fracaso is an experimental font and was inspired by abstract / cubism artworks. My initial goal was to made it have a rather surreal and fancy mood. I painted the glyphs with seamless strokes and achieved an unusual style by developing an individual form for each glyph. So, due to contrasting various letter height and form each word have a unique, catchy, surreal rhythm. Several years ago I was faced with a project that required very small type to be used in a directory. In general, there was a need for a lot of 'fine print'. Faced with this, all of the tests I was making with existing faces were producing too much bleed of the individual glyphs...Cynapse was born. It evolved into this pseduo-techy looking type that standardized and glorified the ink trap (the small, tiny allowances of white space that reduces the amount of ink hitting the page, and in effect, reducing the appearance of bleed). The results was promising. The new OT version contains additional OpenType features that include expanded ligature sets, fractions, 5 sets of numerals as well as small caps and Central European diacritics.

Gudrun Zapf von Hesse designed the first sketches of Alcuin in 1986. The namesake of this typeface was an advisor of Charlemagne and was responsible for the writing reform of the Carolingian era. Alcuin was born in 735 in England, became an abbot in Tours and died there in 804. It was the idea of Zapf von Hesse to develop a modern text type based on the forms of the Carolingian minuscule. To create a text type that is excellent for a wide variety of applications, typical handwritten elements had to be discarded while still retaining the flow and character of handwriting. Alcuin with its strong calligraphic expression may be used in books, magazines, and also in the area of printed office communication.

Vary by Olli Meier is a geometric sans serif typeface inspired by Bulgarian Cyrillic. Vary is fun and adaptable and was built with three feelings (variations): classic, modern, and loopy, offering an opportunity for designers to be playful in their creations. The inspiration in Bulgarian Cyrillic is seen mostly in the character “g,” which was inspired by a very uncommon handwritten “?” spotted by the designer in a shop window in Sofia, Bulgaria. Historical influences coalesce with a contemporary twist to form the striking slab serif typeface Regime. In the early 19th century, as the Industrial Revolution began to transform Britain, the slab serif was born. The impact of new technology created a demand for a visual language that was compatible with mass-production and that could capture the attention of a newly-literate consumer. The design of the first slab serif typeface is credited to British punchcutter and typefounder Vincent Figgins and was released under the name Antique in 1815. In the same year, Napoleon was defeated at Waterloo. The name Regime alludes to this moment in history, when Britain emerged as the principal naval and imperial power of the 19th century.

Pomarosa is a typographic family that consists of capital roman letters and twisted lower case letters set randomly. Each one of them is characterized by its multiple calibers and widths. Pomarosa was planned to accompany graphic works done with different techniques and materials such as hand made collages. The narrowness of its glyphs involve its audience with abstract imprecision. Its spirit was born between fabric snippets intervened with pencil and painting. Its three members work in group and also in words or phrases with a non-finished look. Regular Pomarosa and Standard Pomarosa have 260 glyphs each. Both of them simulate to have been done by a right-handed person that works with its left hand. Pomarosa dingbats has 26 illustrations useful for frames and textures.

Bodoni Classic Deco Two, like the original Bodoni Classic Deco, breaks all rules. Giambattista Bodoni himself would probably hate me for doing it; he was a real purist. The whole idea of the Bodoni typeface is no embellishments and here I go and decorate those nice clear letters. Shame on me! But I find this is a very nice and useful typeface for all kinds of cards and certificates. So I just did it for all of you out there that are not born purists, and want a little embellishment to their lives. And to make things worse, I added a small caps cut. I even decorated the numbers.
