Stabia is a multi-purpose typeface with large wedge-angular serifs. It is delicate and highly readable at very small sizes but reveals all its strength and personality when used at big sizes. The contrast of the sharped serifs provides a fresh and very contemporary look. The family has 5 weights, ranging from Light to Black (including italics) and is ideally suited for advertising and packaging, book text, editorial and publishing, logo and branding, small text as well as web and epub. According to the account written by his nephew, Pliny the Elder was at the other side of the bay in Misenum when the Mount Vesuvius eruption started. He travelled by galley ship across the bay, partly to observe the eruption more closely, and partly to rescue people from the coast near the volcano. Pliny died at Stabiae the following day, probably during the arrival of the sixth and largest pyroclastic surge of the eruption caused by the collapse of the eruption plume.

Instead, we readers have to constantly distinguish whether we are seeing an uppercase I or a lower case l — just take a look at the word “Illinois”... The ingoFont Analogue was developed for exactly this reason. The intent: To create a pretty much »ordinary«, even classical font with its most striking characteristic being the inclusion of the “crooked l.” As a model, I used the »mother of all sans serifs«, Akzidenz Grotesk from Berthold, with its beginnings going back to the 19th century. Analogue is so to say a new interpretation of Akzidenz Grotesk from ingoFonts. All characters — following the model — have been newly designed. And if you want to emphasize the shape of the hooked foot even more, you can also activate the alternate styles for d, h, m, n (Style Set 1). Conversely, the alternate a somewhat softens the “hooked” impression (Style Set 2). The slanted versions — it isn’t truly a real cursive font — are noticeably stronger with 13° than the italics in comparable fonts, and were given a round e with a mind of its own which distinguishes itself considerably compared to the upright characters in the overall appearance of the font. More modern and formal solutions in detail were chosen for some of the characters, for example the M was given lightly slanted sides; the a reflects the curves of the s; the “feet” of a, l and t match; the flared legs of K and R became a “foot”, too. General proportions were carried over almost completely with no changes from Akzidenz Grotesk as well as the slanted trimming on the open forms of a, c, e, s; in comparison, C, G and S were given straight endings. Analogue contains many ligatures, even discretional ligatures, plus proportional, old style as well as tabular figures. All in all, at first sight Analogue brings back memories of the charm of its well-known predecessor; and yet, many small differences give Analogue an unmistakable certain something...

You wrote on your school notebooks, didn't you. Of course, just about everyone did. And those that didn't are probably in therapy trying to overcome the repression and guilt. Balloon letters are fun, easy to draw and have a light-hearted presence. With little autonomy, what young person can resist the opportunity to make a public, personal statement on their notebook. Guess what! Adults do it too - with our cars, our houses, our toys, our accessories and so on. And how "grown-up" are we really? Anyway, my niece, Cori, made this nice, colorful, hand-drawn birthday card. It was so vibrant and fun - in warm circus colors - that I could not resist making it into a font. Use it for positive, fun stuff, stuff with a light touch - an invitation for an informal party perhaps, but probably not a formal dinner at the White House. This font is not comfortable in a bowtie. But don't be fooled. Casual as Cori is, you can set at least twelve major European languages with it, in addition to English: Albanian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish. Cori Valentine adds a decorative Valentine border to the upper case of Cori. By leaving out the bow in the upper center of the border we were able to fit the border around the accented caps. Similarly, we omitted the butterfly for the Ccedilla glyph. Blank versions of the regular border & the bowless border are provided at positions 135 & 137 in case you want to put a border around your signature or something like that. Just for reference, the letterforms for Cori Valentine are 75% the size as the regular Cori font. We would like to assure you that it is permissible to use Cori Valentine to create a romantic card, flyer or note during any month with less the 32 days.

Thalweg serif typeface is a project focused on the digitalization and development of the Thalweg font. The font was originally designed in 1993 by the Bulgarian artist Ivan Kyosev. In 2018 Ani Dimitrova began the revival of the Thalweg font and converted the drawings into a digital form. The existing set of characters required some necessary expansions such as the development of capital letters, alternative symbols and many other functions. Furthermore, some additional weights were developed which aimed to make the font more complete. Thalweg was completed in 2020 with 16 weights ranging from Thin to Black with extra drawn italics and small caps versions, each style containing more than 1100 glyphs. Two years ago I went on a camping holiday in England with my wife and (then two) small children. The first stop was a nature campsite near the village of Bodiam in East Sussex. My son wanted to see a real castle, so I figured Bodiam Castle was the 'realest' of them all! He loved it, as the castle had a moat, crenellated walls, a bunch of towers and a guy dressed up as a knight. Bodiam font is a rough didone-ish affair. The first sans serif types were made in London in the early 19th century. They were severely modern, all caps and bold. The Figgins foundry, inventor of the term sans serif, showed a ?ne example in its specimen of 1836. The extra bold weight of Figgins Sans is a close revival of the original, with the addition of a lower case which retains its partly geometric, partly grotesque quality. The family is rounded out with other weights and an italic, and extended into Cyrillic and Greek, all executed in what is assumed to be as authentic a manner as possible, given the hypothetical nature of the exercise. Together with Scotch Modern, comprises The Modern Suite of matched fonts.

The tale of Pumpkinseed began with a bit of hand-printing I noticed on the dinner menu at a local restaurant. I took a menu home for future reference. Several months later, some similar hand-lettering on another dinner menu caught my eye. I became a sort of connoisseur of hand-done menu lettering. After tweaking and adjusting a few of these menu-inspired (uppercase) characters, I placed them -- along with some other designs -- in an online Type in Progress survey. They won. So I finished the caps, drew out the lower case from scratch, created three weights and oblique styles. The result: Pumpkinseed, a full-featured casual hand-lettering face. ITC Drycut is the work of Vancouver-based designer Serge Pichii and gives a twist to the tradition of heavy, woodcut-like typefaces. The font includes all the realistic features of a true woodcut, sharp edges, white cut marks and black slivers. The slivers around the edges suggest traces left after awkward movements of a knife, which are often visible on old woodcuts...Folk artists often didn't care much about refining their carvings and the slivers would have been left as long as the letters remained readable." RensGazet is a decorative blackletter typeface with elaborate upper-case letters and condensed lower-case characters. It was inspired by the masthead of a short-lived weekly newspaper, The Rensselaer Gazette, which was published from 1857 until 1860. I could not find any existing digitized fonts that replicated this old typeface, so I decided to create an interpretation of it. I had samples of few letters in large point sizes and a number of others at a small point size, though these were blurry and not sharply defined. As a result, this typeface is undoubtedly considerably different from the original. Also, my spacing is much tighter than that in the source samples.

Payload began as an early concept for Loaded magazine, and here is developed into a clean outline and rough splattery spraycan version. In this font, the upper and lower case characters are subtly different enabling a more realistic appearance to be achieved by ßipping between cases whenever characters occur together in pairs. This font was inspired by the paint brushed letters in use in the 60 - 70s for protest slogans tagged on the cities walls. In those days, we didn't commonly use aerosols like today, so we used paint brushes, with paint or tar cans, drew the letters, and ran away quickly ! Capitals and lower case have the same size, and a lot of alternates characters or ligatures allows the user to vary each letter (until tree alternates for single letters) in each word of a text . Likewise, the words may be easily underscored or intersected by a few stains looking like paint spots, substituted to the following standards characters: [greater], [less], [dagger], [backslash], [bullet], and [underscore].

It is not only coarse but extremly black, and it is quite right to name it Black Letter in English. Ernst Schneidler, the designer, created the smallest possible counters. Still, this very coarse black letter is sensitive in detail and drawn with a high level of aesthetics. By the way, it was said in Schneidler's design class in Stuttgart that his number one student Walter Brudi had cut some of the characters with �silhoutte scissors� from black paper. Goth icon and Saturday Night Live voice-over talent, Nicole Blackman grew up surrounded by design; her dad and her sister are architects, her mom is a retired fashion designer and her grandfather invented clip art. “No lie, Volk Clip Art in NJ,” she says. “Herb Lubalin designed his logo!” Sharing her grandfather’s fondness for fonts, Ms. Blackman created this alphabet. Her creativity sparked this lanky lettering’s theatrical nature in all caps and its supple beauty in upper and lower cases. Final fontification and adjustments were done by Chank Diesel. At home we love bananas: the kids take them to school for ‘snack time’, they’re healthy and they look pretty as well! Republica Banana is a pun on the term Banana Republic, which was coined by American author O. Henry in 1901. In economics, a Banana Republic is a country that is run as a private commercial enterprise for the exclusive profit of the ruling class. Of course I can point out a few countries that fit this description, but let’s not get into that. Republica Banana is a very nice, hand painted brush font. It comes with double letter ligatures for the lower case and a lot of diacritics for you to play with.

I live in a small hamlet near the Rhine river. It is a sleepy little town and it doesn’t have any facilities. For groceries I need to go to the next town. The only road leading to that town has been closed for half a year, because of ‘maintenance’, so doing groceries got a lot trickier. The fastest way to travel is through yet another hamlet in the forest, on a very narrow road with extremely bumpy shoulders. Yes, you’ve guessed it: it is a Bumpy Ride. Bumpy Ride was made using a so called Brush Pen. It comes with all the accents and a sweet set of alternates for the lower case letters.

This Font is born basing itself on several standard typographic models. Inspired by our calligraphic drawings, the idea was to synthesize these many shapes into a unique font that can be used commonly. The slab base has been gradually humanized. The serifs have been carved, refined, rounded off, in order to galvanize the font and ease the task of reading in lower case. The angle of attack of the round letters is an echo of the 15 Century typographic heritage. It was important for us to create an expressive and humanized font, which could also be used for edition. The purpose was to confront the Ancient typographic canon of beauty with some funny and fancyful elements.
