Back in the psychedelia era Cooraline came with open-type features such as ligatures and extra clip art, and the other alternative Cooraline Shadow consists of underwater elements that suit with underwater atmosphere, so you can combine these two fonts to make an amazing retro, psychedelic with undersea vibes in your project designs.
  27. Altra Two by Hackberry Font Foundry, $24.95
    AltraTwo is a complete redraw of a family based on a tracing of a clip art font from an old printed book. The AltraTwo family adds italic, black, and black italic. I liked the gentle calligraphic look. Consider it a sans serif with style. This is a typical NuevoDeco OpenType pro font with caps, lowercase, small caps, lining, oldstyle, and small cap figures, numerators, denominators, fractions, swashes, and so on. There aren't many unusal ligatures for this one, though. It does have the Latin 2 character set or what Adobe calls CE, Central European characters. Altra has been my preferred header face for sevral years. it also works very well for body copy. I usually use it for my contrasting tip and quote paragraphs with Bergsland Pro as my normal body copy.

  29. Corona LT by Linotype, $29.99
    Corona was designed by C.H. Griffith and appeared with Mergenthaler Linotype in 1941. It is a part of Griffith’s Legibility Group’, on which he began working in 1922 and which contains typefaces especially well-suited to newsprint. Corona is based on forms of the Ionic type, perhaps the first style designed specifically for newspapers. The font is relatively small but gives an impression of strength and modernity.
  30. Newsbreaker JNL by Jeff Levine, $29.00
    Based on scans of some 1906 newspaper headlines detailing the devastation of the San Francisco earthquake, Newsbreaker JNL is a modern take on vintage typography. With a few letterform characteristics somewhat reminiscent of DeVinne, this typeface was perfect in its day for expressing news headlines - and it holds up just as well today for titling or banner ad copy. Available in regular and oblique versions.

    Life is an elegant roman face, designed by W. Bilz and developed by Francesco Simoncini at Ludwig & Mayer in 1964. It is a contemporary design based on the Transitional designs of the eighteenth century. The Life font can be used for almost any kind of copy. Life is especially suitable for newspapers, both in editorial and advertising due to its high degree of legibility.
  32. Diogenes by Ludwig Type, $45.00
    Diogenes is an elegant and crisp text typeface. While the skeletons of the individual characters are distinct and strong, the serifs are fine and sharp. This is especially true for the capitals with their comparatively strong horizontal strokes. The graceful appearance of Diogenes makes it an ideal choice for books, newspapers, and magazines, both at small text sizes and display sizes. See also this minisite.
  33. Fenton by Fatih Güneş, $19.00
    Fenton Font family comes with 6 weights. The design was inspired by (convex) camber. It has a higher lowercase structure than the normal ones. It has a modern, rounded and squared character. Each weight contains 364 glyph. It is a type family which you can use in brand and model names of technological devices, newspaper and magazine ads, jerseys, logos, posters, apps, banners and promo images.
  34. Dobra Slab by DSType, $26.00
    Dobra is a very geometric and robust typeface with Sans and Slab Serif companions, specially suited for magazines and newspapers, although it works great as a corporate typeface. With five weights ranging from Light to Black with matching italic, available in both styles this highly readable typeface is full of OpenType features such as Small Caps, Tabular Figures, Central Europe characters and Historical Figures, among others.

    DubTone is simple sans serif font with a halftone texture from an old newspaper scan on an old flatbed scanner. This font was created for a movie poster in 2003 and then finally converted to a font in 2012. Each of the characters were individually designed with care to make sure that in small or large sizes it remained readable with a unique texture.
