INTRODUCTION When I started the first Selfie back in 2014 I was aware that I was designing something innovative at some point, because at that time there were not too many, (if any) fonts which rescued so many calligraphy features being at the same time a monolinear sans. I took inspiration from the galerías’ neon signs of my home city, Buenos Aires, and incorporated the logic and ductus of the spencerian style. The result was a very versatile font with many ligatures, swashes and a friendly look. But… I wasn’t cognizant of how successful the font would become! Selfie is maybe the font of my library that I see the most when I finally go out, (type-designers tend to be their entire lives glued to a screen), when I travel, and also the font that I mostly get emails about, asking for little tweaks, new capitals, new swashes. Selfie was used by several renowned clients, became part of many ‘top fonts of the year’ lists and was published in many magazines and books about type-design. These recognitions were, at the same time, cuddles for me and my Selfie and functioned as a driving force in 2020 to start this project which I called Selfie Neue. THE FONT "Selfie for everything" Selfie Neue, because it’s totally new: All its glyphs were re-drawn, all the proportions changed for better, and the old and somehow naive forms of the first Selfie were redesigned. Selfie Neue is now a family of many members (you can choose between a Rounded or a Sharp look), from Thin to Black, and from Short to Tall (because I noticed the feel of the font changed notoriously when altering its proportions). It also includes swashy Caps, which will serve as a perfect match for the lowercase and some incredibly cute icons/dingbats (designed by the talented Melissa Cronenbold, see also Selfie Neue Rounded for more!) which, as you see in the posters, make the font even more attractive and easy to use. You'll find tons of alternates per glyph. It's impossible to get tired with Selfie! Like it happened with the old Selfie, Selfie Neue Sharp was thought for a really wide range of uses. Magazines, Book-covers, digital media, restaurants, logos, clothing, etc. Hey! The font is also a VF (Variable Font)! So you can have fun with its two axes: x-height and weight, in applications that support them. Let me take a New Sharp Selfie! TECHNICAL If you plan to print Selfie Neue VF (Rounded or Sharp), please remember to convert it to outlines first. The majority of the posters above have the "contextual" alternates activated, and this makes the capitals a little smaller. I'd recommend deactivating it if you plan to use Selfie for just one word. Use the font always with the "fi" feature activated so everything ligatures properly. Chiavettieri draws inspiration from Humanist types, marked by low contrast between thick and thin strokes and the angle of stress in the bowls of letters. On the other hand, generous x-height, clean angled serifs and sharp cuts in the ball terminals suggest a more contemporary look. All these characteristics make it a robust, well balanced, legible typeface ideally suited for book text, editorial and publishing, as well as web and screen text. Blanket is a friendly, baby-soft typeface with a gentle slant. With the warmth of an italic but less of the speed, it is designed primarily for use on child oriented material. The ‘schoolbook’ a and g are default, but the more adult double storey versions are available through stylistic sets / stylistic alternates. Blanket is child friendly without being childish. Typographically sophisticated, it features a wealth of figure styles, automatic fractions, ligatures, alternates, case sensitive forms and a small spattering of swashes. Although the intent was to make a typeface fit for children’s books, the finished product works well anywhere a casual (but not sloppy) look is desired.

Ten Mincho is a Japanese typeface design from Adobe Originals, designed by Ryoko Nishizuka and useful for a broad range of settings, such as advertising copy, book titles, and headings. As a traditional Mincho-style design the strokes are slightly heavy and rounded, and exhibit smaller counter spaces. Ten Mincho also features a full set of Latin glyphs, collectively known as Ten Oldstyle and designed by Robert Slimbach. This relatively feature-rich Latin subset includes OpenType features such as small caps and old-style figures. Finally, look for a small number of color emoji in an SVG table, some of which are accessible as alternates.

To design Mr Black, we used old ('70-'80) dry transfer lettering sheets that were used by my grandfather who was a military cartographer. We had only two almost used-up sheets. The letters didn't transfer so well but we liked the way they were damaged. All of the characters have a very high resolution so they can be used in a large scale. Mr Black doesn't have lowercases but has up to three alternate uppercase for each letter. Checkout Mr Tiger if your looking for lowercase letters with the same distortion effect. We designed it for our book for children, “Who eats Whom”

Isidora Soft is a new version of Isidora —a 2016 MyFonts Bestseller. Its rounded, soft terminals give it a friendly and expressive look, and its modern and contemporary style, small x-height and classic proportions make it an excellent choice for headlines, logotypes, branding, books, magazines, motion graphics, and use on web and Tv. Isidora Soft consists of two 7-weight versions: one regular and one alternative which is more expressive and playful compared to its counterpart. Both versions include matching italics, resulting in a total of 28 styles. Isidora Soft contains a set of 452 characters that support over 200 Latin-based languages.

The design of Zwoelf stems from a letter created by Oleg Pashchenko for the poetry book called “They Talk.” Modified in several ways, the lettering gained readability and a more neutral look. This typeface combines Modern and Gothic styles, ugliness and beauty, the horrifying and the funny. Typographers may highlight any of this. Zwoelf features elements that can be found in both Roman and Gothic styles, but has no real historical prototype. It creates coarse body copy that feels like blackletters. The type is well-suited for use with rough line graphics. Zwoelf is a good choice for short texts, headings, witchcraft potion recipes, madrigals, spells and treasure map naming.

Kuppa is a yummy display unicase with a lot of attitude. Two styles within the Kuppa family a like brothers — look alike and still completely different. Both brothers have 555 glyphs, including alternates, ligatures, fractions and even german capital eszett and excluding Cyrillic in Basic version. Kuppa Regular is clear, powerful and will suit for menus, coffee shop and restaurant use, for magazine handwritten heads and sub-lines and even for kids books. Kuppa Fat is on the dark side — it is bizarre and wild, sometimes even hardly legible. Sometimes you won't see letters, just encrypted symbols — perfect for music posters, vinyl shops, cd covers and hip stuff.

Memento is a 1993 design of the type artist Franco Luin, the creative mind behind a variety of types, for instance, Venus and Griffo Classico. Memento's high x-height allows it to be legible even in small point sizes. It is distinguished by its tiny triangular serifs, a characteristic reminiscent of the Dutch types of the 17th century. Memento is an extremely legible typeface with a classical touch. It is available in four different weights with corresponding italics and small caps. This range of weights along with its classic, neutral look makes it a versatile typeface which can be used in anything from books to corporate design to magazine typography.
