Lewis F. Day, in his 1910 classic Alphabets Old and New, filed this work by Laurence Schall under the category of Celtic-inspired, and surely it is both. This font included a few special extras, including a Celtic cross in the florin position, a Celtic knot is the dagger position, a shamrock as the asterisk, and a double shamrock in the double-dagger position. Both versions of this font include the Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

This is a digital revival by Cristóbal Henestrosa based on an experimental typeface named Charter, designed – yet never fully accomplished – by the prominent William Addison Dwiggins. It is an upright italic, unconnected script typeface, whose main features are a pronounced contrast, condensed forms and exaggerated ascenders. While Dwiggins worked on this project from 1937 to 1955, he only completed the lowercase and a few other characters. However, it was used to set a specimen in 1942 and a short novel in 1946. The sources that Cristóbal used for Mon Nicolette were the original sketches by WAD as well as printing trails kept at the Boston Public Library, and a copy of the 1946 edition of The Song-Story of Aucassin and Nicolette. This gorgeous typeface can be used successfully in headlines, subheads and short passages of text from 12 points onwards, in applications such as fashion magazines, soft news, advertising, poetry, albums, and book covers. This project started ten years ago, while Cristóbal was studying the Type@Cooper Extended Program at New York City. A previous version was selected to be part of the Biennial Tipos Latinos 2018, and now Mon Nicolette is finally ready for commercial distribution with Sudtipos… and we are very proud of it! Petale is my new elegant experimental typeface I'd love to present. At the beginning, I was intended to create a bold wide font, I started sketching options and came out with the letter 'M' design first. I thought it may be interesting and had continued developing the style with letters N, O, etc., spending hours on some letters to match the design and my vision. I liked how it looked (especially digits) and added different weighs. And it came out pretty stylish. Buttered Toast is something a lot of people enjoy every day; when I was working on this font I was hoping to create something similar: an uncomplicated font enjoyed by many. The resulting typeface is exactly what is promised on the package: Buttered Toast is unobtrusive, yet quite refined. It may even be taken for granted, but I sure hope it will be used and enjoyed by many. Buttered Toast comes with a generous helping of diacritics.

LP Pinselschrift is a new brush handwriting script from German designer Peter Langpeter (lp-design.de). LP has been running his own design studio since 1995, working as a typeface and logo designer, as a calligrapher, cartographer and illustrator. During this time LP created a large number of excellent new typeface designs. Now, we are extremely happy that LP has chosen to let URW digitally produce and market his designs. LP Pinselschrift is the first LP original typeface of this series. It is a light, dynamic-flowing and modern brush script.

On the Town JNL is a reworking of Parks Department JNL, giving it a classic "solid black Art Deco treatment". The wide monoline font of the original design was inspired by hand lettering on a WPA (Works Progress Administration) poster. Art Deco typography and the streamlined style it embraced often conjures up images of New York City in the 1930s and 1940s, thus On the Town JNL is named for the classic MGM musical starry Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Jules Munchen that was filmed on location in "the city that never sleeps".

Modesto Initials had existed as a single font for several years. I recently added a fill font to put color in the Inlines. The Inline font still works by itself. The Fill font works alone too, as an ultra Modesto on steroids. They work best together. Modesto is a loose-knit family based on a signpainters lettering style popular in the late-19th and early-20th centuries. It evolved from the lettering I used for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Logo. The Modesto family was not planned. It just happened, a few fonts at a time over about fifteen years. In 2014 seven new Italic fonts and two Chromatic families were added. There is a downloadable MODESTO USER MANUAL PDF in the Gallery section for this family.

Originally issued as Palm from the A. D. Farmer Foundry in New York, about 1887. This is a good early example of the transition from the ruffles and fluorishes of Victorian fonts to the more restrained decoration that came to be called Art Nouveau.

Steve Jackaman and Ashley Muir. It was our initial intention to develop a suitable lowercase for Les Usherwood's 'Elston' typeface, based on a few characters from an old German typeface called Hermes Grotesque (Woellmer, Berlin). However, the new design quickly took on a life of its own, and we decided to call it ‘Creighton’. Originally released as a four font family, we have now added eight more weights and made the entire family into 'Pro' versions for good measure.

This is a funky hand lettered font that just begs to be used for coffeehouse promo. It is best when used in sizes above 16 points and is even better when used for posters where it can be printed in giant sizes. It was hand drawn in Fractal Designs Painter with lots of little Doo-Dads.

Regular Joe was first delivered to the font world by Ron and Joe. Yes, the same Ron and Joe of the ArtParts fame. A few years of being so regular, Regular Joe became, well, just bored. Regular Joe needed company. He wished for a family. After all, most of his font friends had big families. His wishes were granted by FontHaus. So Skinny and Husky were created to be with Regular and all together, they became Family Joe. All is well.

A vintage New York neon sign for a juice stand advertising “Papaya” was the model and inspiration for Fruit Juice JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.
