Camelot was the first of over 100 typefaces designed by Frederic Goudy. The upper case characters were drawn in 1896 for the Dickinson Type Foundry. Goudy was so encouraged by his check for $10 (double what he asked for the drawings), that he spent the next 50 years designing type. The lower case was added by the Dickinson foundry. This Lanston digital release includes a Text version based on the smaller point sizes of the metal type and a Display version based on the larger sizes. This font was originally designed side by side with my first attempt at a semi serif typeface in 1997. The design made it through to full development only a couple years ago when our studio decided to complete the regular weight for a local project here in Bangkok. The face is a traditional serif with narrow stem (somewhat like sans serif) and industrial stroke. A good mix of Bangkok character where you can find Wat (old buddhist temple) next to futuristic high rise. This font was shown in Klingspor-Museum Offenbach, Germany, at a Typographic & Type Design exhibition Schrift in Form 3-26 September 2008.

Red Tape is three fonts that were designed by sticking letters together with red tape. It makes for a wonderful makeshift set of fonts. And I really enjoyed sticking those letters together. Of course I did it on screen using bits and pieces of scanned red tape. Just use it as you like, I won't give you any red tape in how to use the fonts. »Red Tape« is since February 2012 on permanent display in the »German National Library« – next to the likes of »Bodoni«, »Garamond« and »Helvetica« – being part of the exhibition about type through the ages. Calgary Script was mostly inspired by a brush script on a Welcome To Calgary sign in, you guessed it, Calgary. Though now, after it's finished, I can easily tell the influence is evident of all the books on American sign painting I have absorbed over the years. The overall effect of the font is similar to something that Fonzied itself, big hair and leather jackets and all, out of the early 1980s, but the feeling really dates back to a few decades earlier. Heady caps and free-flowing lowercase make for a speedy, determined, and instinctively organized buffalo herd of a typeface.
