A storm has been brewing. It’s Hurricane. A complete redesign of a popular style. New flair and excitement abounds with this fast moving spirited brush script. This updated version of Hurricane was created with high end advertising in mind but can also be used for designs outside of commercial uses— greeting cards and social expression, or even scrap-booking projects. There are three regular styles and a PRO version of the script styles, plus a graphics font to add an extra breeze to your work. Hurricane Regular is straight forward with the more Roman capital forms. The Script version swaps the caps out for the more flourished uppercase. And finally, the Swash version contains many of the alternate letter forms found in the PRO version. Hurricane Pro offers the features of all three of the regular Hurricane versions with added OpenType programming and additional alternate glyphs. The Contextual feature of Hurricane swaps out the regular forms for more flashy characters along with necessary ligatures and alternates that give perfect flow to the words. The original source of design for Sign Sans JNL was an image online of an old New York drinking establishment called the Lenox Lounge. The metal channels encasing the neon had an unusual "feel" to some of the letters. While the original E,G and U of the sign looked "interesting", they didn't quite fit the font's layout. Those letters were scrapped for more traditional versions of them.

Here's another mosaic marvel from the New York subway system, to complement Midtown Tessie. This style is based on signage at the 34th Street station, with connections to Brooklyn. A full tile background is available at the bar position, and a marvelous meander can be found at the German double-s spot. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Nature Stencils JNL brings together a number of vintage decorator stencils with bird and flower motifs (along with individualized elements from the original designs). These home decor stencils were manufactured by the Huntington Oil Cured Stencil Company somewhere around the early 1950s. Originally located in Huntington, New York, the company later relocated to the South Florida area, but there is no additional information found about the company's background.

At one time, the Hampton Publishing Company of New York specialized in producing reading and activity books for children. The “Letters and Numbers Stencil Book” (probably from the late 1940s or early 1950s) was the basis for Kiddie Stencil JNL. This bold sans serif type style replicates the handmade steel rule dies used for cutting the stencil pages of the book, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

When Social Gothic first launched in 2007 as a basic single font, it became an instant branding and advertising favourite. It was used widely by a few major fashion outlets and department stores, then soared to new heights of exposure when it became the billboard-cause standard face for a few charity outfits and political organizations throughout Canada’s major urban centres. Social Gothic is a unicase font that combines standard sans serif elements with some distinct “wooden” shapes and oval lowercase components, to make for a totality that achieves a handmade look while maintaining a clean, legible, understated and easy message delivery. It is a gothic with quite a few humanist leanings, something seldom found in the sans serif genre. This retail Social Gothic family is the re-conceptualized, refined and optimized redux of the many bespoke versions that were commissioned and customized for various proprietary brands and projects over the years. The remastered set consists of four multi-script weights, rough and soft variations, and a very unique stencil treatment. This is the Viking font that I developed based on the letters in the Irk Bitig book, which is written with the brush line of the old Turkish runic alphabet, the information below. The book is written in Old Turkic using the Old Turkic script (also known as "Orkhon" or "Turkic runes"); it is the only known complete manuscript text written in the Old Turkic script. It is also an important source for early Turkic mythology.

The 2nd installment of the Enchanted Land family takes us on another medieval adventure, opting to completely rebuild instead of refining the legacy script. More emphasis was put into the undulating nature of the Uppercase characters and how they keep your eyes flowing. For this reason, straight lines and right angles are rarely used in favor of flamboyant terminals and wispy swashes. Lowercase characters, by contrast, adhere to a consistent model defined by its straightened edges and sharp corners. This script flirts with several old world styles but seeks only to borrow elements rather than completely emulate them. German Blackletter, Old English, Uncial, Victorian, it’s in there! Enchanted Land DS would work well in a book, video game, or medieval signage. This family is equipped with Basic Latin, Extended Latin, ligatures, punctuation, a few alternates, and kerning.

The primary reason was the amount of feedback and requests I was receiving for alternate versions, expansions, and ‘hey, have you considered making?’ and so on. I listen to my customers and what they are needing… and besides, I was stalling with the Sans. Like Optima and other earlier high-contrast sans, they are difficult to deliver responsibly without suffering from ill-conceived excess or timidity. The new Lust Collection aggregates all of that past customer feedback and distills it into 6 separate families, each adhering to the original Lust precept of exercises in indulgence and each based in large part on the original 2010 exemplars produced for Lust. I just hate that it took so long to deliver, but better right, than rushed, I imagine.
