FansiPensle is a set of four decorative scripts. The capitals are fussy and ostentatious and a little weird with strange flourishes. The lower-case letters are neat and simple. Lower-case letters have the shapes of a cursive alphabet and they are connected in the cursive and cursive-bold styles but not in the plain and bold styles.

The 1920 edition of “How to Paint Signs and Sho’ Cards” by E. C. Matthews offered a number of examples of then-modern lettering styles for sign painters and show card writers. While the inspiration for Prospect Heights JNL may have been a piece of vintage sheet music entitled "My Ohio Lullaby", the name is classically New York. To be precise, it's a neighborhood in the Borough of Brooklyn. Prospect Heights JNL is available in both the regular version (with an engraving line) and a solid (plain) version.

☞ Bona Nova is a collective revival project of Bona typeface designed in 1971 by the author of polish banknotes Andrzej Heidrich. Besides giving the project a digital font form the aim was to expand the base character set: preparation of small caps, designing the alternative glyphs and multiple opentype features. Working together with the author we designed two new text versions: regular and bold – to give the family a form of a classic script triad. ☞ It is accompanied by three title versions and three contour styles under the name of Bona Sforza. All styles contains over 1200 glyphs. ☞ Bona Nova is an unprecedented typographic adventure for our team. We hope that our work will allow the cultural heritage of Bona and the work of Andrzeja Heidricha to gain new followers and fans. The typeface is inspired by our love of old hand-painted signs in butchers, and based on some very quick sketches using a brush pen to find what shapes worked. There is quite a quirky element to the type, as we tried to create the original sketches by rotating the brush pen to reflect the strokes of a paint brush. This lead to a horizontal stressing, which is most noticeable in letters like C, G, S and J. Sidestroke comes in 2 styles, both a standard solid version, and a pre-shadowed outline version. This can be outlined and divided in Illustrator to quickly create an alternate coloured fill for your letters. The lowercase letters have been designed to automatically horizontally align with any uppercase letters, which is a great shortcut when creating logos or other unique type layouts.

This stylish stout script was originally issued in the 1930s under the name “Fulgor” by the spanish foundry Fundición Gans. Cursory research suggests that Saks-Fifth Avenue found it suitably snooty to use extensively in its newspaper ads of that period. Perhaps somewhat ironically, this version takes its name from one of comedian W. C. Fields' many odd aliases.

La Bamba is the work of British designer David Quay and heavily influenced by the style of the 1950s. It comes with complete upper and lowercase alphabets as well as a set of decorated initialling capitals for added variety. When I am working on a new font, I usually play some music, or have a song in my head. When I was working on this font, an Audioslave song called Getaway Car was playing in my head. Again: naming a font is not that difficult! Getaway Car was made with a cheap brush and expensive Chinese ink. It is an all caps font, ideally suited for posters, book covers and designs that need a bold, rough & ready look.

Samuel Welo was a sign painter who had published in the 1920s and again in 1960 his “Studio Handbook – Letter and Design for Artists and Advertisers”, prolifically hand lettering all of the type style examples within the pages of the publication. In 1930 Welo also published “Lettering - Practical and Foreign”. From this book comes a thick-and-thin hand lettered Art Deco alphabet – now available digitally as Sightseeing Tour JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

Antea is named after "Antaeus" the giant of Libya in Greek mythology, son of Poseidon and Gaia (mother earth), whose wife was Tinjis. He was extremely strong if he stayed in contact with the earth, but once lifted into the air he became weak and liquid. So is this font, strong if grounded and weak if floating in the air. Sylfaen was designed for Microsoft in 1998 by John Hudson and W. Ross Mills of Tiro Typeworks, and Geraldine Wade of Monotype Typography. Sylfaen is a Welsh word meaning foundation"; an apt name since the font stemmed from research into the typographic requirements of many different scripts and languages. This version of Sylfaen supports the WGL4.0 character set, for Pan-European language coverage. In addition to Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letterforms, the font contains the characters necessary for support of the Armenian and Georgian languages. Font Designer: John Hudson, W. Although inspired by the engraved lettering on eighteenth-century English trade-cards, ITC Vineyard has unusual characteristics of its own. The type retains some quality of copperplate scripts, but the differentiation between thicks and hairlines is not very sharp. There are a few cursive forms, but most of the letters are romanized: they are almost upright and not joining. Occasional flourishes are casually interpreted from various sources such as the lettering on trade-cards and writing masters' copybooks. “I think it is a new kind of 'copperplate script' which is not too formal and easier to read,” claims designer Akira Kobayshi. Irregularities are apparent in the angle of caps and numerals, but the face's quirkiness gives a type page some friendliness rather than cold brilliancy. ITC Vineyard is designed in two weights: regular and bold. Each variation includes several extra characters such as an alternative lowercase 'd' with a long arm, a T-h ligature, swelled rules, and a pair of flourishes. Swash caps are available for both weights. The swash caps variation also includes oldstyle figures. Kobayashi notes: “There are a few swash-cap lowercase combinations that collide or look awkward.
