IngrimayneType has put letters inside a variety of objects, including bowling pins, book covers, coffee mugs, teapots, pumpkins, Christmas ornaments, train cars, tombstones, old bottles, circles, and rectangles. In each case the letters were placed on a single shape. The use of the Opentype feature of contextual alternatives makes it easy to use two different but alternating shapes. ButterflyWingz puts its letters on the right and left wings of a butterfly. The wings provide a large surface for drawing letters, but they have a odd shape so letters must be distorted to fit. The wings are symmetrical but some letters are not, so the right and left wing versions of the same letter are sometimes quite different. Without the contextual alternative feature one could design a typeface like ButterflyWingz but the user would have to alternate upper and lower case keys. With contextual alternatives turned on, the computer automatically alternates the letters creating a line of complete butterflies. Turning on the Opentype feature stylistic styles one (ss01) replaces the empty spaces with empty wings. However, sometimes an empty wing at the end of a line is unwanted and it can be removed by changing the typeface or by turning off the stylistic style for that character. The family contains two styles, a filled style and an outline style. They can be used separately or together in layers to add color. (Empty wings are on the logicalnot and registered characters.) ButterflyWingz is hard to read and should be used in small doses for decorative effects.

Paestum is a Latin typeface inspired by Greek inscriptions of the 6th and 5th centuries B.C. Its name comes, suitably, from the Latin name for Poseidonia, a former Greek city south of Naples whose two remaining Doric temples have been on antiquities tours since at least the 1700s. Others have scanned this terrain before, of course, but earlier designs failed to supply a lower case. Although Paestum includes complete upper- and lowercase alphabets, diacritics, numerals, and essential punctuation, it does not have many unhistorical glyphs -- such as currency symbols and the @ sign. Paestum comes with three weights: light, medium, and heavy.

Chimphand is an organic, natural and contemporary handwritten typeface with their tall x-height. Channel B was derived from the logo for Channel B, a British entertainment internet channel, anchored by former Soccer AM presenter Tim Lovejoy at www.dailymotion.com/channelbee. I’m not sure what it was in 2008 when I first ran across the logo, but that elegant capital B seemed to cry out for a font to support it. Many of the capitals, numbers and other glyphs of Channel B are split into a top and bottom, but not all. The tall, condensed capitals are contrasted to the rounded lowercase (derived from the bottom half of the B, rotated 180°).

Bucintoro is a modern version of the rotunda blackletter, the Gothic book hand of Italy and Spain in the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries. As the name implies, it's more "rotund" than the tall, angular Textur blackletter used in Germany that Gutenberg imitated. While the use of blackletter continued far into the 20th century in Germany and Scandinavia, the rotunda gave way to roman (and later also italic) letterforms in Italy, France, and Spain. It's less well known these days. Bucintoro has upper- and lowercase alphabets, numerals, punctuation, diacritics but lacks such modern characters as currency symbols. Has light, medium, and black weights.

My friends didn't use capitals when sending me text messages, e-mails and using all their digital toys. At the beginning, I was feeling ignored. But after time I thought, that... I can do something for them. And so, I've made Redaktor. Redaktor is a cute monospaced family of four fonts, which has only lowercase characters and large x-height. If you want to write an uppercase character, you can't do it. (OK, to be fair, there will be small underline, just to show you, what you have done...) You may find Redaktor useful for posters, titling, info-graphics or websites.

Umberland Slab is an attractive family available in 3 different weights with italics. There’s a particular emphasis on simple geometric shapes and the way they interact with tall vertical strokes. Smooth curves and sharp angles blend together in a pleasing symmetry. Stroke widths are given variable degrees of contrast but serifs are consistent and heavy handed. Spacing is on the tight side with some lowercase pairs quite snug against each other. Umberland Slab would work well in small blocks of text, corporate logos, menus, or signage. This family is equipped with European accents/diacritics for international support, fractions, alternates, and ligatures.

This cool techno font is easily recognizable with its quite unique stroke endings. I have increased the ascenders and descenders slightly (so they would work better with the new diacritic letters) and introduced a few alternate letterforms in addition to generally expanding the character set. A totally enjoyable reworking of an original design. Now also with a Bold and a brand new Light variant! Please note that these variants are made by adding/removing from the regular shape, so the letters no longer sits on the baseline. Sweet Upright Script is the first release for Sweet Fonts Collection, published by MVB Fonts. It is an interpreted revival of a vintage, social engraving lettering style that was popular during the 20th Century. It is probably the first digital version of the design. With the advent of the engraving machine (a pantograph device) around 1900, commercial engraving moved from the use of hand-cut plates to the use of masterplates (lettering patterns). Lettering was traced from the masterplate using the engraving machine, letter by letter, onto a coated steel plate, that would then be etched in a chemical bath. The resulting plate was used to print engraved stationery with the raised print distinctive to the process. Many of these lettering styles were used for decades for commercial and social applications (letterheads, wedding invitations, etc.), but as they were merely traced alphabets, were not "fonts". Many remain unavailable in digital form. Over time, a number of the most popular styles were adapted to phototype, which sped up the process of plating for engraving, avoiding the need to trace each letter by hand with the engraving machine. Later, when type went digital, these phototype fonts were revived as digital fonts. As a result, the styles offered by engravers narrowed over time, as has the range of engraving styles revived in digital form.
