A grunge-oriented secret code font, Dekapot Deluxxe has mysterious underlines and accent marks that pop up at seemingly random locations as you type. But these morse-code-like dots and dashes are not random at all, they're simply attached to the preceding letter to make things seem more cryptic than they really are. Get it? Originally released as a Chankstore freefont back in the '90s, Dekapot (translated from the Dutch as "the broken font") has a newly bulked-up character set to add functionality and professionalism to its all caps display nature. These are fresh new versions of this font, made to replace prior versions formerly known as Dekapot Masss and Dekapot Deluxxe. Poke around a bit and you'll find new glyphs for Central Europe and a new Cyrillic character set in there, too. OpenType users get DEKAPOT-PRO with lots of language support. The peculiarity of this alphabet is already its origin: the basic drawing was created by narrowing Roman capitals with corresponding lowercase letters. The goal was to create a monumental font for architecture and book covers. Surprisingly, however, Amor Sans has found its way into corporate identity, offices, magazines and packaging design. Its slightly narrowed, economical design predestines it for quick reading of shorter texts, which is why it is also excellent for theater posters and programs. Its moderate width proportions and rich selection of arrows and pointers are excellently used in public spaces. Amor Sans has a neutral expression that works harmoniously in any architectural style. It will serve as an orientation system in a medieval monastery as well as in a modern building, while remaining distinctive even in the dark. Spiraltwists is a family of 2 fonts giving assorted spiral shapes. In each font they're grouped in fours - the same basic spiral in 4 different orientations (N S E W almost), and Spiraltwists has solid lines making up the spirals, Spiraltwists Antique has dotted lines making up the spirals, giving them an antique or rustic appearance. Spiraltwists has heavier spirals on Upper Case, lighter spirals on lower case; plus a group of spirals with a straightened outer end and connecting lines so you get two spiral scrolls joined together by a long line at the top or bottom. I am a coffee person, but two years ago, just before the whole Covid-thing happened, I came down with what I assumed to be the flu. It was a really nasty flu as well: I was down for 10 days or so and when I sort of recovered, nothing tasted the same. Coffee tasted like cardboard and I couldn't stand the taste of it, so I decided to drink tea instead. The 'supermarket tea' we have in Holland is quite bad and tasteless, so I ordered some proper strong English tea online and I have been drinking it ever since. Of course I was thinking of this when I created Imperial Tea font. Imperial Tea font was made with... yes, you've guessed it: Chinese ink and a brush. Imperial Tea is a nice, 'oriental-ish' looking font that comes with a set of alternate glyphs and an impressive language support, including Vietnamese and Greek.

Started during 2012, LCT Palissade is a letter type belonging to the Didone classification. It takes over the Italian characters from the XVII century. Century affected by a huge artistic and industrial mutation, we assist to the eruption of the railroad network and Turner’s paintings. In typography, the Didones(XVIIe) begins to concede the place to the Egyptians XIXe. We noticed an evolution to rectangular drawings, that were heavier and darker. LCT Palissade is in fact the study of a history flow, crossing through the industrial revolution and romanticism; the result of a strong letter type, solid, strict the drawing is orientated towards very dark, reminiscent of the characters beginning XIXe. The serifs are the summary between the British characters from the end of (XVIe) and the Italian ones beginning of (XVIIe). In order to spread out the romanticism, they are very fine to allow a largest contrast and keep the elegance of the global shape.

The letters of Bihext fit into the trapezoids formed by bisecting hexagons from the top corner to the bottom corner. Because these trapezoids have two orientations, there are two sets of characters and the typeface was designed assuming that the user would want to alternate these two character sets. The alternating of characters is done automatically with the OpenType feature of contextual alternatives (calt) in applications that support it. The typeface is monospaced with very tightly letter spacing. If the letter spacing seems too tight, consider alternating colors to make the individual letters stand out as an alternative to loosening the letter spacing. Almost certainly the user will need to adjust line spacing if more than one line of text is used. The family includes an outline style that can be used in a layer above the filled style. A decorative, display face, Bihext is too difficult to read to be used for long text.

Kъnig – the old Bulgar runes The writing kъnig emerged in the places of ancient Thraco-Bulgarian migrations in ante-deluvial times and developed in stages paralleling the other ancient writings. There have been many interactions and loanings between kъnig and these other writings. The root of the word kъnig (OBg: кънигъı) comes from the Old Chinese k'üen 'scroll' (ModCh: 纸卷 zhǐjuǎn) [57]. The word was loaned directly in the Bulgar language (*kün'ig > *küniv) restoring two individual Old Chuvash forms: 1. *k'ün'čьk > кўнчěк kind of ornament on a woman's garment; *k'ün'-gi / *k'ün'-üg > k'ün'iv book, codex, which is evidenced by the Hungarian könyv book and Mordvinian konov paper borrowings; 2. *k'ün'i- > *k'ün'i-gi > к'әn'iγь > кънигъı. This word has been preserved in Sumerian as kunuku (inscription) and kəniga (writing, knowledge). It is inherited from Bulgar to Slavic: книга (Bulgarian and Russian), књига (Serbian, Croatian and Slovenian), kniha (Czech and Slovak), książka (Polish), and non-Slavic: könyv (Hungarian) languages. Amherst is a family of blackletter-inspired typefaces. This family, created by British designer Richard Yeend in 2002, is unique in that it mains the feel of blackletter/medieval type without relying directly on historical forms. Amherst is split into two different sub-families, Amherst and Amherst Gothic. Amherst is very geometric interpretation of Fraktur. Fraktur was a style of German type very popular in central Europe from 1517 until the early 20th Century. Its letters appear "broken" at certain angles and joints. Still, we recommend using it primarily for display purposes. Amherst is available in three weights: Regular, Bold, and Heavy. Amherst Gothic is very loosely inspired by late medieval letterforms, often called Texturas or Gothics. However, the letterforms of Amherst Gothic seem just as inspired by the Art Deco movements of the 1920s and by contemporary sans serif type design as anything else. Nevertheless, certain letters in this typeface do appear more "gothic" than others, especially A, D, M, Y, d, r, and x. Amherst Gothic is made up of three fonts, Amherst Gothic Split, Amherst Gothic Split Alternate, and Amherst Gothic Italic. Amherst Gothic Split has in-lined characters, and appears very ornamented. The alternate characters in Amherst Gothic Split Alternate are quite medieval in their appearance. Amherst Gothic Italic is the least medieval-looking of the set; its characters are very round, and more geometric. Casagrande Collection has been designed in 2020 by the Italiantype Team (Manuel Alvaro, Valentino Coppi and Mario De Libero), working in close collaboration with Italian lettering artist, illustrator and calligrapher Alberto Casagrande, with help from the Zetafonts Team (Francesco Canovaro, Andrea Tartarelli and Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini). The goal of the project was to use as inspiration Alberto's colorful, vintage themed digital illustration style to develop a suite of closely related typefaces that, used together, would allow designers to replicate the nostalgic charme of Italian poster and product design from the thirties and the forties. Two color overprints, coarse dithering, handmade calligraphy, reminiscences of art deco, hints of modernism and pop culture references: all this and more mixed in a exuberant and playful collection, created with illustrators, poster artists and book cover designers in mind. The final product is 24-font package with six display families with styles varying from the thirties-inspired Antifascista (3 weights + 3 dithering weights) and Deco (3 weights + 3 inline weights), to the modernist Casabau (5 weights), to the geometric Grind (4 widths), to the vintage elegance of the two script families, Reclame and Casatiello. For some time, Eric de Berranger had wanted to create a distressed typeface design - one that gave the appearance of antique printing and showed signs of wear, yet was still highly readable. He was busy designing a new face called Maxime, when an idea struck: I realized that I could use these lettershapes as the basis for my antique typeface," he says. The two faces ended up being designed in tandem. While ITC Oldbook clearly captures the flavor of aged, uneven and imperfect printing, it also meets de Berranger's goal of being exceptionally readable in text sizes. Beginning with well-drawn characters was the key, and these were carefully modeled into the distressed forms. "The process was more difficult than I originally thought," says de Berranger. "The antique letters had to be tested and modified several times to work correctly." ITC Oldbook elegantly simulates antique printing in both text and display sizes. And while stroke weights are uneven and curves are irregular, the design has remarkably even color when set in blocks of text copy. Berimbau is a whimsical narrow hand-drawn typeface. It’s stylish, versatile and loaded with amazing OpenType features that do their magic in OpenType savvy applications. The Englishman William Caslon punchcut many roman, italic, and non-Latin typefaces from 1720 until his death in 1766. At that time most types were being imported to England from Dutch sources, so Caslon was influenced by the characteristics of Dutch types. He did, however, achieve a level of craft that enabled his recognition as the first great English punchcutter. Caslon's roman became so popular that it was known as the script of kings, although on the other side of the political spectrum (and the ocean), the Americans used it for their Declaration of Independence in 1776. The original Caslon specimen sheets and punches have long provided a fertile source for the range of types bearing his name. Identifying characteristics of most Caslons include a cap A with a scooped-out apex; a cap C with two full serifs; and in the italic, a swashed lowercase v and w. Caslon's types have achieved legendary status among printers and typographers, and are considered safe, solid, and dependable. Carol Twombly designed this Caslon revival for Adobe in 1990, after studying Caslon's own specimen sheets from the mid-eighteenth century. This elegant version is quite true to the source, and has been optimized for the demands of digital design and printing. Adobe Caslon? makes an excellent text font and includes just about everything needed by the discriminating typographer: small caps, Old style Figures, swash letters, alternates, ligatures, expert characters, central European characters, and a plethora of period ornaments.
