This family was inspired from a lot of 1848-1850 French engraved documents reproducing handwritten texts talking about the Paris' insurrection days in June 1848 (described by Victor Hugo in Les misérables) . It seems that all were first written using quill pens, as the strokes are too much heavy and bold for metal pens and even though the engraver work is very fine. We have added only a few characters, most of them were present in the originals. The TTF and OTF versions are enriched with more than 50 ligatures or alternate characters.

After my previous typefaces inspired by the flavour of local typography (Massimo, Picadilly & Zigfrid), I'd like to present new one, called CUKIER. Twentieth Century was Lanston Monotypes answer to Futura. In fact Saul Hess's redrawing of Futura is so close that this new digital revival includes alternates of the long lost original letterforms originally designed by Paul Renner for Futura, but were left out of the released version that has become so popular. 20th Century is a modern sans serif with apparent geometry yet still a certain warmth in its design. The OpenType version of LTC Twentieth Century incorporates the alternate Renner glyphs with two sets of alternate lowercase characters. The font also includes oldstyle numerals and a full Western and Central European character set.

ITC Ironwork is the work of Serge Pichii, who was inspired by a piece of decorative lettering done by Jan Tschichold in the early 1920s. Tschichold had interlocked a series of rough sans serif letters and embellished them with scattered decorative elements. The original was of only capital letters, touching and overlapping like an ironwork gate made of letters. Pichii completed the typeface with lowercase forms and smoothed the edges. The scrolls of the capitals were extended to the lowercase and Pichii based them on iron scrollwork he found in Vienna and Prague. A lot of attention was paid to the elements of the typeface in order to 'smooth out' and balance proportional relations between the elements," says Pichii. ITC Ironwork is great for signage and display but also works well in short texts."

So this is my tribute to Piggy who got killed by that falling plastic rock in the movie. Fer is a sans-serif font for body text, not lacking in its own distinctive voice. The aftertaste of reading the text set in Fer is like reading the letters on old rusty plates somewhere in Southern Europe, hence the name (Fer means iron in French). Being a modern system that includes a variable font with weight and optical size axes, Fer combines the features of geometriс sans serifs and old sans serifs with closed apertures. The typeface contains three sets of styles: for captions, text and headings, — with the weight ranging from regular to black. Fer was created with the idea to unite nations. The range of subtle differences in the many different sized lettering stencils of the 1940s and 1950s allows for a wonderful library of authentic-looking stencil fonts. Storage JNL is another Roman (serif) type design by Jeff Levine and modeled from a 1950s stencil set.

Durham Latin brings the Latin style from the Industrial Revolution to the modern era. These letterforms could be seen painted on a road sign in France, engraved in a sign over a tavern door in London, or seen on a playbill in America. The rich and varied history of these forms inspired me to capture that personality, and interpret it in a way that fits the wide range of needs of modern designers. Condensed forms and strong serifs imbue Durham Latin with a presence that can’t be ignored yet doesn’t overwhelm. It shines as a powerful display font, and becomes affable when used at smaller sizes for subheadings. Durham thrives in spartan and ornate environments alike. Durham Latin features Outline and Fill variants that allow for more creative display elements. The lowercase are 80% height small caps. Scootchy is a high contrast, narrow typeface destined for use in both large and small point sizes. Blending an industrial and humanist approach, this typeface includes four weights ranging from a slender, regular style to a dark and contrasted Black weight. The typewriter font Olympia was developed by Hell Design Studio and is available in one weight. A typical characteristic of a typewriter face is that it is monospaced, meaning all characters take up the same amount of space, whether a relatively wide m or a relatively narrow i. Typewriters have all but disappeared from the workplace and such faces have lost their original, practical use, but their style and effect has kept them alive and well, especially in advertisements.

Beckinslade is a lovely elaborate blackletter face, released just in time for Christmas, but useable at any time of the year. It is in the best traditions of Victorian Gothic revival, drawing inspiration from a range of sources and marrying them into one homogenous whole. The emphasis is on aesthetics rather than historical accuracy. Great fun though for anywhere ‘ye olde’ look is desired.

Obvia, a geohumanist type for all media. Obvia appeared as a result of direct observation on typefaces classified as geometric and the plan to explore for the first time width axes - to be published soon - expanding its usability. The idea behind Obvia’s design was to create a distancing from geometrically pure shapes, in this case, square shapes. Then some details were added, such as subtle inktraps, concave endings of the stems and carefully drawn alternate characters, giving a ‘geohumanist’ tone to the font. This first family of Obvia has 9 weights ranging from Thin to Black with their respective italics, delivering a strong typographic identity, from the paper to the pixel.

The Whimsies series goes further in our fixation with invented little people: the three dingbats of this series contain mostly imaginary situations, drawn first with ink on paper. All but a tiny fraction of the illustrations (a total of 114) have been drawn from one's imagination, with no previous models. The themes depicted here are varied and often humorous, though the humour is on the darker side, you are warned. The themes have a definite retro - victorian feel, with top hats, moustaches, long coats, walking canes and the like. Together with their close relatives, our Illustries, Bizarries, Ombres, Absurdies and Genteta dingbats (we give this bizarre collective the common name of Whimbats) you can use the Whimsies in an endless variety of projects, ranging from small spot illustration to whole pages, page spreads or posters applications. You can use them as they come in the digital font, or customize them easily in your favourite graphics program. A touch of texture or color will give them a completely new look. The vectorial nature of digital fonts means you can enlarge them to any size, with no loss of crispness in their outlines.
