A powerful handmade font with a crunchy outline and a lot of attitude. It’s slightly based upon my own handwriting, when I really really concentrate on making each letter both legible and related to the other letters. Otherwise my handwriting is really garbage! :) I’ve added ligatures of repeating letters, such as bb, cc, dd, ee… and more - a great way to sparkle a little more energy in the font and the design it’s used for.

Here's a font with a special backstory. Prickly Pear is a handwritten font, created in a moving car, on the way to the Simpson Desert. At the mercy of every bump, hump and hole in the road, this font is as rough and realistic as its conception. The dearJoe series of fonts had it’s origin somewhere around 1999, the year I created dearJoe 1, which was a first (and half-assed) attempt at converting my own handwriting into a working font. Being able to type in my own handwriting had always been a childhood fantasy, and even though I only partly understood the software, a working font was generated and I decided to put it on the internet for people to use. And that’s what they did: at this moment the dearJoe 1 font has been downloaded millions of times and can be found on just about anything, ranging from Vietnamese riksjas, a Tasmanian gym to a fancy chocolate store on 5th Avenue. The font is not something I am particularly proud of, but it started me of in building what later became the JOEBOB graphics font foundry. Inbetween creating other fonts, the dearJoe series has become a theme I revisit every once in a while, trying to create an update on how my handwriting evolved, along with my abilities in creating fonts that mimic actual handwriting. In the last decade or so I started implementing ligatures and alternate characters, which helped a lot in making something that can almost pass for actual handwriting.

Linotype Read My Hand is part of the Take Type Library, selected from contestants in Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. It is the digitalized handwriting of its Dutch designer, Leon Hulst. As is common of handwriting fonts, the forms of the letters seem spontaneous and individual. Read My Hand is a dynamic font suitable for texts with point sizes larger than 12 and particularly good for documents which should have a personal touch.

Suave silky is a handwritten font. The designer was inspired by his own handwriting in high school.This font makes me go back to my days as a student.

I have always loved gazing at the stars. Too bad that you don’t get to see a true starry night these days - mostly because of light pollution. Starlight Lovers is a messy serif. It is hand painted, using a brush and Chinese ink, so the edges may be a bit rough. In my opinion, this adds to the font’s character! Starlight Lovers is an ideal font for (Christmas) cards, book covers, posters and product packaging. Comes with a milky way of diacritics as well!

This Little Piggy is a cute, kiddy-style font. A little haphazard, a little messy, but funny and happy. Great for wishing-well cards or books.
