Skiltmaler is the typeface that refers to the style of decorative arts during the Victorian era 1837 to 1901, the Victorian era was the period in which fly poster typography emerged. The large amount of colour in combination with large font sizes were created from movable metal type. As well as being made from wood, this was used to create the two-coloured typefaces. You would imagine this would be specific to the '3D' styled type seen on the poster to create the drop shadow. Skiltmaler works well with normal size text, but it works even better for large displays, short words, or even just to incorporate a few or single characters in a design.

This is officially the 1000th release from Jeff Levine Fonts since its inception in January of 2006. Crisis is a child of the dictatorship of economics. Since time is money the time budget of its production has been rigidly limited. Crisis was designed and generated completely on one single day. The target was to make a useful font while investing nothing more than absolutely indispensable. The component-based glyph construction scheme of another font has been utilized, further detailing work has been strictly limited. Due to those restrictions some letters have rather unusual shapes. This straightforward and contemporary sans (320 glyphs) is of compact proportions and very legible even when set in small sizes. In printing you get more text on one page and thus save up to 30% of paper.

Italian Old Style™ was designed by Frederic W. Goudy for the Lanston Monotype Company in the USA. Goudy was asked by Monotype to copy Cloister Oldstyle, a successful font that belonged to a competing foundry (it was designed by Morris Fuller Benton, see Cloister Open Face). Goudy refused on grounds of ethics, and instead talked Monotype into producing a new face. This he based freely on fifteenth century Venetian types, which were the same historical models used by Benton for Cloister and later by Bruce Rogers for Centaur. Goudy's result was Italian Old Style, released by Monotype in 1924, and considered by many to be one of Goudy's best fonts for book typography."

A sheet music edition of an early 1900s song entitled "You Taught Me How to Love You, Now Teach Me to Forget" was hand lettered in a free-form Art Nouveau style that combined varying line widths and character shapes. This unrestricted style of lettering was popularly embraced and revived by the hippie counterculture of the mid-1960s through the mid-1970s through their rock concert posters, record album covers and tee shirt graphics. It is now available digitally as Nouveau Artiste JNL. As a side note, a 1940s reprint of the sheet music was done in a popular metal typeface, which was also redrawn digitally and available as Elite Resort JNL [in both regular and oblique versions].

Country Western is a revival of the classic William Page font known as Clarendon Ornamented originally designed in 1859 and again in 1877 by Vanderburgh & Wells. In a specimen book from Stevens, Shanks & Sons, Ltd. of London (circa1930s) “Royal Gothic” was their version of a classic grotesk sans that had been in use as far back as 1899 when the Keystone Foundry called it “Charter Oak”. The terms "gothic" and "grotesk" were equally applied to early sans serif typefaces – at first not well embraced by printers as being too ugly (grotesque) for use. One familiar characteristic of early grotesk fonts (such as this one) is the numerous variations of character widths and shapes. By combining those two terms into a font name, the digital version of this design is called Gothic Grotesk JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Bikini is a display-font that offers designers a variety of opportunities to create a lively and sophisticated typography. The font contains swash-capitals and roman capitals as well as two different forms of lowercase letters for endless combinations. Furthermore, a set of more than 60 ligatures is included. Bikini gets its charm by mixing up constructivist and handmade origination concepts. Although the letters show partially very expressive and overhanging details, the creation is strictly based on a matrix of circles and arcs (see drawing). In spite of its static and geometric basic elements Bikini seems to come to life and to break the rules of the grid, thus it looks somewhat psychedelic.

It took Hannes von Döhren and Livius Dietzel two years to develop and complete the Brix Sans family – the companion of the well-known Brix Slab .
