DT Portal: This stylised, partially serifed font, made with a slightly rounded square form, may have been inspired initially by old cathode ray tubes and computer screens. Although not intended to be purely a ‘tech’ font, it can have a strong tech feel to it. More suited to being a headline font than body text. It also appears to have a monospaced look to it, since most letters, (other than letters like ‘i, l and t’), do have the same width. There is some automatic contextual shape adjustment happening in places, to avoid taking up too much space, so contextual ligatures should be turned on. As is the case with most of my fonts, when given the choice, ‘metric’ spacing should be used in preference to ‘optical’. Initially this font was going to be called ‘DT Portal’, because its form was similar to that of a window or doorway. But due to other fonts already having that name, I chose to rename it as ‘DT Partel’, for no reason other than it is only a very small change visually.

While an editorial’s main goals are to entertain, inform, and persuade, more should be considered. For example, clear divisions are necessary, not just from one article to the next, but in how each is positioned as op-ed or fact-based, infographic or table, vilifying or uplifting. From masthead to colophon, Lektorat has six concise text styles and 21 display styles to captivate, educate, and motivate within any editorial purpose. Magazines and related publications are notoriously difficult to brand and then to format accordingly. The research behind Lektorat focused on expression versus communication and what it takes for a great typeface to accomplish both tasks. In the changeover from the 19th to 20th century, German type foundry Schelter & Giesecke published several grotesque families that would become Lektorat’s partial inspiration. Experimentation with concepts from different exemplars gave birth to Lektorat’s manifest character traits: raised shoulders, deep incisions within highly contrasted junctions, and asymmetrical counters in a sans family. After thoroughly analysing magazine publishing and editorial designs, Florian discovered that a concise setup is sufficient for general paragraph text. We have transformed the “99 names of ALLAH” into a font. That means each key on your keyboard represents 1 of the 99 names of ALLAH Aaza Wajal. Linotype Ergo was designed by American Gary Munch, and was a winner in Linotype's Second International Digital Design Contest in 1997. Conceived as a blend of traditional and modern type concepts, it works as a legible text family as well as a lively display or headline font. The word ergo means consequently," but it also comes from the Greek word "ergon" for "work." Consequently, Munch sees this family as full of energy -- an ideal font for working hard to make a point, and able to get it across with friendly vigor. Neuarc Font Family This is the 20th font family of CozyFonts Foundry, established 10 years ago in 2012 with the release of Aladdin Bold. Neuarc is based loosely on arcs and curves, hence it’s naming. As shown in one of the font posters that serves to showcase this font, a collage of rough sketches is displayed as the poster’s background. These hand drawn pencil drawings were worked and reworked and The final drawings were scanned and built in Adobe Illustrator and transferred to glyph windows, glyph by glyph, in Fontlab 8. A, 8, &, B, ?, $, 5, w, x, a, c, e, etc. giving the reason for the ’Neu’ in the naming. These letterforms & Numbers work extremely well in monograms. Each styles has it’s own personality. From the ultra chic Light style to the dominant cool Bold style, this family maintains a uniform legibility at small to large sizes. Meant primarily for display uses, Neuarc works well for posters, logos, headlines, packaging, branding, signage for a myriad of applications. The Neuarc Deco style font will work well in titles and numbers of any application.

Bovary is an elegant, stylized and expressive script font inspired by those beautiful calligraphies of yesteryear, but in a modern point of view. Bovary is full of personality! When I designed it, I started from the Clauques Script. Therefore, Bovary can be perfectly combined with Clauques Sans. Bovary includes almost 900 glyphs with many stylistic variations, swashes, ending and initial forms, catchwords and ligatures for both uppercase and lowercase, assuring almost infinite combination possibilities. In addition, the font includes a set of very useful ornaments to combine and give an ornamental aspect to the calligraphic text. Clementine, from Okaycat, is a font designed to be expressive. First, we wanted Clementine to be uplifting, friendly and warm. Secondly, we wanted it to be familiar, but neither staid nor boring. To make Clementine more warm and friendly, 90 degree corners and cubic forms were not allowed. All straight edges are either subtly curved or lightly tapered (with the small exception of the serif foundations, to create a secure base). To add an uplifting feel, all tapering flows towards the apex of the forms and the ascenders were allowed extra rising freedom above the capital height, similar to the effect intended in the architecture of old European churches -- to point all elements gently upwards towards heaven. To keep Clementine familiar, traditional type setting shapes were used throughout the font. To avoid the usual coldness of typical typewritten fonts, all forms were opened up, calligraphic touches were introduced, and any unnecessary serif elements were omitted. The result is a look that brings a touch of nostalgia or a "retro" feel. Clementine is highly appropriate anywhere a soft and friendly feel is desired. Can work well as a body text, or as ad copy. The sources of inspiration for the Atyp typeface are spread out widely both stylistically and chronologically. The basic proportions of the uppercase refer to the elementary geometric constructions of the Bauhaus. The subtle details in the drawing of the characters and the microscopic adjustments, which evoke the illusion of uniformity and mechanical purity, pay homage to the rationalism of the typefaces popular in the International Style. The increased contrast of the joints of the bowls and shoulders in the Display weight, which in certain diagonal curves transition into almost deconstructive permutations. For a change these take delight in doing things on purpose, teasing readability and breaking the rules of the new millennium's typography. Atyp was created by adapting a typeface originally made for a commercial television station. We named this font Scholz Secession. Fin-de-siecle Vienna, Austria is the source of this Jugendstil design from Schriftgiesserei Eduard Scholz. The original release was under the name Reklameschrift Secession. Most of the curve strokes look like commas to me. The letters are as soft and plump as the comforter on the bed I slept on in a Salzburg B&B many years ago. I was traveling with a college buddy and our next stop was Vienna. There a kind, young student named Hanna and her boyfriend took us under their wing. One of the places Hanna proudly showed us was Otto Wagner’s Majolika Haus, built in 1898, and only about 8 blocks from Secession Hall. Hanna explained to us that the style was called Jugendstil and represented Art Nouveau as interpreted within the framework of their culture. I even took a picture. After all, memories are part of who we are. Figures are old-style for text use. This font would not be my first choice for a spread sheet. Included are German ligatures ch (alt-0123) & ck (125), two period ornaments (135, 175) and lower case o and u with Hungarian long umlaut (215, 247)). A very likeable and easy-to-use font.

Athelas Arabic, created by talented Iranian designer Sahar Afshar, is an elegant typeface for fine digital and printed books — perfect for Arabic literature’s captivating forms. Originally designed independently, it worked entirely on its own and yet already seemed a good fit for Athelas. So it was decided to give Athelas Arabic a thorough reworking to make them appropriate companions while maintaining the natural aesthetic qualities of Arabic. First, the Arabic letter sizes were readjusted so as to not appear larger next to the Latin, then weight and contrast were changed in the same way. Finally, the spacing and connections in the Arabic were considered to achieve comparable colour as the Latin in a block of text. Ultimately, both the Latin and Arabic are graceful designs based on classic proportions, prioritising the beauty, tranquility, and fluid nature of the wordsmith’s art. With extensive Middle Eastern language coverage and the expected OpenType features, Athelas Arabic is the counterpart for which Athelas Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic have been waiting. The graceful, elegant curves of the Athelas heritage have remained a hallmark in each script. With this release it will only gain a wider and quite appropriate audience.
