The goal with South Island was to make a font that looked authentically handwritten. Each character had to perfectly flow into the next and maintain a nice balance between variation and legibility. The typeface retains all the texture and grit of the original handwritten characters, making it especially powerful when used for large headers. South Island comes in a regular version, and a second version which contains alternate versions of each letter A-Z (both upper and lowercase). Liquoia are three scripts with lots of contrast and different embellishments. Liquoia-A has the elegant, flaming decoration it blends well with Fleurons-Six. Liquoia-B has the flowery embellishments and goes very well with my Ornata-A and Ornata-B. Liquoia-C is the plain, straightforward and solid floating script. The name is derived from "liquid", meaning it is a fluid script that has a distinctive waveform. The "oia" part of the name comes from Sequoia, the sturdiest tree that came to my mind. While searching online for vintage type inspirations, an image was spotted of an old letterhead for a steel manufacturing company. The hand lettering of the word 'Ludlum' only offered D,L,M and E as visual examples, but from this Jeff Levine has designed Eckhardt Dualine JNL - a Deco-flavored dual-line type font. As with a number of other releases that emulate hand-lettering or sign painting, Jeff has named this font in honor of his good friend, the late Albert Eckhardt, Jr.; who ran Allied Signs in Miami from 1959 until his passing.

Donna Lena is a chancery cursive, feminine in character. Kinstag is a all caps serif display font. The typography was originally developed during work on a country rock music project. The initial characters were then evolved into a workable font for use in rural, rustic, vintage, outdoor and adult beverage related themes. The thick serif with an angled edge is a key characteristic of the font; pairing fantastically well with the thick stems and spurs protruding from them. These elements all work together to give the font a strong bold expression as well as a unique look.

The roots of this font go back to 1967. A book title in trendy letters was created in a completely ingenuous way as a film prop for a Super 8 fun film. I drew the letters with felt-tip pen and poster paint without thinking too much about it. It wasn't until a good 50 years later that I realized, this was a first awkward typeface draft. The flower power vibe was captured here subconsciously. In 2019 I completed the few glyphs and created variants that I would not have thought of at the time.

Frank H. Atkinson's book Atkinson Sign Painting was published in 1909. For decades, this book served as the manual for sign painters - a handbook for hand lettering.
