CA Mechano is quite what the name suggests – A mechanical typeface. Pretty straight forward and all-caps as long as you don’t activate the stylistic set "disorder". You will see what happens then: a lot of fun for the typographic eye. A more consumable distraction is offered by the other stylistic set. You will dis­cover peacefully rounded letters in the neighborhood of strictly mechanically constructed glyphs.

Choob Stripes is reminiscent of pipes and tubes, and other mechanical works. Upper Case has the small circle, lower case doesn't.

It starts with the idea that different things can be mixed infinitely. Robolt comprises four designs with multiple options to add variety and playfulness. Battery and Machine have a retro touch which reminds one of toy labels from the '80s, while Vintage is rendered a Didot style with different textures to choose. Streamlined Handdrawn style is nicely put in contrast with the solid types. Elements are also available to complement the letters. After the Second World War, the Ionic style replaced Modern Face as the favored typeface for newsprint. A couple decades later, it was in turn replaced by the next generation of newspaper fonts, a mix of Old Face, Transitional and Modern Face forms. Rotation was designed by Arthur Ritzel and presented by Stempel/Linotype in 1971 and named for the rotation newsprint machine for which is was particularly suited. The font displays the influence of Old Face design and gives newsprint a feeling of lightness and elegance.

Twentieth Century was designed for the cover of 20th Century French Poetry and was drawn with pure geometric shapes. It is the distillation of a broad variety of styles loosely known as Art Deco but, also categorized under such terms as Moderne, Streamline, Machine Age, Futurist, 70s Art Deco, Memphis among others. If there were a source in particular that I would cite as my inspiration, however, it would definitely be the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. I mean, look at the "W" for cryin' out loud!

Sierra is an antiqua with a high x-height and generous, open counters. Many curves of the letters are almost right angles, which was particularly suited to the Digiset machines from Dr. Ing. Rudolf Hell, Kiel. The forms of Sierra with their flowing stroke contrast and half serifs have a calligraphic touch, which is especially highlighted in the italic weights. This is a graceful text type and its bold weights look almost like woodcuts. Sierra is an excellent choice for both texts and headlines.

In Carpenteria each letter is hand-designed based on a geometrical old mechanical style. You can use it for posters or impact graphics.

Espectro is a fabulous font full of swashes and alternates. Its free strokes give to your work a special feeling doing it very expressive and mysterious. Try the Open type version if you want to access to all its wonderful possibilities. Espectro has also a set of 26 related dingbats.

This stylized font was inspired by the personal style of the designer’s sister. It has a mixture of Gothic, Arabian, & Persian styles, with elements inspired by thorns and smoke. It can be ideal for projects that require an air of mystery or intrigue, or have an exotic or dangerous flare.

Iknu is a contemporary, minimal font that expresses spiritual life in its simplicity and mistery. Great font for religious / spiritual content and any other that needs a simple attractive font.

Adroit was designed by Phil Martin in 1981. Adroit’s letters have a strong contrast between thick and thin strokes and a distinct diagonal stress.

Jules Verne. Wild, Wild West. Tomorrowland. The Past’s extrapolation of the Future. So it was wrong, it’s still romantic. Steampipe is a font constructed of bits and pieces, reminiscent of the ironwork construction of the Crystal Palace or the inner workings of The Time Machine. Although it works fine as is, it comes alive with some Photoshop Layer Styles. Steampipe has the most extensive kerning of any font I've designed, just so (most) letters fit together as if they were constructed as a unit; use them in a program that supports special kerning.

Daniel Berkeley Updike seems to have stimulated the architect Bertram G. Goodhue to design the prototype in 1896 for Ingalls Kimball at the Cheltenham Press. Six years later Morris Fuller Benton at ATF developed it into the design and then the series that we know today. “Owing to certain eccentricities of form,” writes Updike, “it cannot be read comfortably for any length of time.” But he concludes: “It is, however, an exceedingly handsome letter for ephemeral printing.” Mergenthaler bought composing machine rights to the original design c. 1896, but bought the Benton design in 1904.

The Swiss designer, Hans Eduard Meier, originally designed Barbedor for the Hell Digiset machine. Barbedor is based on handwritten humanist book scripts of the 15th century, and its chracters are typical of the style of those made by broad tipped pens. Chapter 11 is a pseudo-random typewriter font with the ribbon on the fritz. The single font contains four different character sets of varying ranges.
