Desiring to create a scrapbooking font, I based Sweet Pea loosely on my own handwriting. The characters don't sit on the baseline but tend to rise above or below it, giving a casual, handwritten appearance.

The inspiration source for Bontebok Monogram is a unique and inventive hand-drawn letterset from a vintage embroidery publication combining a stylized geometric oblique all capitals letterset with bracketing marks to make a monogram. Winterberry (Ilex verticillata) is a species of holly, native to the USA and Canada. I thought it was a rather cool name (pun intended) for a messy script font made during a cold spell. Winterberry was created using Chinese ink and a crappy brush - hence its messy appearance. Use Winterberry on your alt-Christmas invitations, your fantasy novels, your rock albums or your website! You’ll love it! Comes with a bunch of diacritics and some ripe double letter ligatures as well.

An image spotted on the internet of a brass shipping stencil for the Royal Quality Brand (for the John H. Fitch Company of Youngstown, Ohio – a coffee and spice merchant). The lettering style for “Royal Quality” was a hand-cut, condensed, slightly flared sans serif with various character flourishes, giving the letters a stylish, somewhat regal look. Expanding on this idea, a full character set was developed and redrawn digitally as Royal Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Designed specifically for AT&T by Matthew Carter at Mergenthaler to replace Bell Gothic with a typeface that made effective use of digital typesetting technology, Bell Centennial gets several more lines per page than Bell Gothic, reduces calls to information because of its significantly higher legibility under adverse printing conditions, saving AT&T many millions of dollars per year. Although intended for use at small sizes, Mazda UK used Bell Centennial at huge sizes to striking effect in a mid-1990s ad campaign.

ITC Cheltenham font in its present form is the work of designer Tony Stan. Originally designed by architect Bertram Goodhue, it was expanded by Morris Fuller Benton and completed by Stan in 1975 with a larger x-height and improved italic details. Grotesca Negra is a charming sans serif with a flirt towards the Jugend era. Still its modern enough not to feel outdated. It is briefly inspired by a local typeface named Grotesca chupada negra, found in a Spanish edition of a type specimen book from the German Bauer type foundry. It has an angle on the horisontal strokes on many of the letters. It is one of many display face derived from book cover designs. Intended to work as a display typeface.

Summerisle was developed from a small sample of hand-lettered characters in one of the two theatrical posters for the cult movie The Wicker Man. The style combines elements of Celtic and Art Nouveau design with a bit of the feel of the late sixties paganistic theme of the movie. We've expanded it to a full character set while preserving the unique look. The name for the font comes from the name of Christopher Lee's pivotal character in the movie.

Albemarle is a distinctive text font based on hand lettered text from the turn of the century. It's designed to work well at text sizes, but to have some of the flair and personality of a calligraphic font. The result is both attractive and readable and doesn't look much like any other text font. Flight is the work of British calligraphic artist Timothy Donaldson, whose specialty is the experimentation with different design tools. Flight is named for the free-flowing lines of its forms which bring to mind a freedom of movement. It was first rendered in pencil using a quick sketching technique. Changa is a layered font intended for titles or short texts blocks, with its short ascenders and descenders and a set of lowercase letters inscribed within a square. The uppercases case gains slightly more in height and develops its morphology in a single height in order to make it possible to create text composition with minimum line spacing. Its counter-shapes are rectangular, featuring small curvatures in opposite vertexes which accompany and break the shapes, thus evoking a modern style.

The name of the font is taken from the concept "Littoral zone" - this is the part of the sea that is close to the shore. The width of the shore varies as a result of the tides. Hence the idea of my font family — changing the width of a character from condenced to extra expanded. REALLY fat faces seem to be popular these days, so here's my take on one. The strokes have been expanded to the brink of illegibility, but the letters remain distinguishable, especially in context. Also included are alternate versions of the letter A—suitable for use as first and last letters in a word— in the ASII circumflex and ASCII tilde positions.
