For our modern/futuristic fonts collection we wanted something truly science fictional, so Dave Nalle designed the Alecto font, an original design with a futuristic look, but some echoes of the type designs and lettering of the Arts & Crafts period. It looks much more modern, but you can see echoes of some of our other fonts like Semiramis in the design. Alecto features multiple versions of many of the characters to make it ideal for designing logos and titles.

Some words from the designer... West coast artist Teri Kahan developed a "design font" of 68 pictographs capturing the sentiments of relationship, connection and synchronicity. Many of the characters were created with phrases in mind like, "handing you the world on a platter", "howling at the moon", and "message in a bottle". Others represent life experiences. The clean, simple illustration style originates from the look of hand-carved rubber stamps, and lends itself beautifully to logos and graphics.

Isabella was designed by Hermann Ihlenburg in 1892 for MacKellar, Smiths and Jordan, one of many type houses that were later amalgamated into American Type Founders. As testimony to its long-lived appeal, Isabella was one of the first PostScript® language typeface releases (in 1988) of Agfa Compugraphic. With its unmistakable 19th-century characteristics - swirls, loops, and surprising letter shapes - Isabella is a natural for display situations that demand high drama or, dare we say, melodrama.

Eggnog is a slightly heavy typeface that renders very well at even very small typesizes and looks sharp in large headlines. This typeface is egg-ish in shape and we've included a half-dozen eggs in case you're inspired to have some eggnog for breakfast! Briosh - a hand drawn script font. Beautiful and elegant but at the same time unique thanks to its ending letters. Another tip of the hat to master draftsman Samuel Welo. His famous Studio Handbook was hand-lettered throughout, and provided the inspirations for many of Nick's favorite fonts. This little number is based on the unnamed style Mr. Welo used for much of his paragraph text. Use it when you want to convey homespun warmth and a handmade feel. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode Latin 1252, Central European 1250 and Turkish 1254 character sets.

Manufactory JNL and its oblique counterpart were re-drawn from examples of a now-antique typeface used within many advertisements found throughout the pages of The American Stationer magazine, circa 1879. The term ‘manufactory’ was popular during this era; the word being a more archaic form of ‘factory’. There is a bit of Western flavor to this type design, as the spurred serifs and the top and bottom strokes are heavier than the vertical and mid-point stroke weights.

A set of over 50 ornaments, connecting borders, flourishes and decorative motifs originally designed by Frederic Goudy throughout his career. Many of these designs were used by Goudy at his Village Press and offered by his Village Foundry in the 1920s. The styles range from complex title page illustrations to simple linking borders, but all have the unique Goudy style. This set is completely different from the Goudy Ornaments found in the P22 Goudy Aries Set.

Southside Fizz is a cocktail (made with gin, lime, mint and soda). Southside Fizz font was based on a single word in a 1930’s advertisement and my Palembang font. I did not have that many glyphs to work with, so I made most of them up. Southside Fizz became a very elegant all caps Art Deco font, quite useful for wedding invitations, books and posters. It comes with a roaring amount of diacritics as well.

Spotted for sale online, a partial set of antique tin stencils from France had a distinctively handmade look about them. Many of the characters were inconsistently wider than others, some characters were missing and one was damaged. Despite the obvious flaws, the image of these stencils served as the model for a digital font revival once the characters took on a more uniform appearance. French Stencil Serif JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.
