Trithemius, a 15th century Abbott, and influential counselor to Emperor Maximilian I, was also an author who wrote both histories and the first printed work on cryptography which gained him much adverse notoriety. He has been long regarded as a mystic and some of his works were therefore banned. However, it may have been his intention to cloak his cryptology essays in mystical writing to keep people from easily grasping the subject matter, which it has been recently demonstrated, at heart was really cryptological methodology. This font is based on a printed version of the Polygraphiae -- a text that included many methods of encryption. The examplar for this font in that text was described as anothor method of Alchemists recording secrets.

Bohemio was designed in memory of Gunter Böhmer, an artist famous for his many book covers of the 1950s in Germany. The cover I took as an inspiration for this font is that of a book called Stiller (by Max Frisch). Bohemio sounds similar to "Böhmer" (which means the one from Bohemia) and it is also an alliteration to artisty. Youngblood is a non-connected formal script with tall, sweeping ascenders and two alternates. These alternate forms can be mixed and matched for a custom look, and Youngblood is stronger in weight and is better suited for display work than most script fonts. Although Youngblood looks back to traditional copperplate scripts for inspiration, there is a new and exciting spirit to the design. Youngblood includes OpenType ending swashes, ornaments, ligatures, discretionary ligatures for most common ascender pairs and old style figures.

As usual, I stumbled upon a great 1971 Italian movie poster when looking for something else. The poster for “La Morte Cammina Con I Tacchi Alti” (directed by Luciano Ercoli), was made by an unknown artist and comes with a great font. Cortese was based on this movie poster font, but as I started working on the glyphs, I figured they would even look better in ligatures. So here it is: Cortese font - complete with 135 ligatures, accents and even Greek and Cyrillic!

Because of delays in production, the face was never used by the magazine. However, Gimbel Brothers, the famous New York department store, opened in 1910, around the time of the release of the typeface, which was used almost exclusively for its advertising and was often known as Goudy Gimbel, but the typeface was better known by the Monotype series number Goudy 38.

I am not really sure if goldfish in general are lucky. They tend to swim in circles in a bowl, but maybe, years from now, scientists discover that these goldfish count themselves lucky to be in a bowl, rather than in a stream in Asia. Personally, I think they’d be better off in a stream. Lucky Goldfish font is a cute and happy font, ideally suited for book covers, posters and toy packaging. Comes with a school of diacritics too.

Jostern is the first font designed by EMME Grafica. It's a simple bold, all caps, grunge, eye-catcher font, particularly suitable for titling, branding and typographic amusements. The unevenness of Jostern does not affect the heavy and cubital aspect of the font, but gives it the right roughness to be able to convey a slightly rough and harsh impression, like that of Jos Stern, the bitter character who will be the protagonist of a multimedia project currently under development at EMME Grafica.

Welcome to Sacremende, a chunky, slightly messy display font. As the name implies, this font was inspired by the retro California aesthetic and, in particular, old surf rock posters. To highlight the vintage feel, the font package comes with a distressed option for a well-worn effect. This font is all caps but includes unique styles for upper and lowercase letters. Both versions are available as webfonts but for better performance, I would recommend using the regular option for the web.

Brotherline is a connected script built from a single bold mono-line, inspired by hand-lettering style and various calligraphy letterforms.The first idea with this font is to create a font for Logotypes. Curves are smooth and flow with very nice circle shapes. This font is great for logos, logotypes, packaging, and store-front or signboard. NOTE: To access the alternate glyphs, you will need a program that supports OpenType Features. Activate the Ligature (liga) and Contextual Alternates (calt) for better experience.

Hyperon is a text typeface, which is especially useful for math and physics literature. Its nature is defined by austere and humanist features that show the most in italic. The typeface includes weights from Regular to Black and widths from Condensed to Semi Expanded. What stands out for Hyperon is the extended character set, with added Greek and lots of mathematical signs. Some styles have small caps. The typeface was designed by Natalia Vasilyeva and released by Paratype in 2020.

Benson Script is a script that is desperately trying to be anything but a script. With 3 contrast levels, and 2 styles, the six styles of Benson Script are an experiment in the diversity of a single stem width. Modernism’s desire to fit all elements within geometric constraints and adhere to strong verticals has spread throughout type design, but has had little to do with the frills and ornaments of script. Cutting a script down to its bare bones is an offensive idea to many—almost seeming insulting to its genre. Benson Script bridges that genre gap between frill and function. As a matter of genre Benson Script errs on the side of modernism, and adds flair as a last resort. Read more about her open type features, and the development process here.

Romanovsky is the font developed on the base of samples from the catalogue of Osip Lehman foundry in Sankt Petersburg. Original Latin design that was used for Romanovsky can be found in Feder Grotesk by Jacob Erbar. The current digital font is not a scanned version of Lehman’s samples but a newly drawn typeface that differs from the original in many details. Romanovsky is a sans serif typeface with narrow proportions and noticeable contrast. It will be good for headings and display matters. Character set covers languages of Western and Central Europe and Cyrillic-based languages. It also contains around 20 ligatures of uppercase letters for the most frequent combinations. Designed by Vasily Biryukov. The bold weight was developed together with Olexa Volochay. Released by ParaType in 2013.

I'm letting my inner nerd show through on this one: "Chaotic Neutral" is a Dungeons & Dragons thing. But the name applies to this font, too! Chaotic: This font has all sorts of built-in irregularities. Some variation in letter heights and letter widths, and the stroke widths are all over the place. It's all about the hand-written messiness. Neutral: And yet! I've smoothed the strokes a bit, and gone for as few nodes on each letter as I can (while still keeping a bit of roughness), so this font can be used for any kind of purpose -- not just print, but cutting out as well! Chaotic Neutral also comes with over 300 extended Latin characters for language support, and is fully PUA-encoded for easy access no matter what program you're using.

Font family Titla Brus was developed as an extension of Titla, released earlier in 2009. New slab serif family consists of 20 members the normal and condensed proportions that present 6 weights from Light to Ultra. The fonts can be used in combination with Titla or by itself in different display matters. Typefaces demonstrate original and catchy way of using serifs -- in some places there are traditional slab serifs, in other places -- one-sided and often there are no serifs in the places where they normally should be. The Maiandra family of typefaces were inspired by an early example of Oswald Cooper's hand-lettering, as seen in an advertisement for a book on home furnishing, circa 1909. Although many of Oz Cooper's letterform designs were cast in metal type, this particular one was not. Cooper's design itself was inspired by examples of letterforms he had admired in his study of Greek epigraphy (inscriptions). Cooper combined those ancient forms with the flair characteristic of design styles of his time. The result was an attractive design possessing subtle, purposeful irregularities, or "meanders" in his skilled brushwork. The Cooper design exhibits a unique warmth and harmony in text, while presenting a compelling rhythm, color and texture on the page. "Realizing the presence of this uniform warmth and readability," notes Dennis, "I decided to expand the design into a family of three weights with companion italics." The weights for the Maiandra family were selected for their versatility in usage over a broad range of output device resolutions. Indeed, "the consideration of eventual display resolutions, be they for screen or printer, provided the greatest challenge in the design of this typeface family," explains Dennis. Creating shapes that conform to the rigors of digital letterforms and modern rendering environments, without losing the unique characteristics of Oz Cooper's original design, is what Dennis has accomplished with his tribute to this great designer of the past. Maiandra, whose name derives from the Greek 'maiandros', meaning 'meander,' is intended for extended text use, as well as for informal subject matter, such as business correspondence, brochures and broadsides. In 2014 I made a font called Whatnot. I think I made with with a roller ball pen, but I am not sure, as it was a long timer ago. I have always liked Whatnot font and I think it deserves a second lease on life, so I made a new (and improved) version of it, called Whatnot 22. Not Catch 22... It now comes with better kerning, multilingual support (including Vietnamese, Sami and Greek) and a cool set of contextual alternates that cycles as you type.

Sink your teeth into the heavy-hitter Sistine Family consisting of Regular to Extra Black weights along with an extra black stencil style. They are a tough and industrious set of typefaces suited perfectly for headlines and poster design, and so much more. The Opentype ligatures feature swaps in special THE & AND (by typing a space before and after THE or AND in all capitals), as well as a double cap L option. Stylistic Alternates include a variant Q and R for all styles.

Youbee is a casual serifed font that is highly legible. It has a bit of contrast, but not much. It could be used as book text, but is better suited for less formal uses such as newsletters and pamphlets. Youbee gets its name from it origin, the Ultimate Blend (UB) of four very different typefaces: Euroika, Ingriana, BetterTypeRight, and KampFriendship. The earliest members of the family were constructed in 1996, with a shadow version added in 2011, extra weights in 1999, and two different widths in 2022.

Typewriters are becoming scarce, but fonts designed to look like they came from typewriters aren't. In this case, however, Gripewriter is meant to look as if it were typed on a textured paper and enlarged, emphasizing flaws and lending it a funkier, grungier look than your average typewriter face. This was originally called Hypewriter until it was pointed out that a font already existed with that name. The current name is a better fit, anyway, since Gripewriter looks like it might hold a grudge.

Dubbel Zout in Dutch means ‘Double Salt’. I admit, it sounds better in Dutch… Dubbel Zout is a kind of licorice which we (in Holland) love! Not many people actually like it, but I know of one addict in Denmark, who eats it by the bagful. Dubbel Zout is a ‘crayon-ish’ font - all caps, different upper and lower glyphs that you can mix and a royal assortment of diacritics. It may be an acquired taste, but once you get used to it, you’re hooked!

Being a Star is one thing, but being a Twisted one is even better! JWX Twisted Star incorporates your deep desire for stardom into each alpha and numeric glyph, in a bold bordered font. The upper case letters sport a trailing accent, making them shooting twisted stars. Generisch Mono is a monospaced version of Generisch Sans. Generisch - a german equivalent of generic - sans serif typeface has gain its own place among designers and earn such popularity due to its "simple" design. Generisch is influenced by early grotesk typefaces from early 1900's when sans was starting to get popular and used as a body type. Some old ligatures such as ch ck and ng are present in generisch (not the ct and st tho), old style numeral for better typesetting experience and more.
