Plywood is based on a long lost American film classic: Franklin Typefounders's Barker Flare from the early 1970s. Plywood is a surprisingly effective mix between the rigid confidence of nineteenth century wood types and the smooth feminine curves of twentieth century art nouveau ideas. With many variations on almost every letter in the alphabet, it's a versatile typeface that can make itself timelessly at home in multiple design environments, with motifs ranging from the strong and western to the crafty and artsy. Plywood's very expanded character set comes in all popular font formats, including a Pro version that takes advantage of OpenType's many character alternating features in supporting programs.

The name Moreske, Maureske, Morisca, Morisco comes from Spanish “Mauritanian”. This ornament is based on the greenery motif with strongly stylized stems and leaves fancifully interlacing. Such ornaments were widely used in the 16th century in various decorations from architecture to household goods, and book covers in particular. The font contains high quality vector graphics with elaborate attention to details. This collection consists of friezes (borders) and closed compositions in the shape of circles, squares, rectangles and triangles that can be organized into repeats (patterns). Morseke 2D can be easily used not only in a traditional approach, but also in grunge stylistics enriching your compositions.

The Gramma font family provides about 240 very basic graphic structures. Compilation of of this set has been inspired not by symblic but by graphical-morphological concerns. Therefore the three fonts (A, B, C) represent the entirety of all possible and simple graphic forms. Glyphs of this kind are likely to be found anywhere: in scripts, in signage, in branding marks – and so on. So, the Gramma font package is applicable to a great variety of usage. Alejandro Paul’s Brownstone Slab is based on his own popular, award-winning, Brownstone Sans typeface.  Like the original Sans, Brownstone Slab is a 21st-century design, influenced by the Victorian decorative motifs of the ironwork and carved decorations of New York City row houses. Brownstone Slab’s sturdy serifs make it slightly more masculine and solid than its predecessor. As with Brownstone Sans, Brownstone Slab includes character sets for Latin-based languages, including Western and Eastern European, Baltic, Turkish, Maltese, Celtic and Welsh. It includes over 1500 glyphs, including small capitals, swash characters, alternates, and ligatures, in both Light and Thin weights. Ornamental frames are provided in all weights.

Set of ornaments based on the decorative motifs used by the first typographic workshop in Buenos Aires: “Imprenta de Niños Expósitos”, between 1780 and 1824. This set is the product of an extensive historical research that aims to identify the type that came from Europe to the City during colonial times, and during the first years of Argentina’s independence. This group has a lot of diversity, which fluctuates between organic baroque forms and geometric neoclassical. Its characters can be used in editorial design along with Roman typefaces, they work individually or grouped to form different figures, guards or frames. It was baptized in honor to the first printer who worked in the workshop: the Spanish Agustín Garrigós.

Darcy is bold and exuberant. As an all-cap family (exception “i”), every letter has an artsy, handmade alternate. For the most joyful bounce, choose all lower or mix up the cases. For a more even baseline, go with all uppercase. Darcy Prints has gestural, organic motifs and patterns, including leaves, grasses, flowers and abstract shapes. Each playful letter has two options with different looks easily available in upper/lower places. Darcy Designs is a cheerful picture font adapted from 26 of the hand-drawings in Darcy Prints. This font set is based on Frank Lloyd Wright's hand-lettering found on the Chicago Midway Gardens working drawings from 1913. This type of architectural lettering is a bit more casual than standard lettering found on most blueprints. It evokes the personality of Frank Lloyd Wright and complements the other fonts in the P22 FLW font series. Midway One and Midway Two can be used interchangeably to give a more naturalistic feeling of hand lettering. Midway Ornaments features over 100 decorative border elements that can be combined is many ways for surprising and effective decorative motifs. Albion's Americana is a fun display family and a tribute to our transatlantic friends. The stars and stripes motif is applied to an American inspired all capitals Roman display face, producing something that is bold and boisterous and well...American. The regular face is intended for conventional use, while the 'Black', 'Red', 'White' and 'Blue' faces are designed to facilitate patriotic multi-coloured lettering (of course, you can use other colours as well). It's worth trying out different combinations here- Black and White alone work well, as does read, white and blue minus black. Albion's Americana Companion is also offered, intended as a small or all capitals face for subsidiary lettering. Next time you need some graphic typesetting with that American feel, this is your answer!

New Old English was prompted by two Victorian coins, the mid nineteenth century gothic crown and gothic florin, which featured a gothic script lowercase with quite modern looking, short ascenders and descenders enabling it to fit snugly around the queen’s head or heraldic motif. With thicker hairline strokes than normal Old English, a less sharp, warmer feel than lettering scripted with a pen, and circular instead of rhombic punctuation, this font is an attempt to capture the round-cornered softness of the die-struck lowercase blackletter. To increase harmony and homogeneity between the cases, the uppercase is narrower and simpler than is customary, without the excessive width or antiquated flamboyance of the traditional blackletter. It might even allow text set in capitals to look acceptable.

Festival Script is a logical evolution within the deco script territory previously explored by Koziupa and Paul in efforts like Aranjuez, Bellas Artes, Heraldica and Tanguera. In Festival Script, strong bilinear contrast and ornamental swashes combine to convey a sense of modern luxury. This combination echoes the current trend in consumer goods of elevating simple, everyday products to objects of desire. Festival’s basic structure is the familiar Koziupa aesthetic of tapering stems and sharp endings, but this time informed by a more geometric sensibility. A wide variety of thin, ribbonlike strokes add a beautifully ornamental feel, evoking Argentine “filete” motifs. Almost every letterform includes multiple alternates, providing design possibilities from minimal to exuberant. Festival Script Pro is loaded with alternates, swashes, endings and Latin-based language support.

Sansduski is a sans-serif decorative/display family. Its very high x-height and tight spacing make it more suitable for use at large point sizes than small point sizes. (There are better options if one wants a readable text font.) It comes in nine weights and one outline style, with an oblique style accompanying each of these ten styles to give a total of 20 styles in the family. The letter O is a rectangle with rounded corners and this shape motif is carried over to other characters that are usually rounded. For a monospaced rather than proportional version of this design idea, see SansduskiMono. Sansduski is appropriate for titles, posters, advertising, and other uses that benefit from simple letter forms that are geometric and clean.

Teip, designed by Alex Jacque in 2014, is a layerable geometric typeface system. Teip developed as a typographic exploration of overlapping tape where a over/under, foreground/background interplay would be a stylistic motif throughout. For the most part, the uppercase characters have a vertical stress in the foreground, while lowercase have the horizontal stressed in the foreground. Because this is a unicase typeface, upper and lower case glyphs can be mixed for a more random feel in the shape of individual words and the flow of sentences. In Teip, glyph widths and kerning are the same across all styles and weights. This opens up the ability to easily layer one style on top of another to create a large number of color and stylistic combinations.

Donchenko Serif is a leisurely, elegant, minimalist serif typeface that combines references to medieval half-uncials with Art Nouveau motifs. Its styles are well readable and at the same time have individual features, which makes this typeface stand out from the rest. Donchenko Serif is a "universal soldier". It's great for any challenge. It is also good for typing books or articles, designing corporate identity and promotional materials, or creating display cases. A wide range of Latin, Greek, Cyrillic and special characters provides extensive language support for all European languages. Font Donchenko Serif Regular was developed by designer Oleksandr Donchenko in Lviv (Ukraine) in the first half of 2022. His daughter - Sofia Donchenko - took part in the development some letters. Donchenko Serif - Good font for good people!

FangsALot is a bizarre typeface family that was designed to alternate two character sets. These sets are alternated automatically in applications that support the OpenType feature Contextual Alternatives (calt). The template used to design characters is a distorted triangle that resembles a curved tooth or a fang. This shape can be flipped horizontally, vertically, and both horizontally and vertically to give four orientations. Two of these orientations are used in the regular style and two in what is called the italic style. I thought the fang motif did not come through clearly in the regular and italic styles. Rather the impression they give is more like graffiti lettering. To emphasize the fang motif I added two more members to the family by filling fang outlines with unadorned sans-serif characters. Then to allow more color in lettering, I added two more styles with letters on black. I then had six styles based on triangles skewed left and right. Why not fill the family out with three more styles based on an isosceles triangle? The end result is a family of nine. All members of the family are monospaced and are hard to read. The three graffiti-like styles have some alternative letters that can be accessed with the OpenType feature Stylistic Sets. Also, for each style it is possible to use only one set of characters by adding a space after each letter and then adjusting the character spacing. The graffiti-like styles can be useful in situations where the hard-to-read property is not important but where a menacing and vicious touch is needed, such as topics of sharks, teeth, biting, and vampires.

Warhol is a font family designed by Carlos Fabian Camargo. Its 3 fonts work in groups or independent. His carefree soul lies in the sensibility, creativity and abstract motivations listening to the album: The Velvet Underground & Nico released in 1967. Preparations for his typographic design were illustrated by imagining extravagant, fascinating and hard-to-resist ideas, That is why his brushstrokes of the alphabet were born of irregularity, with naive character and expressive drawing, notable with the discordance and instability of drawing by Andy Warhol, infiltrated with pop folk art and artisan harmony. Warhol is a font family offers uppercase, lowercase and numbers that work at the beginning, middle or end of words, achieving calligraphic expressiveness. The font Arsena was designed for a contest on the creation of modern Ukrainian business font "Arsenal" and awarded the 3rd prize. A little squared figure which is enlightened from the middle, unobvious, but the existing modular grid, simplified, but not a primitive design of letters, mathematically defined optimum inclination angle, counterbalanced ratio of thickness, an optimum spacing and a manual kerning - all of this is for the best reproduction in any conditions as well as for the maximum clarity and readability. Asymmetric slab serifs make the font Ukrainian and at the same time have a modern and dynamic look. Besides its highlighting function, Italics also have an independent assignment. The Italics are made under calligraphic traditions in a modern style of mono-thickness (but optically compensated) and in particular, in combination with alternative initials of the same style and it is relevant to use it in a private letter, or in the design of the official greetings, etc. It is also promoted by four typographic ornamental motives. Due to the above-mentioned qualities this font can be used successfully for a wide range of tasks - from business to mass media, publishing, advertising and accidental.

Zulia is located in the west of Venezuela and it is the state in where Joluvian grew up. It is a region of sunshine, high temperatures, oil and cheerful people, although we choose the name to honor his mother who is from there (zuliana) and who is proud of her land and everything that it represents the area. Zulia is also his first typographic project. It is based on two of his favourite calligraphic styles: italic and brush pen. He started with simple and contrasted strokes on paper with brush and marker. After that he developed the full alphabet and its various options for each letter, starting from a set of handmade forms that could be connected in different ways according to the user needs. What motivates him to involve this style was to create a differentiation with his daily work by generating a heavier type, contrasted and low rise. Zulia finally got life of its own with the participation of Alejandro Paul and a feedback of techniques and skills that were generated with the duo work. Zulia is not just a typeface, Zulia is his love of letters.

HaruNami (“spring wave”) fuses Japanese ornamentation with the Roman alphabet. All the motifs in the typeface are based on traditional Japanese wave ornamentation. HaruNami has a unique stylistic system that ranges from Simple to Ornate. The Simple font is a purely functional sanserif that is ready to use as text type. The three other styles, Decorative, Embellished and Ornate, progressively apply the wave ornamentation to the capital letters. HaruNami Complete ships as a unified OpenType font, and as a set of individual fonts. If you're using an application that supports OpenType features, we recommend using the Unified font. Star Ornaments are seen as a long standing companion to many wood type poster layouts. Various manufacturers managed to derive many variations of the five pointed star motif and offered them as a ubiquitous ornament option in almost all of their catalogs. Manufacturers such as Wm. H Page, Morgans & Wilcox, Tubbs Mfg. Co. and of course, Hamilton Wood Type each had their own slight variations. This digital font features almost 100 glyphs of mostly stars, but it also features a unique star border that can create boxes just like the modular offerings of the 19th century. Inspired by the Roman lettershapes that Asensio y Mejorada drew in 1780, Frontis is a text typeface that takes this reference just as a starting point. The delicate appearance of Neoclassical fonts becomes confidence in Frontis. The characters have a solid skeleton, and the text looks classy in the condensed half of the family. A style that shines especially at display sizes. A collection of vegetal motifs and some stylistic uppercase ligatures complete the character set. Akira Kobayashi's ITC Seven Treasures is a symbol font for use in patterns and textures. The interlocking patterns, usually circular or oval, are taken primarily from motifs used in Japanese textiles. Most of these designs are known as komon, or tiny patterns," and they are often applied to kimono and other textiles, although their use is not limited to fabrics. They also appear carved in wood in traditional architecture, and painted in pictures as background patterns. Each of the individual designs in ITC Seven Treasures Ornaments is carefully sized and spaced so that it will fit together into a continuous pattern. Most overlap slightly but precisely, so that when you type a row of them you can't tell where one leaves off and the next begins. They may be combined or alternated to vary the texture of a background pattern."

Just like the M.C. Escher impossible figures and optical illusions, "Denedo" is a font that is impossible to construct in three dimensions because it only exists as a drawing. This font is based on the "0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9" characters of one of the alphabets published by Nedo Mion Ferrario in the "Letromaquia" exhibition that was shown in Caracas, Venezuela in the 70's. The reason why I chose to restore and complete this font is that unique and exceptional personality that each word acquires when it is written with this alphabet. Denedo is a typographic family in three styles: Denedo 1A, 1B and 1C. When mixing them in big sizes you will emphasize the balance and incongruity of its shapes, providing originality and a unique identity to every word. All of the 3 variations include a complete character set with the lower and upper case letters, numbers, accents, diacritic signs, punctuation and monetary signs. All the fonts included in this family are available in Open Type format and are perfectly compatible with Mac and PC. Nanami Rounded is a heavily engineered follow up to the hugely successful Nanami, which debuted at MyFonts #1 Hot New Fonts for over 2 weeks. Nanami Rounded is a carefully engineered take on the original Nanami family. We kept the curve very slight in order to keep the clean corporate balance, and not to go into a style that was too friendly. Nanami Rounded consists of 18 weights ranging from Thin through to Black. The intention with Capo was to make a typeface with a pinched, angled connection between curves and verticals. We have explored this incised, cut motif previously on typefaces, most notably Noah, Sabre and Harbour. These have focussed more specifically on stone-cut forms. For Capo we wanted to mix the expressive quality of its ‘pinch’ idea with an overall aesthetic that could be applied to text rather than headline. So Capo has something of the function and warm, organic quality of Grotesque style typefaces. In Capo’s Bold and Black weights the sharpness of the letter shapes is more dramatic and emphasised, making for great effect for large-sized text. Why Capo? A capo is a device used on the neck of a stringed (typically fretted) instrument to shorten the playable length of the strings by pinching or clamping them in place, hence raising the pitch.

Like traditional athletic block typefaces, VTF Charisma is built with chiseled cornersand a rigid skeleton. However, an underlying formula of fervor and functionality emerges in execution. The typeface features traditional block tendencies that are challenged by expressive angles and deviations in line weight that harken to penmanship. A typeface for telling stories. After seven years through which Rodrigo Saiani worked on Dupincel, Plau’s team still had months of dedication until found a good way of summing up this typeface. All this effort was rewarded, though, when we came up with a motif that gave Dupincel the grandiosity it deserves. Telling stories is this typeface’s gift because it has the emotion for it, resources for it and the breadth for it. Like all that wasn’t enough, it has the scale for it: optical sizes Small, Medium and Large make Dupincel optimized for stories of every length. From short stories displayed big or long stories on small letters. We don’t want to dictate the types of stories either, anything goes. Cohort is a strong and crisp geometric sans serif. Cohort uses a rounded rectangle as its central motif. Although the geometric design is minimalistic, Cohort has a variety of unique letterforms that keep the design from being too predictable and maintains a bit of beautiful nuance with plenty of legibility. Cohort's six different weights give it a great deal of versatility, from its sharp and potent black weight to the fresh and razor sharp thin. Cohort can be used for logotypes, headlines or short blocks of text. Cohort includes many useful OpenType features, including a set of upright italic swash alternates, ligatures, small caps, fractions and old style figures, sharper and more unique counterforms and simplified characters for titling. OpenType-capable applications such as the Adobe suite or Quark can take full advantage of automatically replacing ligatures and alternates. This family also includes the glyphs to support a wide range of latin based languages.

Balcony is a decorative display typeface inspired by the patterns of metal safety grills. Its highly geometric features may be used to identify it as Art Deco. It is a monospaced type family with all characters confined in a square frame. The main idea of Balcony is to create a grill-like pattern when letterforms are placed together. This creates an illusionary experience for the reader. The best way to use this typeface is without leading, as shown in the visuals. Balcony also comes with two stylistic sets. The first stylistic set contains most characters with more decorative elements and the second one includes Dingbats. These Dingbats are motifs with simple geometric patterns that may be used for any kind of ornamentation. The diacritics letterforms are geometrically squeezed within the square frame to include the accents. This experimental typeface comes with about 650 characters and four weights (Thin, Light, Regular and Bold). The font family supports Western and Central European languages.

SansduskiMono is a sans-serif decorative/display family that is monospaced. Its very high x-height and tight spacing make it more suitable for use at large point sizes than small point sizes. (There are better options if one wants a readable text font.) The letter O is a rectangle with rounded corners and this shape motif is carried over to other characters that are usually rounded. The origin of this face is in a previous typeface, BigStripesMono. That family was designed to use the OpenType feature Contextual Alternatives (calt) to put stripes on letters. It had only upper-case letters in one weight. SansduskiMono adds lower-case letters and eight more weights plus italics and outline styles for the black weights. SansduskiMono is appropriate for titles, posters, advertising, and other uses that benefit from simple letter forms that are geometric and clean.

My motivation for designing the Lalibela family (which is based on Bodoni) was to pay homage to Ethiopic script. The script has been around for about 3 000 years, but I took artistic licence to deviate from the original model and add personal touches. I chose Bodoni as a historical model because of its display value and not its text size use because the extreme contrast made it difficult to read at small sizes. A Modern typeface characterized by consistently horizontal stress, flat and un-bracketed serifs, and a high contrast between thin and thick strokes, were the final step in typography two-hundred-year journey away from calligraphy. The austerity, simplicity and greater contrast style was perfected.Contrary to all the refinements in Bodoni, I have revisited calligraphy with the font Lalibela that mimics Ethiopic Script. It was drawn with a much larger x height and less geometric than Bodoni for its primary use as a display font. For example, a lot of italic serifs were added to the roman face as well as 16 additional ligatures to obtain more a feel of calligraphy. I made the serifs thicker and bracket one side with straight steps obtaining a reduced contrast to withstand breaking up at smaller sizes.An additional variant, "Lalibela Alternate" was designed to provide an interesting mixing possibilities with the Bold face for more expressive headlines.

I will spare you the long-winded description this time and all of the motivations and witty innuendoes. Quite frankly, I forgot about creating this typeface and it sat on my hard drive for almost a year. Luckily, my daughter Isobel saw the initial drawings one day and ask me about those pretty letters and I remembered… yep, that happened. That said, time made this a better typeface… with fresh eyes and time, much was redrawn, retooled and expanded to something I truly enjoy playing with. Shameless makes extensive use of Contextual alternates to create a proper ebb and flow from letter to letter. Interestingly, there are only a handful of ligatures… instead many special combinations are accounted for solely by relying on Contextual Alts. Mix in Stylistic Alts, Swashes, responsive Titling Alts, numerous Style Sets, etc and you can have a lot of fun. I created 2 versions. A ‘Standard’ version that has 2200+ characters and a ‘Deluxe’ version that has 2400+ characters and an interesting caveat… I plan on expanding the Deluxe version any time I have an idea to add to the typeface… and as such, buyers will receive all of those updates at no charge (with updates going directly to the distributors).
