Initially inspired by an untitled typeface from an old hand-lettering book, Berber has been extensively developed over two incarnations to function as a very strong and confident sans. The 2011 Berber revisions have enabled Berber to be used across longer settings as well as its more conventional use on larger applications such as signage. Berber was used as the text face for issue 46 of Eye, the graphic design journal. The typeface now features both king caps and small caps. Ritz Slab Serif JNL is a bold display face which shares a lot of similar design traits to Stymie and other similar metal type of the 1930s and 1940s, but in actuality was modeled from only four letters. On the sheet music for the 1937 song "Sweet Varsity Sue" [from the 20th Century Fox Film "Life Begins in College"], there is a picture of the Ritz Brothers - a popular comedy team from 1925 through the late 1960s. The hand lettered name "Ritz" became the basis for Ritz Slab Serif JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

My friends didn't use capitals when sending me text messages, e-mails and using all their digital toys. At the beginning, I was feeling ignored. But after time I thought, that... I can do something for them. And so, I've made Redaktor. Redaktor is a cute monospaced family of four fonts, which has only lowercase characters and large x-height. If you want to write an uppercase character, you can't do it. (OK, to be fair, there will be small underline, just to show you, what you have done...) You may find Redaktor useful for posters, titling, info-graphics or websites.

Prospera was designed without reference to existing roman faces. In its initial form, development was partially supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (Design Project Grant), as a design for use on 'low-res' digital output devices. Early releases had simplified detail in cross-bars and serifs, and hand-tuned bitmaps. As an original design, Prospera draws on principles of letterform developed during my studies of lettercarving (in Wales with Ieuan Rees) and Roman proportion. The design is idiosyncratic, perhaps more akin to Gill's Perpetua than to the monotonous corporate flavors so prevalent today.

Cottonwood is a group effort of the typeface artists K.B. Chansler, B. Lind and J. Redick and displays the unmistakable look of the Wild West. It is stylistically modelled on the typefaces used in advertisements and signage toward the end of the 19th century. Typical for these capital alphabets are the split serifs which emphasize the markedly decorative character. Cottonwood is a kind of homage to the Western typefaces (woodtypes) which became popular through their use on Wanted signs in Western films. There's something satisfying about tweaking to perfection a typeface based on the particular style of lettering applied to a particular kind of paper by a particular human hand. One day, in pursuit of this curious sense of satisfaction, I sat down with a porous pad of lined note paper and printed out the alphabet with a ballpoint pen. I found particularly interesting the bulbous ends of the strokes where the ink soaked in. I couldn't help myself: I drew out the rest of the character set, scanned, hand-traced, and -- as with all 3IP font designs -- manipulated every glyph to an obsessive degree. Named it Cedar Street, after a favorite address of mine. Full release has a single medium weight with a thorough character set.

ITC Korigan is a work of French designer Thierry Puyfoulhoux, an uncial typeface which he wanted to offer as an alternative to Victor Hammer's American Uncial, which remains for him the uncial character of reference." The roundness of an uncial gives it the look of pearls on a string, as Hammer said, and ITC Korigan is true to its heritage in this respect. Despite the roundness, however, the forms remain familiar and legible to the modern eye."

ITC Stylus is the work of American designer Dennis Pasternak, who based its forms on those of freehand architectural lettering from historical and contemporary sources. Pasternak points out that while the typeface emulates hand lettering, no pencil drawings or scanned art were used in its creation. The letters bounce slightly across the baseline, giving the typeface the look of true handwriting. ITC Stylus emanates warmth when used for extended text and a fresh quality in display sizes.

Treppenwitz (literally: ‘Staircase Wit’) is a German word describing a conversational remark that only occurs to someone after the opportunity to make it has passed. I love words like this: they can sum up a whole sentence or a complex train of thought. Treppenwitz font is hand brushed. It’s a little uneven, a little shaky, but will look good on product packaging and book covers. Comes with loads of diacritics and double letter ligatures as well.

For our modern/futuristic fonts collection we wanted something truly science fictional, so Dave Nalle designed the Alecto font, an original design with a futuristic look, but some echoes of the type designs and lettering of the Arts & Crafts period. It looks much more modern, but you can see echoes of some of our other fonts like Semiramis in the design. Alecto features multiple versions of many of the characters to make it ideal for designing logos and titles.

Mr Dum Dum was designed for our game – Ba Ba Dum. In Ba Ba Dum players can learn words in different languages, so we needed a typeface that can support not only all latin characters but also Cyrillic, Greek and two Japanese syllabaries – Hiragana and Katakana. Eventually we wanted to add Chinese support so we designed 1314 Simplified Chinese characters – just enough to cover all words available in Ba Ba Dum plus necessary logograms to translate the games UI.

I found a child's writing style that is funny, looks clean and natural. I tried a rough sketch of a font that resembled the writing of the child, then I modified it to become the "Kidszania" font.
