In August 1930, Jan Tschichold described a new typeface, that is "producable by everybody without further knowledge" in the publication Börsenblatt für den Deutschen Buchhandel. Sebastian Nagel has extended the original drawing to 7 weights (black, extrabold, bold, semibold, regular, semilight and light), with full coverage of the Latin 1 character set. All fonts also include small caps and alternate characters.

The Art Deco hand lettered opening credits for the 1936 French drama “La Belle Équipe” [English title: “They Were Five”] provided the inspiration for Foreign Film JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. According to Wikipedia, the film “…tells the story of five unemployed workers who win the jackpot in the national lottery but their solidarity then proves fragile.”

DeVinne Ornamental is a display typeface from the famous Parisian typefoundry Deberny & Peignot, developed around 1900. Its style has become synonymous with the Art Noveau period, which was raging internationally when DeVinne Ornamental's letters were first drawn. The typeface is named after the renowned American printer Theodore Low DeVinne (1828-1914). Optimal uses for DeVinne Ornamental include headlines in magazines and newsletters.

Transistor is a decorative and electronic serif typeface. One of the historical connection was the Didot, development in French. Transistor typeface was designed from the concept and experimentation with electronic circuits. A playful, casual take on round nib pen lettering was spotted amongst some online scans from an old lettering book. Murbia was written with a glimmer-pen which has left the letters with a grungy look. Coquillage is French for seashell or shellfish. Since I’m going to France this year for a camping holiday with my family, I thought it was a good idea to give this charming connected script a ‘holiday name’! Coquillage was handmade with a Japanese pen. It is a lovely connected script and comes with double-letter ligatures and a full range of diacritics.

This font was made possible by creating a custom brush in Illustrator. I started with a flat brush dipped in India ink to create the stroke. From a scan of that stroke I made a vector tracing which I then I altered as necessary to get the desired dimensions. The lower case letters have a thinner stroke than the capitals.

The modern incidental, decorative and poster font that imitates the modern household handwriting or handwriting with a capillary or gel pen and rapidograph. There are letters of the Russian and Latin alphabets in upper and lowercase with alternative outlines and ligatures, numbers from 0 to 9, simple fractions, mathematical and punctuation marks, different types of quotes and brackets in the set of characters.

Dusty Hands - my crunchy legible comic font, originally with a fat marker and then digitally manipulated. I've made 3 versions for you, and they all fit like a glove - use them as they are, or do some layered effects. All versions have the "contextual alternates magic" - and in this case it means 4 slightly different versions of each lowercase letter.

Conveyor Belt was designed for an environmental paper made from sugar cane waste called bagasse. The paper mill use conveyor belts to produce the paper from when the bagasse gets loaded to the finished paper product. This was the inspiration for this font. It has some alternatives to give options for different words linking different letters. This is a moving font and flowing.

This jaunty display face was discovered in one of the many books on sign writing produced by Eric Matthews. The work was signed “King Cole", hence the font’s name. This typeface’s large x-height and tight spacing make it highly suitable for attention-grabbing headlines. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

There was a time in this country when many young people studied a trade via a correspondence course through the mail. While this method still exists, it's now more common to find students taking online classes. From an early-1960s course in sign painting comes Sign Merchant JNL, a classic brush stroke type design popularized on show cards and posters.

Commodore JNL and Commodore Oblique JNL are based somewhat on the Clarendon family of typefaces that were popular in the 1800s and used on many of the broadsides and notices printed with wood type. The extra-wide design of this font limits the amount of text that a headline can handle effectively, but when applied sparingly it commands attention and sells the message.

This font contains every variant found in the Hebrew Bible such as the “mutilated” Waw in Numbers 25: verse 12, the small Heh in Genesis 2: verse 4 and the Nun Inversum before Numbers 10: verse 35 and after verse 36 and elsewhere as well as certain oversized consonants such as the Shin with hireq from the beginning of the Song of Songs.

Baltasar is a handwritten, brush script with ligatures and contextual alternates to help with flow and readability. Every lowercase letter has three variations. When the font is used in OpenType-savvy applications, the 3 variants of glyphs are automatically alternated to achieve a random-like effect. Language support includes Western, Central and Eastern European character sets, as well as Baltic and Turkish languages.

This font was called differently when I started out building it, but after a long and insightful conversation with a good friend, I decided to call it Nebulous Promise. Nebulous Promise was made using a broken satay skewer (I like using those!) and Chinese ink. It comes with a full set of alternates for the lower case letters and extensive language support.
