The Charta family of fonts draws its inspiration from the letter styles used in early manuscripts and printed books. Charta is also remarkably versatile: it’s equally at home in a traditional or modern context and can be used for a wide range of applications from an automobile badge to a newspaper masthead and from a fashion label to a candy bar wrapper.

Zipline is a geometric sans built from a folded line or ribbon. Contemporary and stylish, with a certain decorative flair. There are three variants that can can be freely mixed for effect - a solid version, a decorative lined version, and a half-solid version. Midnight Chalker is, well, a chalk(ish) font and it was (fro the greater part) created around the midnight hour. That’s usually when I get my inspiration. Midnight Chalker is a tall, eroded font - all caps, but the upper and lower case differ and can be mixed. Of course it comes with more diacritics than you can throw a chalkboard at.

Strangelove is inspired by the title sequence of Stanley Kubrick’s movie Dr. Strangelove. The original titles were designed by Pablo Ferro, who is one of the most acclaimed film title designers, especially famous for his hand-drawn lettering. P22 Albemarle is a smooth reworking of the popular rough textured Roanoke font. The texture change gives this style a much more elegant effect, yet retains its skilled capturing of historical handwriting. Albemarle Pro features at least one alternate for all Caps and many lower case characters. The Pro font also features a full CE character set and more with over 600 glyphs.

Allencon is a lovely font based on freehand calligraphy. It has a bold, decisive look, with various aspects of the characters regularized to give a consistent appearance in print while preserving the personality of the lettering. It includes variant versions of many of the characters, particularly elongated characters for the ends of words at the ends of lines - great for poetry.

This work is inspired by creatures that I have drawn for my six year old boy. The monsters can be found at chrismetcalfe.com. I wanted to take their hair/fur and translate the fun attitude to type. To be honest I think this font is used best as display type. However the fun attitude lends to many usages without structure.

Square "robocap" typeface containing some little bit of experimental letters such as "t" or "f". Designed by Dusan Jelesijevic who wanted to make a font that would look heavy as building construction printed on your shirts. Even if it looks strong and stable, it is surprisingly very readable at small sizes which make it perfect for titles, posters or logotypes.

Linem Up JNL is based on one of Alf R. Becker's alphabets for Signs of the Times magazine. With A-Z only and basic punctuation, it is best used in very limited text at larger point sizes. Thanks to Tod Swormstedt of ST Publications (and the curator of the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio) for providing the reference material.

I took Arquà’s curvy lines from some details in art nuveau posters from late 1800 / early ‘900, then I added to the mix a little bit of elegance with some weird contrast (look at the S). One hour in the hoven and a modern looking display font came out in 2 weights: Goodboy and the doppelganger Badboy perfect to mix up.

A colorful floral book that I found at a flea market inspired me to make the font Herbarium. What started as floral letter illustrations in 2009 has now developed into a writable font. My main intention was to make each letter like a little artwork so that they all could fit as a drop cap. Herbarium is also a good choice for headlines.

Counting four variations for each letter and two for the numbers, Felt Noisy delivers a cool organic feel with a strong and spontaneous ​​ attitude. Divina is a Latinized digitization of one of German calligraphy master Rudolph Koch's typefaces. The original typeface, Kurrent, was designed in 1927 and cut in 1935. Its shapes are a variant of the German script to be used as a model for writing in schools at the time. This is the first time Koch's rendition of this particular blackletter calligraphy was ever digitized.
