Hal Taylor's ITC Outpost was not the result of a detailed design brief, nor was there a methodical development of key concepts or characters. Outpost just seemed to emerge all at once during a brief sketching session," says Taylor. "I guess what I was thinking of was an antiquated Western perception of some sort of Middle Eastern hand lettering - a 'mysterious East' sort of thing." Churchward Typestyle is a clean sans serif font, originally designed as a photo font by Joseph Churchward back in 2002. Under exclusive license, BluHead Studio has digitized this typeface by using his original drawings. We added any missing glyphs, being careful to maintain the aesthetic that makes this a classic Churchward design. Joseph intended this to be a six weight family, so we digitized the Light and Ultra Bold weights and interpolated the middle four. We enhanced the functionality of the family by creating a complimentary set of small caps, as well as creating a 10 degree oblique of each weight, being careful to correct the slanted curve forms of the letters. Churchward Typestyle is now an extensive 12 weight family, ranging in weights from Light to Ultra Bold, making it extremely useful in a broad range of design applications, from text and print, to display, posters and billboards. Well, I've added 7 slightly different versions of each letter, enough to make the font look like the real handwriting which was the base of the font. Fun fact: I had this song on repeat when finishing the font. I still do love that song! :)

Budare is a geometric font family that rebelled to find its own identity within an ocean of other typefaces of the same style. Its design is based on the shape of the wrought iron plate used in Venezuela and other countries to make arepas and other foods. Its appearance is strongly defined by basic geometric shapes such as the circle and its upright style is accompanied by rotated italics "rotalics" that complement its rebellious spirit. Linotype Really, designed by Gary Munch, is a typeface family of six weights with italics and small capitals that offers a broad palette of expressions to draw from, sensibly light to brightly stentorian. The moderate-to-strong contrast of the vertical to horizontal strokes recalls the Transitional and Modern styles of Baskerville and Bodoni, and the subtly obliqued axis of the stoke weight recalls the old-style faces of Caslon. A strong belt of sturdy serifs completes the Realist sensibility of a clear, readable, no-nonsense text face whose clean details offer the designer a high-impact display face.

Nightmare font is a simple attempt to convey the essence of a handwritten font with strong lines. In a real handwritten font, you would find more variation in line thickness, curves, and other design elements that contribute to the overall style. Creating a visual representation of a handwritten font using lines can be a bit challenging in plain text, but I'll provide a simple ASCII representation that may give you an idea of a strong handwritten style.
