Contra Condensed is the condensed version of my Contra family of fonts. It is very condensed, but not yet narrow. It is well suited in all situations were one needs to save space. Enjoy!

Rearviewmirror (no space) is a Pearl Jam song and it happens to be my favourite! Rearview Mirror is a handmade tall & thin font. It comes in a regular and bold style with their italics.

Copperplate Modern is my personal version of Copperplate with lowercase letters that contrast the standard rounded capitals. For good measure I designed a glitzy "Chrome" version for each weight. Yours very glitzy Gert Wiescher

Who haven't heard the phrase that ‘any past time was better’?. Although I sometimes find this phrase a little too pessimistic (because I try to think that the best is yet to come), it may be true regarding my passion, typography. I'm too young (29) unfortunately, and this means I did not have the pleasure of being contemporary with maybe the man who has influenced my work the most (1). The man that showed that letters are more than just letters to be read. Herb Lubalin (1918-1981), also called sometimes as ‘the rule basher’ (2), smashed the taboos and sacred rules of type design and gave it personality. He rejected the functionalist philosophy of europeans in favor of an eclectic and exuberant style. To him, letters were not merely vessels of form, they were objects of meaning. (3). Nowadays, when looking at his portfolio, who dares to deny that the term ‘typography’ and ‘beauty’ may go hand-in-hand without any problem? Ed Benguiat, one of Herb’s partners, still likes making jokes with the phrase “screw legibility, type should be beautiful” and what I understand of this is not to forget the rules, but to know and break them carefully. In an era of pure eclecticism, we, the lovers of flourishes and swashes, can't do nothing but admire all the legacy that Lubalin, this wonderful type-guru, left. My font Lubaline read as “the line of Lubalin” is my humble tribute to him. Those who know his work, may see the influences easily like in his ‘Beards’ (1976) and ‘The Sound of Music’ (1965) posters; the art-deco forms in many of his amazing logos and practically in all his creations where letters seem to be alive just like you and me. I really hope that the future finds me still learning more and more about type-design and letterforms, and like him, always willing to make innovations in my field: Because letters are not just letters to be read. And man, we speak like 84 languages: we speak the German, and the French, and the Spanish, and we speak the Polish, and the Czech, and the Hungarian, and we even speak Shambala and Swahili and Rundi, and we got some Esperanto thing as well for ya. And check out my bro Black right over here, he’s like the action superhero, man! He’s got impact, man! Yeah yeah, but you know, my bros Regular and Bold are the real deal. Them is like da word of da street, man! Like da word of you, and you. And we got a message for y’all: life is hard, life is real, but you should work your mojo, be smooth, be nice, chill. Andrade is a new typeface designed by Dino dos Santos in 2005. This typeface was inspired in the typographic work of Manoel de Andrade de Figueiredo (b.1670-d.1735), Nova Escola para Aprender a Ler, Escrever e Contar, printed in 1722 at Offcina de Bernardo da Costa de Carvalho. This is one of the most important books, and almost forgotten, about Portuguese calligraphy and typography, and the work of Andrade de Figueiredo is among the most amazing examples of type design of the Eighteenth Century. His work inspired Ventura da Silva, a Portuguese typographer, who in 1803 published a book named Regras Methodicas, where he redesigns some of Figueiredo's type specimens. But Ventura's purpose was to create a more elegant and readable typeface than Didot and Bodoni. This kind of typeface used to be called leitura and is a transition between the baroque and modern typography. Andrade is a brilliant text typeface and is available in Regular, Italic, Bold, Bold Italic, Ligatures, Ligatures Italic, Swashes and Ornaments. Andrade is my tribute to Portuguese typography and to the work of Manoel de Andrade de Figueiredo in particular.

Nevermind is a revived sample of intuitive instant lettering with a decisive cut-out attitude. I use this font often with my illustrations, which resemble a similar approach in directness of style and visual language.

My friend in the Czech Republic sent me a card with some hand lettering that was similar to this tall headline font. It has a funky yet elegant appearance. Works nice for Art Deco too.

The hand lettered title on the cover of the 1914 tune “I Want you to Meet My Mother” served as the inspiration for Nouveau Date JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

An elegant calligraphy script. I named it after my hometown, Kazincbarcika. I think it looks interesting written down.The first letter I designed was the initial "K" and I have built the whole set around that.

In predator, a fantastic sci-fi movie. My version of the fantastic script used to write the alien language, adapted into Old Hungarian runic script. Other versions are Anglo-Saxon Runic and Old Turkic Runic.

Desiring to create a scrapbooking font, I based Sweet Pea loosely on my own handwriting. The characters don't sit on the baseline but tend to rise above or below it, giving a casual, handwritten appearance.

Abagail Jackson is a wild-looking face that was one of my early designs. I had no particular use in mind when I designed it and I no longer remember what inspired this whimsical font.

Say hello to my all caps wannabe typewriter font. It’s distressed, but still perfectly legible! I have added 5 slightly different versions of each letter for a more handmade feeling, and of course multilingual support!

Barranco is a 3d layered fontfamily of 3 weights (thin, medium, black), plus shadows and one inline effect layer. It’s inspired by the caps neo-humanist typefaces of the 80’s with a mix of new trends such as the new layered typefaces and super heavy font families. Each font also comes with a set of Stylistic Alternatives for letters A I K W Q, and extensive language support. Barranco is really nice for magazines design, trademarks, logos and posters.

The book Modern Alphabets, published in 1930, called this diamond in the rough from Continental Typefounders Nova Bold. Well, it’s neither new nor modern anymore, but it’s a warm, friendly face that’s sure to please. Both versions of this font contain complete Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

WAVE is characterized by curved lines and intricate details. Each character was individually made in Illustrator and Type Tool using my original illustrations. Wave is a decorative font best used for titles or short bursts of texts in large point settings. The typeface is based on the uppercase letterforms, but I have also created lowercase letters, numbers, and glyphs. The motion lines used in the making of Wave mirror an art deco-style. Inspired by an illustration of a large wave, I was fascinated that by using only lines and solid colors we as artists can depict the translucency and ever-changing movement of waves. I began by delicately sketching out all of the letters using graph paper and micron pens. My work always begins with traditional media. I'm an illustrator, freelance artist, and graphic designer from Chicago, IL. To start with one personal fact: I really like to listen Rahsaan Roland Kirk. He was a multi-instrumentalist, real grandmaster and unique jazz virtuoso. The way he improvised and walked through variety of different music influences are admiring. One of things he liked is to modify instruments, so he modified soprano saxophone and got an instrument called manzello. When I was looking for good name for this typeface, it came on my mind that Manzello could be the perfect one. It has the symbolic background from the instrument and theoretically in my head, it's imagined as typeface that rely on stable classic examples, but graphically designed and modified to match modern standards. Manzello contains a dose of characteristics of display typefaces with terminals that aren't perfectly rounded, high contrast between stems and good balanced Italics with elements of fine calligraphy. It's a small font family, something what I was always looking for to have as first text solution in my web and graphic projects.

Several roads have been closed around my village, so I need to drive alongside narrow country roads ro get my groceries done. The roads are so narrow that two cars cannot pass, so you need to use the (muddy) kerbs. A lot of cars these days have Xenon lights and they shine really bright and blue. I am non xenon-phobic, but I can tell you that the ‘old’ yellowish headlight were softer on the eyes, especially when you’re trying to navigate narrow country roads! Yes, I know, a long story leading nowhere, but a little personal story (in my opinion) is better than a boring text full of technical bla bla. A font is a font after all and I don’t need to explain what it looks like, because you can see that for yourself! Headlight Blue is a handmade, all caps display font. It comes with all the trimmings, including two sets of alternates that cycle as you type.

Tatty is a sans serif, monoline font that is distinguished by the gentle, rounded, backward curves on the ascenders. I created it because I had a picture in my mind of a font that I wanted to use when designing images and logos for clients' websites but I could never find one that was just exactly right. Many years ago I worked for a sign-writing company. My job was to copy and enlarge letter sets from printed copy and then cut masks for airbrushing. One morning I arrived at my desk to find that the airbrush artist had written on a rough, rubbed out, scribbled on drawing of the letter ‘a’ - “make a letter happy, make it beautiful”. That was the brief I set myself in the design of Tatty - to make every letter happy and beautiful. The result is a flowing, elegant yet simple type which I believe works particularly well for poetry.

Birch was designed in 1990 by Kim Buker Chansler, who based her forms on the designs of the turn of the 20th century. The new age needed new typefaces for an ever-increasing commerce and its advertisements. This time period therefore saw a profusion of new typefaces, all of which were meant first and foremost to catch the eye of consumers. To this end, style elements of past ages were reused, changed, and combined. Birch is modelled after a woodtype, a style made famous by its use on wanted posters in western movies. The narrow and space-saving Birch is perfect for headlines in display point sizes.

Wet is a experimental typeface -- I drew all the glyphs by hand. I came up with this font idea after all the positive comments I received from my Type Treatments project I publish recently on Behance.

I really wanted to make my own condensed typeface for memes and such. I think i have succeeded. This typeface is so average looking that no one would suspect that it is in fact very radical.

Doria was developed from my handwritten script Xan that has a definite Japanese touch. By making Doria really slick it became a font that is perfect to be used on labels and for many packaging jobs.

Reaver is my attempt to create a horror or bestial font that doesn't conform to the traditional stereotypes of either. A few have called it Geigeresque, and an earlier name for this font - Chupacabra - also inspired.

Originally conceived from the basic sign writers brush stroke pattern and heavily influenced by the songs of David Bowie this style has developed into an organic Futurist face, kind of post modern retro, catch my drift?
