The Etalage-script has been drawn for the first time in the year 2000, based on a early 20th century lettering stencil with what farmer Boelema at Lalleweer stenciled his grainsacks. Eventually the script letter was developed as a typeface with a wink to the ‘lost’ displaytypes for the ‘display window’ of graphic designer Ariënne Boelens, who in exchange made the website www.lalleweer.nl. What originated the Ariënne should be evident now.

Japanese type designer Akira Kobayashi created this serif FontFont between 1998 and 2000. The family has 10 weights, ranging from Regular to Bold (including italics) and is ideally suited for book text, festive occasions as well as editorial and publishing projects. FF Acanthus provides advanced typographical support with features such as ligatures, small capitals, alternate characters, and case-sensitive forms. Chank worked with Josh Eshbach, an intern from Minneapolis College of Art and Design, to create Cocaine as the Chank Font of the Month for November 2000. Inspired by Speedball type designs of the ’20s and ’30s, Cocaine has been redrawn and streamlined for use in the digital age. Curvy and round and relishing in its idiosyncrasies, Cocaine recalls vintage French wine posters and antique sheet music covers.

Nonpress is a display font that draws inspiration from the distinctive aesthetic of 90s zines, and exudes a varied and extravagant style that lends a certain nonchalance to projects. Dortmund v1.02 2023, Oct 02 Dortmund is a sans-serif type family designed to offer support for most Latin script languages. Dortmund has nine weights, each with corresponding italics, 710 glyphs, and 17 OpenType features (aalt, calt, case, ccmp, dnom, frac, locl, numr, ordn, pnum, sinf, ss01, ss02, subs, sups, tnum, zero). Dortmund supports 377 languages and covers 3 Unicode blocks (Basic Latin, Latin-1 Supplement, Latin Extended-A).

I have no particular love for pigeons, but I read an interesting article about war pigeons being used to send messages to an fro. One pigeon (called William of Orange) even saved more than 2000 soldiers during the Battle of Arnhem. Pigeon Post is a lovely cartoon and kids font. It comes in a sans and a serif style, so there’s really no excuse for not using it!

Oh Honey is a handmade, feminine, new retro serif font made in 2021 by an artist who wanted to create an organic font to stand out in a world of rigid letterforms. Use Oh Honey for logos, headings, packaging, weddings, self help and fiction book covers and anywhere where you want to stand out with artsy sophistication. According to one font enthusiast, "This font is the typographic zeitgeist!"

A universal text type was designed by Natalia Vasilyeva for ParaType in 2007. The type family is consist of 8 styles. Also corresponding decorative italic with calligraphic swash capitals was developed. The type has low contrast characters and narrow proportion. It is rather space-saved but very legible even in small sizes. For use in text and display typography. The upgraded version with extended character set was released in 2010.

After Marcovaldo, here comes Visconte: a new singularity variant expanding the Calvino typeface family by Andrea Tartarelli with Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini and Francesco Canovaro as a branding font for the Desina Graphic Design Festival in 2023. It takes the design of the original Calvino typeface in the "brutal serif" territory, expanding spiky serifs and creating unexpected distortions and connections while keeping the original calligraphic old style structure of the Calvino Family.

Cruz Cantera is a crisp and stylish yet informal sans serif typeface created by NYC type designer Ray Cruz. It is a slightly condensed design. The vertical strokes have rounded terminals, and there are some characters with serifs. Notable characters include the upper and lowercase E. There are three weights and each works equally well alone, or together for both display and text. Original design by Ramon Cruz completed in 2002.

Teamhair Tower is a “rough” monowidth font based on the face used on the old Sears Tower Gaelic manual typewriter. Teamhair was first digitized in 2002 by Michael Everson and originally used the MacGaelic character set on the Macintosh platform, and ISO/IEC 8859-14 on the PC. In 2008 Doire version 3 was released in OpenType format, completely compliant with Unicode encoding and with an extended character set.

Designed at ParaType in 1996-2002 by Tagir Safayev. Inspired by works of Russian Constructivists of the 1920s and 30s: Alexander Rodchenko, Varvara Stepanova, Vladimir and George Stenberg, Gustav Klutsis and others. A geometrical, caps and small caps only, sans serif design. The glyphs are formed using straight lines only. Totally simplified, this face is perceived as a symbol of Russian Avant Garde. Cubest is a geometric sans-serif typeface. Created by Mans Greback in 2021, this futuristic font has a square, monolined appearance with a retro-digital style. The family consists of eight styles: In addition to Light, Medium and Bold, it is also provided as Cubest Monospace and Cubest Variable, plus each weight as Italic. The font supports all European Latin-based languages and contains all symbols, characters, punctuation and numbers.

Designed for ParaType in 2002 by Tagir Safayev. Inspired by the letterforms of Antique No. 8 typeface and other similar fonts of the 19th century (Latin Antique, Wide Latin, Etienne Condensed, Wide Renaissance). A face of so-called Latin type has stout triangular serifs and rather unusual curls on several letters in the lower case. Nevertheless it is eminently suitable for a wide variety of settings in advertising and display typography.

In the 1990s Adobe’s MultipleMaster technology introduced interpolation into font editing programs. Though the obvious use of interpolation was to create an unlimited number of weights for a font, interpolation could also be used to crossbreed two completely different typefaces. IngrianEuroikaH is a hybrid resulting from such crossbreeding of two very different parents. Euroika is a decorative font with high contrast and thin, square serifs while Ingriana is a relaxed, informal typeface. IngrianEuroikaH was constructed in 1995-6; updates in 2012 and 2020 cleaned up many of the remaining oddities that resulted when parts of the parent fonts clashed. The family retains some peculiarities from the method of its construction but is highly readable as text. The IngrianEuroikaH family has six styles: regular, semibold, bold, italic, semibold italic and bold italic.

Bramante™ is an original display font by LetterPerfect Fonts, designed by Garrett Boge in 2020. It is modeled after a fifteenth-century inscription in the church of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere, Rome. The name is a tribute to the pre-eminent Renaissance architect Donato Bramante, whose Tempietto (1502, San Pietro in Montorio) marked the beginning of the High Renaissance in Rome. In 1503 he was named lead architect for the new St. Peter's Basilica, which was completed by Michelangelo, Maderno and Bernini a century later. Based on the pervasive use of Adobe Trajan as a classical-inspired titling face, LetterPerfect offers this Renaissance revival of imperial Roman capitals as an alternative with additional refinement and personality.
