The name of this typeface comes from the surname of James (Jim) Bowie, American pioneer and inventor of the famous Bowie knife. It was just a matter of culling out the right collection of characters to build the foundations for the four flavors of Alfie. Because they share the same family roots, each design in the Alfie family can be paired and intermixed. The font comes in 4 variants that provide a wide stylistic range. Andes Neue is the most similar to the original Andes design. f-line is a special handwriting monoline font face, with one constant line from glyph to glyph and variable width. It was drawn for the designer’s thesis in 2010 and expanded until 2021 with a lot of open type features. It’s built up with three glyph sets to let the glyphs rotate automatically, and amongst other type features initial forms are available.

A typeface originally inspired by a wall lettering in a small chapel on Crete, Greece. Despite its experimental character it works nicely in a text environment. Crete is perfect for display use where a feminine and elegant touch is desired. The unusual serifs and terminals add to the graceful appearance in the Thin and provide a more robust feel in the Thick. Both weights are metrically interchangeable, so text will not reflow when mixed. The accompanying Italics have several different lettershapes and therefore have, in some cases, their own widths. However, they sit comfortably next to the uprights. The style names refer to the change in serif weight instead of increasing vertical stem widths.
