This is my latest release : monmica family - a set of three multilingual, handwritten stylish copperplate calligraphy fonts. The files listed here are containing 1118, 1229 and 2018, glyphs respectively. There are many open type features: fancy swashes, alternates, ligatures, contextual alternates, fractions etc. - all easily available at the click of a mouse. Those fonts allow for creating text in majority of languages where Latin script is used.

Among many of Alf Becker’s contributions to Signs of the Times magazine was 1 1935 offering named Chicago Modern Thick and Thin, which provided the inspiration for this face. I made Cut Along by stealing some red cardboard from my kids (red, because they didn’t have any black…) and cutting out the glyphs one by one with a pair of scissors. I then pasted the shapes onto white paper, scanned them and turned them into a font. Cut Along is a very nice font for ads, book covers, packaging and children’s books. Enjoy!

This lettering style is unusual in that combines aspects of several lettering styles. It is essentially a Germanic Blackletter but with many romanized capital letters and also features an italic slant along with some italic lower case traits. It is evocative of “old world” craftsmanship and early 20th century romanticism. The font was developed based on the logo of the Lakin Company of Buffalo, NY circa 1900.

Morris Fuller Benton’s Eagle, designed for ATF in 1934, which did yeoman-like duty on many WPA posters of the time. This version, unicase as was the original, has been designed to set tight, so that it creates dense and commanding headlines. All three fonts - Dropout, Rough Diamond and Thorny, evolved from experimenting with a cubic template devised as the basis for a retro display type series titled ‘Flashback’. I experimented with numerous shapes initially to see which forms lent themselves best to the negative spaces forming the characters. Although many interesting variants are possible within this context, these three were resolved best out of the several options tried.

With Quote Note I did my best to make a simple and unsophisticated font. I wanted the letters to come out as if they were made with a fat marker on a note. Well, I'll let you be the judge on how I succeeded. I've added 4 different versions of each lowercase letter and even did a simple complimentary dingbat. And of course there is multilingual support!

Sticky Annie is the latest in the series of fonts I've designed that are named after my wife. Little bundles of overlapping sticks or lines make up each character. It's made to look good at small font sizes, but the bigger, the better. At small sizes it's fun and a little childish. At bigger sizes, especially in all-caps, it looks intricate, distinctive and stately.
