This font is the younger sister of HexBraille with which it may be combined to create new patterns. This also explains why their introductory text are similar. Introduction The purpose of this monospace font is to display braille in an original and "steganographic" way. The Kernig prefix means "Robust" in German, this is because of the crank shapes . The core of the glyph design is a flat hexagon which can be read as 3 rows of 2 dots (i.e. regular braille glyph grid). Even if within a glyph, braille dots ("square dots" indeed) are placed on the vertices of a flat hexagon, the difference with HexBraille is that edges connecting vertices are not straight lines but "crank shapes" instead. This can be summarized by saying that the whole glyph is a Hexcrank (a flat hexagon where vertice pairs are connected by a crank shape) NB: The initial design is illustrated by glyphs 'ç' (no dot) and 'û' (6 dots) as shown by poster 6. A. "Kernig Lattice" In KernigBraille, glyphs are connected to each other, thus for each Hexcrank glyph there are 6 connections: 2 on left/right and 4 on top/bottom. In the final design some cranks were removed for esthetical reason (i.e. leave empty space for allowing patterns diversity). In summary, a text using this font won't display a honeycomb but a lattice instead. NB: Please notice that in order to obtain the lattice without vertical gaps, you must set the interline to 0. The lattice is made from 3 kind of shapes: a.1. Hexcrank a.2. Square a.3. Irregular cross (mostly unclosed) The design favored squares over crosses. The whole slightly resembling a PCB. B. Afronaut PRO (New version of typeface published in 2019) was inspired by vernacular Latin & Arabic typography in St. Louis (on Senegal-Mauretania Border, Africa). Geometric forms working well and contrasting with smooth, round elements. After reading "Afronautics – from Zambia to the Moon" by Bartek Sabela (about Zambian conquest of space) a breif was set to create typeface that looks like mix between: vernacular Arabic script, futuristic typography and some special lettering that I found in Africa during my travels to Guinée, Bissau, Gambia, Senegal, Mauritania and West Sahara. Afronaut has seven weights, also many letters have 3 different forms. Afronaut PRO can work as regular version of my Yalla Typeface.

Linotype Salamander is a part of the Take Type Library, selected from the contestants of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. Designed by German artist Michael Struller, the font seems to be composed of strokes and curves jointed together to form characters. Yet Salamander also looks like a handwriting font, in part because of its slight lean to the right. The font contains four basic weights, from regular to demibold, and two particularly heavy double-weights. Linotype Salamander is a light and lively font, particularly good for short texts of point size 10 and up or, in its heavier weights, for headlines and displays.

The letters and numbers of a home movie titling kit from circa the 1950s or 1960s called the Magna Tech Titler Number 312 were die-cut from cardboard with a magnetic backing and were styled after Futura Bold. The user of this set composed the desired title or phrase onto a metalized board and the result was photographed with their 8 or 16mm camera. Because the dies of the characters were handmade, very slight variations in the shape and stroke width of the lettering would occasionally occur. These variations were incorporated into the design of the digital type face. Intermediate JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Trapper is so named because it exploits a typographic design mechanism known as ink traps purely for graphic effect. Büro Destruct’s «BDR mono» typeface has a long tradition in the font library of typedifferent. Initially designed by Lopetz as a single weight, monospaced Mac PostScript Type 1 font way back in 1999, it got a first update as a little family with light, regular and bold weights, plus an extended glyphs set in Opentype format during 2006. With this 2021 update the typeface received a second rounded family and a complete glyphs set with all needed characters used in the north, east, south and west of Europe. Stencil Package JNL has its design roots in the brand name hand-lettered on the paper sleeves for the short-lived Stencil-It line of lettering guides produced in 1955 as a direct competitor to Stenso Lettering Guides. Formed by Bernie Aronson [a relative of the Libauers who owned the Stenso Lettering Company and who once worked for them] along with a financial partner (noted artist) Sidney Levyne, the company was soon put out of existence by a court action. It re-emerged in 1956 as the E-Z Letter Stencil Company and existed until the 1990s. Stencil Package JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.
