The inspiration for this font was a two-sided piece of paper. The glyphs were created by bending strips of this paper, then scanned and recreated digitally.

Accents have been added, and there quite are a few alternative glyphs. The A has two options for example: there's a sharp version consistent with the original signage, but also a rounded version consistent with the rest of de design. Designed by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini with Francesco Canovaro as a development and reinvention of Tarif by Andrea Tartarelli, Ambra Sans is a humanist sans typeface family, drawn around a lively, expressive skeleton but developed with a contemporary, post-digital sensibility that implies low contrast and tall x-height. In designing Ambra Sans, the authors wanted to research the elusive natural signature of handmade humanist letter shapes, in the effort of preserving it while still developing all the capabilities of type as a technical tool in the digital age. Like a frail insect preserved in amber, humanist design is the "ghost in the machine" of this font, that aims at seducing the viewers with its soft, welcoming text flow, firmly opposing the rigid, formal tone of most sans serif fonts. Born to provide a useful tool to graphic designers with branding and editorial needs, Ambra Sans develops around two subfamilies with slight but fundamental differences. The display family offers a taller x-height, optimizing readability and spacing in headings and display use, while offering a single story lowercase g to provide more consistent branding usage. The text family, on the other side, goes for a smaller x-height to give more traditional proportion to the text and removes the slight tapering in the stems to provide better rendering on screen in small formats. Both subfamilies of Ambra Sans develop around a wide range of seven weights with corresponding true italics, with Ambra Display sporting an extra heavy weight for maximum versatility. In total the family counts 30 fonts, each with over 600 glyphs for a wide language coverage. Open type features and glyph alternates further enrich the usage possibility of this typeface that wants to offer contemporary designer an alternative, unexpectedly human approach to contemporary sans type, softly preserving the spirit of handmade calligraphy while encasing its frail nature in a transparent, strong and powerful design language.

A grunge-oriented secret code font, Dekapot Deluxxe has mysterious underlines and accent marks that pop up at seemingly random locations as you type. But these morse-code-like dots and dashes are not random at all, they're simply attached to the preceding letter to make things seem more cryptic than they really are. Get it? Originally released as a Chankstore freefont back in the '90s, Dekapot (translated from the Dutch as "the broken font") has a newly bulked-up character set to add functionality and professionalism to its all caps display nature. These are fresh new versions of this font, made to replace prior versions formerly known as Dekapot Masss and Dekapot Deluxxe. In the history of 20th century graphic arts, the evolution of the informal sans serif has been a uniquely American phenomenon. The ongoing saga of this (still as popular as ever) sub-genre dates back to the maturity of the Industrial Age and early Hollywood film titling, runs through the prosperous times of interwar print publications, sees mass flourishing during the various media propagations of the film type era, and solidifies itself as arguably the most common design element in the latter years of the century. Fun, bouncy, playful, and highly exciting, the casual sans serif is now all over game packaging, film and animation titles, book covers, food boxes, concert posters, and pretty much everywhere design aims to induce excitement about a product or an event. The casual sans is the natural high pill of typesetting. We figured it was high time for the casual sans to adapt to 21st century technology, gain more versatility, and become as much fun to use as the emotions it triggers. So we’re quite excited to issue Bananas, a fun sans serif family in 6 weights and 3 widths that can be used anywhere your designer’s imagination can take you. Rather than being based on a single design, Bananas was sourced from multiple American film era faces, all from 1950s and 1960s, when the casual sans genre was at its popular peak. Headliners’ Catalina and its very similar cousin, Letter Graphics’ Carmel, served as initial study points. Then a few Dave West designs informed the design development and weighting process, before narrow and wide takes were sketched out and included in the family. The entire development process happened in a highly precise interpolative environment. All Bananas fonts come with a full glyph complement supporting the majority of Latin languages, as well as five sets of figures, automatic fractions, quite a few ligatures, biform/unicase shapes and other stylistic alternates.

Love story is a display hairline typeface for use in big sizes and short texts. It’s inspired by different kinds of love and specially designed for Valentine’s day. Its soft curves and sweet style give it a lovely personality. Designed by Luciano Vergara and his wife Guisela Mendoza who has been studying ornaments since 2007 and has done her best for each project. You can see in her dingbats specially Printa and Abel designed for generate patterns. Now she integrated her passion to the ornament in a clean set which includes dingbats, ornaments and patterns. Luciano Vergara has designed very strong fonts with a particular work in the lines study and close to the geometry since 2005, getting a structure style, you can see in his fonts specially Regia and Kahlo. Now he integrated his study of lines, in a hairline font delicate, continuous and beautiful. In this story both designers have been merged their worlds creating a gorgeous product. This is a romantic type story, a love story.

I do a lot of taller, narrower handwriting fonts; this time around, I was inspired to make a wider, shorter handwriting font! MUGGSY has everything you expect from one of my fonts: clean and smooth curves, a full set of alternates, and a feeling of fun! MUGGSY has two uppercase-height alphabets (with a few lowercase-style letters like a and e in the lowercase set), plus a full set of 63 "smallternates" -- the same letters, numbers, and ampersand sized down to 75%, and beefed up in weight so they can be mixed in with the full-size letters. Plus 30 double-letter ligature sets, and a few additional alternates for variety! You also get a ton of punctuation, and my usual 300+ extended Latin characters for language support, for a total of over 600 glyphs! And just because you may want things a bit heavier, I've also made Muggsy Heavy, a bolder weight of Muggsy with all of the same alternates and extras. Enjoy, my fonty friends!

Dedicated to the XXII summer Olympic Games. I was inspired by the icons of these games when creating font Olymp80. This is an excerpt from the official report of the Moscow Olympics: "Sports pictographs, as we know, are pictographic drawings symbolising sports. They serve as points of reference and help overcome language barrier. Over the past few years, they have been integrated into the decoration of Olympic cities, and have been depicted in Olympic posters, commemorative medals, postage stamps, tickets, souvenirs, etc. On the OCOG-80’s request, graduates from several art colleges took up the design of the pictographs of the insignia as the theme of their dissertations. With the help of the research institute of industrial aesthetics, the Organising Committee chose the work submitted by Nikolai Belkov, Mukhina Art School graduate from Leningrad. The State Committee for Inventions and Discoveries under the USSR Council of Ministers recognised the new design as a production pattern. Though highly stylised, the new signs are easily comprehensible. They are smoother in outline because they are constructed at an angle of 30-60 (previously the angle was 45-90). Another merit of the new system is that the designs can be adapted for use in four representations: direct (solid, black against a white background), reverse (solid, white against a black background), contour (black contour against a white background), and reverse-contour (white contour against a black background), and permit several colour and shade and size variations." Monospaced font for names, logotypes, titles, headers, topics etc. Font includes only uppercase letters with two alternative designs for each letter.

It started in 2007 with Chennai, the first of a three-part series of sans that I envisioned with slab serif counterparts. Each font would differ from the others in how the stem terminals were expressed. The initial font was extremely well received, and a revitalized and remastered Chennai made its appearance two years later, complete with new weights and new, novel OpenType features. Then came Madurai, a variation of Chennai based on the same core, only without the rounded stems. Chennai’s rounded stems made it distinctive and great for headlines but left it lacking appeal as copy--a problem that Madurai easily solved. And now comes Sangli, the final iteration of my original 2007 vision. Sangli is a happy medium. Like Chennai, it’s great for headlines--but not too distinct for copy. Sangli keeps the same core structure as the other two, but new less sharp forms give this latest font a friendlier look that’s more versatile than the original Chennai and less formal than Madurai. The font includes a whole range of six weights from light to black, along with condensed and extended options as well for a total of 54 fonts. There are plenty of OpenType features, including small caps. Alternates include normalized capitals and lowercase letters that include stems for when you want a more traditional look or when you’re writing copy. Sangli also supports over 70 languages that use the extended Latin script. Use Chennai, Madurai, and their slab serif variants interchangeably with Sangli, too, for even more options in your work. All three complement one another well. So when you need a balanced font that stands boldly on the page and commands your reader’s attention, look within and find your Sangli.
