Since 2017, I have been improving my font creating skills. In the same year, I went through my father's notes and decided to make a font with his handwriting style. I completed the initial version with a lower number of glyphs in 2018. It supported only basic Latin, Turkish, and Azerbaijani alphabets. On the 15th of January 2021, my dad will turn 60. Type Tiles JNL is based on a ‘completed’ version of ‘Alpha-Blox’ by American Type Founders, circa 1944. The capitals, lower case and numerals shown in the sample sheet put out by ATF depicted type made with five-high blocks comprised of modular units spaced two points apart. These units could be combined in varying ways to create custom type of varying heights and widths and was available for purchase in both linear (multi-line) and reverse (white on black) formats. This font, was created -- inspired from the original manuscript of the French revolutionary song “La Marseillaise”, becoming later the French national anthem, composed in one night (1792 April 25th) by the 32 year old French captain, Rouget de Lisle. It is a “Pro” font containing Western (including Celtic) and Northern European, Icelandic, Baltic, Eastern, Central European and Turkish diacritics.
