Vicentina has been created starting from gothic cursive calligraphy, widely used in Italy during XIV century. The ductus of Vicentina has been derived from the documents redacted by Master Domenico Dominici from Vicenza, while most of the inspiration comes from books preserved in the archives of Orvieto Cathedral (Archivi dell'Opera del Duomo di Orvieto). As a result, Vicentina takes form with an elegant, but fast and simplified ductus respect to gothic graphs, rich in ligatures and with over 400 OpenType glyphs, in perfect harmony with the rules of readability of a modern typeface.

“Feverish” was a font borne out of perceived need in the marketplace. Hallmark retired font designer and master letter designer Myron McVay first approached Bill LaFever to collaborate on a project to design a semiformal calligraphic script that could be set as text copy with a large variety of swash and alternative characters and small caps. Bill penned the initial forms and Myron did the digital conversions and initial technical work. After Myron passed away, Terry Lee, a protégé of Myron’s at Hallmark, also retired, took over and the project was completed. “Feverish” is a semi-formal italic which can be used in a wide variety of commercial and advertising applications. Typeface designer and Letraset type director Colin Brignall created the font Romic. The character of the strokes as well as the serif forms give the font its calligraphic look. This time I touched another classic manuscript for my font. The Lindisfarne Gospels is an illuminated manuscript probably produced around the years 715–720 in the monastery at Lindisfarne, off the coast of Northumberland. It’s the work of a monk named Eadfrith. He was a highly trained calligrapher, and he used insular majuscule script in the manuscript. Ciseaux was inspired and is dedicated to the art of paper cutting. Early paper cutting artists were often royalty, but it soon became a folk art practiced by commoners whose cutouts decorated their homes. By the seventeenth century it had spread throughout the world. The Japanese called it Mon-kiri, the German's Scherenschnitte and Turkey even boasted a guild devoted to the art form. In Poland the designs were traditionally symmetrical and often used layers of colors to form pictorial collages. When Russian invaders confiscated scissors, villagers were found to cut their intricate designs with sheep shears! The art form later developed into cutting out elaborate designs of nature scenes and people, celebrating special occasions and even decorating legal documents. Ciseaux letterforms mimic paper cutting art in its shapes with a rather loose and almost joyous rhythm. The overall effect is somewhat earthy and natural yet it has an element of sophistication that cannot be ignored. Just like paper cutting, Ciseaux can be used for special occasions like invitations, brochures, identities, restaurant menus, and if you dare, some awesome looking paper graffiti. This font is a collection of ornaments and drawings suitable for Halloween themed materials.
