Donatello is a classically proportioned design with subtly tapered strokes, inspired by the lettering on the fifteenth century cantoria by Luca della Robbia in the Museum of the Duomo, in Florence. The design, consisting of caps and small caps, also includes Donatello Alternates -- a compatible set of wider characters. It was designed by Paul Shaw and Garrett Boge in 1997. Donatello is part of the LetterPerfect Florentine Set.

Linotype Dot is part of the Take Type Library, featuring the winners of Linotype’s International Digital Type Design Contest. Designed by Lucy Davies, the figures are composed of a combination of white and black dots and the contrast makes the font look like points of light and darkness. The general impression of Dot lies somewhere between ornamental and technical. It combines well with sans serif and calligraphy fonts.

Edgar No. 9 is an original design by Alex Kaczun. Edgar No. 9 is a derivative work based on his Big Boy typeface series. This extremely heavy informal script was created in the early 1920s by Lucian Bernhard. Like so many of his designs, this typeface has its roots in his earlier poster work. Bernhard Brushscript invokes a rather warm, pleasant feeling despite a number of quirky characters. Originally created for the Bauer Foundry of Frankfurt, Germany, the face looks as though it’s been drawn with a brush and contains looping ascenders and descenders. Perfect for situations where a quaint and casual lettering effect is desired. The Bernhard Brushscript is also available in the OpenType Std format. Some new characters have been added to this OpenType version. Advanced features currently work in Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Creative Suite Illustrator, and Quark XPress 7. Check for OpenType advanced feature support in other applications as it gradually becomes available with upgrades.

Botanique is a hand-drawn typeface based on Schmalfette Bernhard Antiqua by Lucien Bernhard. The original face was released in 1912 by Flinsch Type Foundry, which was later acquired by Bauer. Schmalfette means ‘bold condensed’ in German and Botanique adds a charming roughness to these attributes, evoking an organic and somewhat retro mood. Its uppercase glyphs shine with adorned stylistic alternates and cool blooming swash versions for both initial and final forms, all cleverly programmed into OpenType font features. Botanique is a ​great pick for display purposes, branding, packaging, editorial design, poster work and many more. The original face counts more than one hundred years, but yet communicates quite well, you bet. Specially if loaded with some contemporary flair and smart features such as this one. Let it bloom.

Toshna is a classic garaldic typeface family offering three real optical type sizes. The Display weight for titles and headlines is kept very tall, thin and graceful. The Book weight for body text is drawn essentially wider, more round with robust, bold details. The punctuations and accents strictly serve the demands of body text. They are substantially bigger and more readable. Despite the fact that the width is running economically, the user notes the fonts ‘big face, that qualifies for eye friendly long texts.

I have seen my share of badly stuffed animals. Most of them via pictures, but also on vacations here and there. They all had this really bad handcraft vibe, but at the same time some really ordinary and kind of cute looks. I did my best to capture this look and feeling in my Badly Stuffed Animal font: clumsy letters made with a blobbly pen, with naive and irregular lines - and the conclusion is something super useful for a project that needs an organic handmade look!

The February 19, 1923 issue of The Film Daily contained an ad for Mack Sennett's new Ben Turpin comedy entitled "The Shriek of Araby". No doubt this was a spoof of the popular Rudolph Valentino film "The Sheik". The ad tries to emulate Mideastern or Arabic typography via a standard Western alphabet. It somewhat captures the flavor, but its free-form hand lettering comes off as more of a novelty-type style. This is now available digitally as Desert Sands JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

This brand new signature font is so versatile that you can use it for just about anything. A pleasant Art Nouveau hand lettered title is featured on the sheet music cover for "You Brought A New Kind of Love to Me". The song is from the 1930 Paramount film "The Big Pond" featuring Maurice Chevalier and Claudette Colbert. The original lettering was done with a round point pen nib, and showed a lot of small inconsistencies. For the digital version it has been "tightened up" a bit and is now available as Nouveau Fashion JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

The rainforest of Borneo which has a wealth of big trees and lush is the basis of inspiration of the Geegantic font.
