  1. Hollyhock by Angie Makes, $32.00
Meet Hollyhock, a modern and messy calligraphy font with wild, tall letterforms that refuse to be tamed. Inspired by calligraphy the breaks the rules and hollyhocks that grow rebelliously where they please. This font includes two full sets of capital letters… a set that is tall, energetic, and wild as well as a set a bit more tame and subdued. Open type features in this font include contextual alternates, fractions, ordinals, discretionary ligatures, and swashes. Use contextual alternates to add subtle swashes to the beginnings and ends of your letters. Use your open type swashes panel to use the many and various doodles, swirls, and swashes to manually add flare and flavor to your text. Or, install the separate Hollyhock Ornaments font to access the swashes and doodles more easily. Most Diacritics included for various language support. Message me if there’s one you're not sure is included. This font works best in OpenType aware software (ie. Adobe Applications) so that you can take advantage of its many features. Comes as two .otf (OpenType font) files. See this tutorial for more on how to add the various swashes and doodles to this font! http://angiemakes.com/add-swashes-fonts-photoshop/
  2. Speakeasy by Sudtipos, $79.00
Speakeasy is a 5-font combo thematically built as a toolset for designing menus and liquor labels as well as coffees, restaurants and signs when the desire is to communicate with style. Originally put together to be used by the most famous speakeasy in Buenos Aires, this set contains a script, a minor (almost flat) wedge serif, a flare serif, a sans serif, and a bold Didone. The seed for the script was found in a German lettering book, and the other fonts reflect the familiar advertising and announcement styles of the early 20th century. The Speakeasy script comes with two different ways to connect the letterforms. Also included are many alternates, swashes, endings and flourishes — all accessible via OpenType features or glyph palettes. Speakeasy Modern and Speakeasy Flare are small cap fonts, and come with a few alternates. Speakeasy Sans and Speakeasy Gothic come with full sets of majuscules and minuscules, but contain small caps and a few alternates as well. A few rules and ornaments are also sprinkled throughout the set. This combination of fonts worked wonderfully for the project that called for it. Hopefully it will work just as well for your project.
  3. Boring Sans by Zetafonts, $39.00
Boring Sans, designed by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini, is a typeface family designed along two variable axis: weight and weirdness. These two parameters allow designers to explore a full range of variations on sans serif design, starting from a neutral set of proportions and evolving to a strongly contrasted and dynamic treatment, ready to raise eyebrows on social media. The basic "A" subfamily, developed in in five weights plus italics, behaves like a traditional, solid workhorse sans serif, with finely tuned proportions for optimal readability and minimal emotional impact. The "B" subfamily, developed in the same ten weights, shows a more contemporary "brutal" approach, with slanted lines, deep inktraps and stronger contrast. All these features are brought to the extreme in the ten weights of the "C" subfamily, with each letter a bombastic show of exhuberant weirdness. Each of the style variant is developed in five weight with matching italics, with a glyph set covering extended latin languages and including many alternate forms and stylistc sets. For control freaks the family package includes two variable font versions that allow fine tuning and control of the design options.
  4. Canilari by W Type Foundry, $35.00
Canilari is a post-modern type family inspired by Diaguita pottery and contemporary serif typefaces. The Diaguita culture—developed from 10th century A.D. until 16th century A.D.—settled in the area of the present-day north Chile and northwest Argentina. Surviving cultural expressions of the Diaguita people are reduced to just a few pieces of beautifully decorated pottery of high technical quality. Canilari itself is a scream of identity with an incomparable tone that borrows elements from native America and proudly show them to the world. The intense and consistent personality of Canilari makes it a functional font for a wide range of uses: from continuous text in the most challenging environments to pithy, high-impact headlines. Canilari is well-suited for publishing: newspapers, magazines, books, etc. Its flashy look and angular shapes also make it an excellent choice for posters, logotypes, and advertising. The family consists of 2 sets: one standard and one pro, each in 4 weights plus italics. Canilari also includes a set of ornaments and illuminated caps. Together, the Std set (369 characters) and Pro (710 characters) support 219 different languages. This typeface was selected at the Bienal Tipos Latinos 2014.
  5. Ambicase Modern by Teeline Fonts, $48.00
Most fonts include uppercase and lowercase letters. Some experimentally-minded designers have proposed unicase typefaces as well: rather than having two different forms for a given letter, unicase fonts have one, chosen from the upper- or lowercase forms. Ambicase Modern takes the next step, offering not "either/or", but rather "both/and". Each letter in Ambicase Modern is a combination of its traditional upper- and lowercase forms, in a modern (didone) style. The inventive, hybrid forms that result are intriguing and handsome. Ambicase Modern stands out as a carefully crafted experimental font: its eccentric forms do not hinder its readability. It is suitable for high-style display settings. Ambicase Modern offers a large character set and extensive OpenType features. Most notably, in modern OpenType-aware applications, Ambicase Modern can be set in swash mode, which features sophisticated decorative flourishes that differ depending on whether the letter is at the beginning, middle, or end of a word. Ambicase Modern is available in two optical sizes: Regular and Poster. At very large sizes, the Poster cut, with its finer details, is recommended. For an extra bold variant, see its sibling typeface, Ambicase Fatface.
  6. Colville by Canada Type, $29.95
The Colville fonts began their existence in 2015 as a project-specific typeface, made to be used on a custom-made headstone commemorating Canadian artist Alex Colville (1920-2013) and his wife Rhoda Wright. For that purpose, some initial shapes were modelled after letters Colville himself had used on a Governor General gold medal he designed in the mid-1970s. From there started a year-long project that culminated in a set of four comprehensive fonts ranging in weight from Light to Bold, each containing over 750 glyphs to cover Pan European language support, stylistic alternates, five sets of figures, automatic fractions, and some ornaments rooted in Alex Colville’s art. These fonts exhibit a strong art deco aesthetic that has always been a favourite of architects, metal casters, and sign makers. This is a very humanist geometry alternating from the precisely calculated to the curvy and lithe, subtle contrast, flat stroke stops, and airy proportions that make for a counterspace built for accommodation and comfort. The breadth and timeless humanism of the Colville set makes fit in a variety of applications, from straightforward headlines, titles, and emphasis captions, to branding and packaging.

  8. Broadgauge Ornate by FontMesa, $25.00
Broadgauge Ornate originated from MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan in 1869 and was only available as an all caps font with numbers. Today this old beautiful wood type rises again from the archives complete with original numbers and an all new lowercase. An all caps Greek character set has also been added plus accented characters for western, central and Eastern European countries. Included in each font file are two sets of left and right pointing hands located on the Less Than and Greater Than keys and also on the Bracket keys. Because this font works well with a Las Vegas theme I've decided to make the pointing hands gambling related with one set of hands rolling dice and the other holding cards. The condensed versions were created because in today's computer graphics applications people stretch and condense fonts to fit their project but don't notice the change in vertical stroke widths or line thickness. After compressing the letter shapes of each Broadgauge Ornate condensed font the vertical lines were corrected making sure they were the proper width or thickness. The results are balanced condensed versions that weren't simply compressed with out consideration for their appearance.

  10. News Gothic SB Vietnam by Scangraphic Digital Type Collection, $26.00
This version of News Gothic contains the Vietnamese character set. Since the release of these fonts most typefaces in the Scangraphic Type Collection appear in two versions. One is designed specifically for headline typesetting (SH: Scangraphic Headline Types) and one specifically for text typesetting (SB Scangraphic Body Types). The most obvious differentiation can be found in the spacing. That of the Body Types is adjusted for readability. That of the Headline Types is decidedly more narrow in order to do justice to the requirements of headline typesetting. The kerning tables, as well, have been individualized for each of these type varieties. In addition to the adjustment of spacing, there are also adjustments in the design. For the Body Types, fine spaces were created which prevented the smear effect on acute angles in small type sizes. For a number of Body Types, hairlines and serifs were thickened or the whole typeface was adjusted to meet the optical requirements for setting type in small sizes. For the German lower-case diacritical marks, all Headline Types complements contain alternative integrated accents which allow the compact setting of lower-case headlines.
