaus as a propagandist and revolutionary spirit of an era. On the other hand it is not nostalgic, but instead looks for its own way to get diagonals where there was rigidity. The poster itself is the language of graphic design, and geometry is its ally. This font aims for that goal. It has two variants that derive from its source. Imperio Giga Black attempts to be a negative typography, starting with the black and then searching for small windows in which they begin to uncover the morph. This is an extreme and modern font. Imperio West is a metamorphosis of the original one, with decorative details which transform it into a typeface of wood and saloon font. In all cases we recommend its use in large sizes (up to 20pt) and main titles. Imperio UltraBlack can work in smaller sizes than Imperio Regular.

RoyalBavarian was comissioned by King Ludwig the First of Bavaria about 1834. He was probably the greatest king Bavaria ever had, but he fell in disgrace for a short affair with the infamous Lola Montez and subsequently had to resign. He died in 1868, peaceful and happy in Nice on the French Riviera. I happened on an original etching of his type-guidelines for official writers of those days about 20 years ago. I always thought it was a very nice Fraktur (Blackletter), not a sturdy militaristic one as most of them are. Being me, I started with first tests immediately and then just forgot the font on my computer. When I was sorting out old stuff a couple of months ago I happened on the etchings once again and kept on working intermittently on the letters. The Plain cut is pretty much like the king wanted it. “My Dearest Friend” is how she began nearly all her letters to her husband, John. I refer, of course, to Abigail Smith Adams, first Second Lady and second First Lady of the United States. Her famous correspondence with John Adams produced nearly 1,200 letters over a span of some 40 years, leaving us with a priceless record of early American life — from household routines to war and politics to expressions of personal worry and devotion. Although Abigail’s was not the loveliest hand, I found it sure and expressive, as befitting her extraordinary sway and intelligence; it also carries a genuine flavor of the period. In making the font I focused chiefly on her handwriting from the 1780s and ’90s, when she’d taken to using a disconnected cursive, which struck me as distinctive and alluring. The OpenType release of Abigail Adams has scores of ligatures, standard and contextual alternates, lining and old-style figures, cross-outs, ink blots, and full Latin language support.

Facit is a contemporary sans serif text face. It is designed to be a highly legible and flexible font that does not draw the attention to itself. We used to have a composite worktop in our 'old' kitchen. It was cheap and the kitchen-guy warned us not to put any hot pans on the worktop, as it could crack due to Thermal Shock. Duh... When we installed our new kitchen, we opted for a ceramic worktop, which can handle hot pans being placed on it! Thermal Shock font is a very nice, handmade brush font. If you ever bought any brush fonts of mine, you will know that I almost always use Chinese ink and cheap brushes to create 'the look'. It is always a bit of a surprise how a Chinese ink brush font turns out: I created one the other day and it looked horrible, so it was banned.. Thermal Shock turned out to be a looker. When I released Halogen, I asked ‘Who doesn't want or need an expansive contemporary extended sans that has a sense of style and swagger… what if it had a lowercase, small caps and various numeral options… how could you say no?’ Go, click on the Halogen link and read on, if you're interested. Halogen was well-received, so I decided to take it further with Halogen Slab (the name kinda tips you off as to what kind of typeface it is, don't ya think?). As always, I prefer not to take short cuts and provide an anemic offering of glyphs — a modern typeface offered today must provide more than just the basics and this one does — lowercase, smallcaps, old style numerals, tabular forms, stylistic and titling alternates, fractions, case-sensitive features, and even an alternate uppercase ordinal set is included. The P22 Mystic font knows all. Aside from allowing for type design in a faux eastern script, this font peers into the world of the spirits for guidance and enlightenment. Sure it has small caps and ligatures as OpenType features, but it also has a special “oracle” feature which will answer your most mystifying questions. The design itself was based on an actual Ouija board. Somehow the spirits became embedded into the font itself and now when a question is typed, an answer is revealed—provided the Contextual Alternates feature is enabled.
