A heavy block sans in chrome and solid variants. The high lower-case x-height and short ascenders and descenders permit tight line spacing for an impactful, punchy effect. The chrome variant works well at larger sizes and in shorter settings.

Cachiyuyo is a bitmap font designed for screen titles and to be printed, has a large x height, is very tight and orthogonal. Cachiyuyo is meant for short texts and simple layouts. Is optimized for screen at 8px, 16px, 32px etc.

Another Dan X. Solo find, prosaically named Earth, provided the pattern for this family of futuristic fonts with a strong retro vibe. Both flavors of this font feature the 1252 Latin, 1250 Central European, 1254 Turkish and 1257 Baltic character sets.

The thinking behind Fairway was to create a relatively conventional soft sans with a certain amount of movement at the top of the x-height line. The face is casual and quirky but can still be used as a text face.

A condensed and stiff-looking typeface with an enormous x-height, Renslaer is meant for use as a display face. It has the feel of some of the 19th century display faces, which often had the same sort of unpolished look.

Floris was developed on a four-dimensional grid of several axes or parameters: weight, width, x-height and ascender/descender height. This makes it possible to allow for fast customization – i.e., the design of Floris versions made according to customers’ specifications.

The pattern for this delightful gem was found in Dan X. Solo's "Rustic and Rough-Hewn Alphabets" book under the name "Antique No 14." For this font, the rough-hewn lines have been cleaned up, but the underlying fun remains.

Ines is a full featured typeface with seven weights and italics, including Small Capitals, smart fractions and several ligatures. Ines was specially designed for books, with a slight short x-height, making the ascenders and descenders more elegant and tall.

Heldustry is a sans serif design with letterforms partway between Helvetica and Eurostile. The Heldustry font family has a large x-height and wide characters, making it ideal for situations where there is not much copy but pages must be filled.

‘Forgetmenot’ is a feminine handwritten font. It has a small x-height, and long descender. It was designed with applications such as advertising and packaging, editorial and publishing, logo, branding and creative industries, poster and social media, and marketing in mind.

Morocco is a round, curvaceous font from Swiss designer Michael Parson. Many of the letterforms in Morocco are inspired by the Modern Greek alphabet. Five of the lowercase letters have additional ascenders/descenders that are not typical in the Roman alphabet (h, n, s, u, x). This experimentation continues into the uppercase as well; many capital letters in this font have been bequeathed with ascender or descender-like elements, and some capital letters, like the Q", only come up to the x-height of the lowercase letters. This experiment in type design is one of ten from Parson that has been included in the Take Type 5 collection from Linotype GmbH."

Expanse is a retro futuristic typeface. The font has a bold and big vibe and mixes sharp and round corners, kind of like the very old sci-fi movie titles. Expanse includes uppercase multilingual letters, numbers and punctuation.

In 1905 Berthold released an engraved blackletter font called Prinzess Kupferstichschrift. Based on an old printed remnant, I revived this beautiful open-face fraktur and enriched it with several OpenType features. As usual in my blackletter fonts, the round ‘s’ lies on the number sign key, and a traditional number sign can be accessed via the Discretionary Ligature feature and typing 'N-r-period'. In this font you have also the possibility to turn I, V, X, L, C, D, and M into Roman numerals by activating the Stylistic Alternates feature. And last but not least, various useful ligatures polish up this font.

Urbane Adscript is a script companion to Urbane. A monoline semi-linking sans, it has the same number of weights and the same cap height and x-height as the Urbane family, meaning the two can be used together harmoniously. It features swash capitals that can be toggled on or off in the Opentype panel, or chosen individually from the Glyphs menu according to taste. Almost every capital has a swash alternate, and many have two. In Adobe Illustrator, the more decorative swash can be found under “swash”, the less decorative as an alternate. The four weight semi-condensed Bartholemé family came into existence as a family expansion based on the designer's earlier concept, Bartholemé Open. This hybrid family was inspired by and loosely based on a number of contemporary mid-twentieth century type concepts having Old Face or Modern influence. Those inspirational type designs were primarily designed for various proprietary photolettering technologies of the time. The award-winning* Bartholemé Open and its companion design Bartholemé small capital open were inspired by various Shaded, Inline and Handtooled type models from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Most of those inspirational type designs were designed as titling fonts with all capital sets only. To set it apart from the earlier models, Bartholemé Open is semi-condensed intentionally designed with a lowercase. Design qualities include a large x- height, tightly curved ample counters, crisp serifs and tight bracketing. The overall plan of the family was originally intended for display usage in titling and short passages of text. At higher output resolutions all fonts read well at smaller point sizes. Capitolium was designed in 1998 at the request of the Agenzia romana per la preparatione del Giubileo for the Jubilee of the Roman Catholic Church in 2000. This type design was the central part of the project for a wayfinding and information system to guide pilgrims and tourists through Rome. Capitolium also continues Rome’s almost uninterrupted two-thousand-year-old tradition of public lettering . It is a modern typeface for the twenty-first century and strongly related to the traditions of Rome. Soon after the completion of this project Unger began contemplating the possibility of bringing the atmosphere of this design to newspapers. Though Capitolium works well in most modern production processes and also on screens, it is too fragile for newsprint. For newspapers sturdier shapes were required as well as more characters to a line of text, and Capitolium News has a bigger x-height than Capitolium. Capitolium News is a thoroughly modern newsface, with classic letterforms linked to a strong tradition. Capitolium News for running text comes in the variations regular, italic, semibold, semibold italic, bold and bold italic. As is possible with most of Unger’s type designs, Capitolium News can be condensed and expanded without any harm to the letterforms. The update to this beautiful font family, Capitolium News, includes the addition of over 250 glyphs featuring full Latin A language support, new ligatures, 4 sets of numerals, arbitrary fractions and superiors/inferiors.
