Chunkie is a simple serif experiment going for minimal width and maximum height. I made it into my display version of OpenType Pro, but mainly it was a vehicle for me to try out some more extreme serif ideas and glyph shapes. The solutions for the lowercase a and e are unique, for example. The double g ligature is a fun solution. I like the solution for the @, but I’m not sure how it will be received. That being said, it turned into a useful dark display face with a small x-height.

I just like the sound of this word and the way it is written. All I needed to do was to build a font for it! Lachrymose is a handmade brush font. I used my fantastic Chinese ink and a cheap brush to create the glyphs. Lachrymose is a display font, so use it for anything display-ish.

There was a big climate protest in Amsterdam a couple of days ago. During Greta’s speech, a man jumped onto the stage and grabbed her microphone, because he didn’t approve of what she was saying. Some English media referred to him as ‘the stage invader’, which I really liked. Long story short: I made a ‘protest-ish’ font, using cheap black finger paint from the local store and a brush from my kids. The result is a rather unique font called Stage Invader. And yes, you can use it for your protest signs too!

The inspiration for AlbertBetenbuch came from a typeface drawn by Albert Dürer and an interpretation of that face in Arthur Baker’s Historic Calligraphic Alphabets (Dover, 1980). It is not a recreation of either. The characteristic common to AlbertBetenbuch and the faces inspiring it is the decorative zig-zag with the upper-case letters. In late 2018 the inside of the shadowed style was separated out. It looks very much like the plain face but its spacing matches the shadowed version. It can be layered with the shadowed version to easily create two-colored letters.

Backwash AOE is a typeface I drew up back in 2000 inspired by various graffiti artists. Coming across all of my sketches recently and seeing a trend lately in graffiti inspired styles, I finally came around to finishing it up digitally for release. I love the break the rules, wildchild aspect, of graffiti lettering. And while this typeface is nothing like the wilder inspirations that I spawned this typeface from, it has a more legible direction to it, retaining just the flavor of the originals. Rockner is a family of fraktur typefaces designed by the calligrapher/designer Julius de Goede. Like all Blackletter styles, fraktur evolved out of Northern Europe's medieval manuscript tradition. Fraktur was the most used Blackletter variety between the sixteenth and twentieth centuries. Unlike many similar fraktur font families, Rockner is available in three weights: Regular, Medium, and Bold. This flexibility allows for richer design possibilities. I am not really a creature of habit, but when I start working on a new font, I make myself a cup of coffee first. I guess you can call that a habit, so I decided to name this font Force Of Habit. Force Of Habit is a nice brush font - made with a cheap pencil that I borrowed from the kids’ colouring box and my trusted (and seemingly ever flowing) Chinese ink. In Norse mythology, Yggdrasil is the tree of life, which grows right into heaven - maybe even space! It has deep roots, which grows into three different worlds. I made this font in hope that someone with a love to Norse mythology could use it - maybe even for something viking themed! I don’t think that the gods of Norse mythology ever heard of contextual alternates or multilingual support - but I added it, without even asking! - Yggdrasil has 5 different versions of each letter (in both Regular and Rough) and supports loads of different languages!

Architype Konstrukt is a collection of avant-garde typefaces deriving mainly from the work of artists/designers of the inter-war years, whose ideals have helped to shape the design philosophies of the modernist movement in Europe.
