Whitehaven is the spirit of the Art Deco movement made into a very solid and blocky Sans Serif font. The name owes its inspiration to Whitehaven Mansions, a block of flats where that greatest of 1930s detectives, Hercule Poirot lived. Pontif is a typeface based on the inscriptional lettering work of Luca Horfei, the Vatican scribe who designed the major inscriptions for Pope Sixtus V's Baroque-makeover of Rome in the sixteenth century. Garrett Boge modeled the design on a Horfei manuscript and on-site research in Rome in 1996. Pontif is part of the LetterPerfect Baroque Set.

El Franco is a family designed by Ethan Dunham that represents what Roman lettering looked like in the 16th century. Derived from a typographic sample of Francisco Lucas, 1577, this font captures the feeling of rustic times. It comes in two versions regular and distressed. The distressed version has been weathered to appear old and worn.

This font was inspired by the Cancellaresca pattern (look at our 1491 Cancellaresca and 1610 Cancellaresca), in particular Spanish one, from Francisco Lucas, who was working in the late 1500s. It is a modern variation, including West European accented characters and a lot of initial and final alternates (not in the Mac TT version for technical reasons).

This typeface family includes Spanish Roman letters and “Griffo” style italics, both hand-drawn by Francisco Lucas in Madrid, 1577. The letters, sometimes slightly mismatched in size or off the baseline, capture the look and feel of sixteenth-century printing. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Melancholia is a subtle and beautiful sans-serif inspired by calligraphic letterforms. The name describes a feeling of deep sadness, an intense sensitivity to the world. The design of Melancholia is an attempt to introduce some of that wistfulness into the sans-serif form, a typographic classification that is often characterised by an austere functionality. Melancholia includes a set of true italics influenced by old-style serif italics, such as those found in Claude Garamond’s eponymous typeface, as well as a set of stylistic alternates and calligraphic-style swash characters.

Zart is a heavy yet delicately sensitive display typeface filled with character, a free interpretation of the classical French styles from the late eighteenth century, reimagined for modern use.
