It all began with an ellipse. Like an artist who goes from a pictorical logic to a more abstract one, in Elipses geometry is stripped of any distractive or ornamental detail. The font is naked and it shows that it does not need complex shapes or decisions in order to be very attractive. The font is a compendium of ellipses and stems, with a didone 'pensiero'. It also gets some inspiration from the art-deco letters and architecture, due to obvious reasons. Geometry at its best. Elipses will be useful for magazines, books, ads, or any piece of design that needs elegant letters. Note about the styles The styles named "Alt" (from Alternative) have their swashes with less loops. Use them if you are more into naked geometry. Apart from many alternates and ligatures, I've included some different sized glyphs in all the styles so you can also play on the rhythm! Have fun!

Kigara was Elena’s first attempt at designing a text typeface. The result is not exactly a conventional book face. Strongly influenced by handwriting, Kigara is best suited for short texts set at medium to large sizes. However, its open letter shapes and subtle serifs make it a very readable face in smaller sizes as well. Kigara will also make headlines as a modest, light-hearted display typeface. Kigara is named after an African mushroom - hence the mushroom vignettes and African ornaments in the OpenType version and the ‘B’ set. This font takes its name and the overall shape from modern bentwood furniture, namely Scandinavian designs since the 1940s. The curved corners of the letterforms are practically hyperbolic, to convey the tension and strength of the bent plywood. These curves are meant to appear more dynamic than circular or elliptical segments of traditional sans serif fonts. The letterforms are simplified, without extra corners, stems, connections or hooks, yet remain legible at any size. Now at version 2, Bentwood contains Central/Eastern European, Baltic and Turkish character sets and more ligatures with Open Type functionality. Some minor corrections were made to letter shapes and positions, as well as to kerning and spacing.

Giacinta is developed as a fresh alternate take on the traditional black-letter style. Rather than simply reproducing the standard uncial or Old English style, Luke William Turvey followed the tradition of Bastarda, making up his own scripted style with the Latin standards in mind. This style was conjured purely from imagination, so while it bares a resemblance to the standards, keeps its own original flavor. Giacinta is extended, containing the full West European diacritics & a full set of ligatures, making it suitable for multilingual environments & publications. Let me tell you a secret: This font has got absolutely nothing to do with nougat or France. I just love nougat, and I actually ate some while finishing this font! My wife is a good at making cakes, and lucky for me is that she too adores nougat - that way I often get delicious cakes with nougat :) Well, back to the font - a handmade rounded sans-serif, comic, organic, all-purpose with a playful attitude. Goes very well in both UPPERCASE and lowercase. I'd say you can use this for pretty much anything, but categories such as organic, packaging, kids product or sweets come in mind!

While it is obvious that this is an ornamental style font, it is more than that: it is a Celtic Knotwork design tool! Irish, Scottish, Welsh, even Norse and Viking cultures have used knotwork designs for millenia. These ancient traditional interwoven designs are experiencing a revival as Celtic culture gains exposure in the modern world. Intricate Celtic knots are featured everywhere from jewelry to tattoos. While many enjoy them simply for their beauty and fascinating twists, they can also be used to add an air of myth, magic and mystery to any project. The interlaced lines make them perfect for wedding invitations, borders, dividers and rules, web graphics, and logos. I began using Celtic knotwork designs in my own work as part of my knifemaking and jewelry making hobbies. I read all of the books I could find about Celtic knots and at first I drew them by hand with pencil and paper. Then as I realized how nice it would be to have "undos" I switched over to using Corel Draw. Draw proved to be a natural for this type of artwork with tools like contour and the trim function. But even with these great tools, it was still tedious to create these designs. I noticed that I was able to reuse a lot of parts in repetitive sections. I developed a small library of reusable bits and chunks of Celtic designs. I found them so useful and fun to work with that I began thinking about ways to market my Celtic design kit. I thought about CDR and EPS formats, but then I thought of creating this toolset as a True Type Font. That way anyone with ANY program that uses fonts could easily create Celtic knotwork designs. Word processors, embroidery programs, engraving programs, jewelry design programs, CAD/CAM programs...almost every program can use fonts. I was also interested in CNC work and thought that this font would work well for applications such as laser etching, vinyl signs, and machining. With that in mind, I designed each character of the font with extremes of accuracy. If one character from the font is used at one inch tall, every control point will be placed to an accuracy of better than 0.0001 inch. I wanted every piece to meet exactly with the next, with no possibility for misalignment. The different styles are all very carefully created to fit accurately with each other. So the Filled Style fits exactly into the Outline Style, and the Inverse Style fits precisely around the Outline Style so as to make up the background behind the knotwork. Combining the styles allows you to have complete creative control. By assembling the nearly 200 pieces it is quite easy to produce very complex designs. It is actually a bit like playing with a puzzle and many people really enjoy putting the pieces together to make designs. In fact, I have had many customers tell me of how they love playing with this font and making knots into the wee hours of morning. If you like puzzles then you will absolutely love this font! And creating the patterns is just the beginning of the fun! If you apply your favorite Photoshop tricks on them you can make anything from dazzling chrome knotwork to carved stone. Photoshop plug-ins like SuperBladePro are great for converting knotwork text into corroded bronze or rusted iron. Use your knotwork to add texture to a virtual landscape, or add them as surface embelishments on architecture and furniture. You can also make round knotwork by using this font with "WordArt" (WordArt is included with every copy of Microsoft Word. Introducing Promenade – a calligraphic serif that started on paper with a flat nib pen (see the 6th image), and blossomed into a full serif with italics. At its core, this font is just... beautiful. It's elegant, it's crisp, it's delicate, but can still hold its own. As I was creating the graphics, I just couldn't get over the flow of the letters – especially the italic. It's got class, but also isn't afraid to rock a pair of Doc Marten's. Funny enough, Jen from Tonic (they make beautiful websites) saw a preview of this font and said, "I'd take that font to prom." Which of course spurred a conversation about how this font would take a Mercedes G-Series instead of a limo, and wear Doc Marten's instead of heels, but still wear the most gorgeous dress, and that is 100% Promenade (and inspo for the name – thanks, Jen!). I've also been loving combining the regular and italic, especially for logos (see the "Friendfolk" logo) One thing to note about Promenade is the letter spacing. It was spaced for clean reading and intentional balance, so I recommend setting the spacing a little tighter if you want to create the display look found in many of the logo mockups(around -20 to -40 should do!).

Waite Park JNL is based on the smallest of the die-cut letters and numbers contained in the Webway Sign Cabinet - once manufactured by the Holes-Webway Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The largest of the set's sizes (2 inch) was the model for Sign Kit JNL, the medium size (1-1/8 inch) was used to make Sign Production JNL and this font is a version from the 3/4 inch size. Each size of alphabet and numerals have their own unique characteristics, although they all follow the same basic font style, which is reminiscent of classic Art Deco-era sanserif typefaces. The name Waite Park JNL was derived from a division of Holes-Webway that (for some reason lost to time) distributed their sign kits under the name Waite Park Sign Company, located in the Minnesota city of the same name.

Dionisio, a CastleType original, takes its inspiration from one of the overlooked treasures of the CastleType library: Ransahoff. The latter is extremely condensed and very elegant. I particularly like its hairline slab serifs and cross-bars. I decided to use it as a starting point for a new design, but to make the proportions more classic and to make it more sensuous with gentler curves and bracketed cross-bar serifs. The result is very Bodoni-like, but less extreme and more contemporary looking. Meanwhile, Dionisio maintains a hint of Ransahoff with condensed letterforms and very fine serifs. Dionisio brings together the best of both, making it the perfect choice where a slender, sophisticated typeface is needed. Dionisio is available in two widths: normal and condensed, five fonts each. Includes an extensive character set and OpenType features.

Hangtime Rad and Extra were designed with surf posters in mind, a subject close to my heart as an avid sailboarder and surfer. Its slightly raked (3 degrees) yet vertical appearance makes for compact setting with extreme impact. Hangtime exhibits some quirky terminal features, its shortened upstrokes are balanced by the lengthened strokes of others providing unusually consistent spacing. Best applied to display situations but is readable at text sizes.

Back in 2013 I released an all caps font called Rum Doodle. Rum Doodle is a really nice, really weird font with angular glyphs and a unique look. I decided that it would be nice to tweak this font a bit and design a lower case for it. The result is Chew On This. I chose that name for no apparent reason - so don’t make a fuss about it…

Only in bigger sizes does the font show its hidden character, it has a curved design to it, that makes it very special. Linotype Dot is part of the Take Type Library, featuring the winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. Designed by Lucy Davies, the figures are composed of a combination of white and black dots and the contrast makes the font look like points of light and darkness. The general impression of Dot lies somewhere between ornamental and technical. It combines well with sans serif and calligraphy fonts.

We have adapted the version of our Darwin font for use in Microsoft Office. It only has 4 variants: regular, italic, bold and bold italic. Font weights have been named in a way that can be clearly shown up in the font list in Office programs for the sake of a good hierarchy (the bold variant is quite bold and does not look the same as the original font).

This elegant and somewhat edgy typeface is a faithful revival of Numantina, designed by Carl Winkow amd released by Madrid's Fundición Tipográfica Nacional in the 1940s. The lowercase letters take their design cues from medieval Spanish uncial lettering, making this face a natural choice for intriguing headlines and subheads. Both versions feature the complete Latin 1252, Central European 1250 and Turskish 1254 character sets, with localization for Lithuanian, Moldovan and Romanian.

Eckhardt Poster Board JNL further continues Jeff Levine's series of sign painter-oriented fonts, named in honor of his good friend Albert Eckhardt, Jr. (who ran Allied signs in Miami, Florida from 1959 until his passing). The typeface is a casual brush style, modeled from an image of a do-it-yourself sign making kit comprised of stencils, paint and brush spotted for sale through an online auction.

Being a lefty makes it challenging to write in cursive. Unlike righthanders who pull the pencil across the page, lefties must push the pencil as they write. As a result, the letterforms created by pushing instead of pulling the implement are different from each other. The lefty’s cursive script is seen here in Yellabelly, the fontified version of Chank Diesel’s left-handed handwriting. This one’s named after a cowardly cowboy.
