Ragnar can be called a typeface for compact typography. It is loosely related to the Saga typeface in many ways, even including its name. Tucked inside the November 5, 1927 issue of a German signpainters' trade paper was a single sheet headed Der Schilder und Schriftenmaler, which featured an alphabet called "Neue Fraktur".
