Originally made for the Observer newspaper, in London, this version of Plantin is more condensed than the standard typeface. This condensing is most noticeable in the capitals and the bold fonts. Syntax was designed by Swiss typographer Hans Eduard Meier, and issued in 1968 by the D. Stempel AG type foundry as their last hot metal type family. Meier used an unusual rationale in the design of this sans serif typeface; it has the shapes of humanist letters or oldstyle types (such as Sabon), but with a modified monoline treatment. The original drawings were done in 1954; first by writing the letters with a brush, then redrawing their essential linear forms, and finally adding balanced amounts of weight to the skeletons to produce optically monoline letterforms. Meier wanted to subtly express the rhythmical dynamism of written letters and at the same time produce a legible sans serif typeface. This theme was supported by using a very slight slope in the roman, tall ascenders, terminals at right angles to stroke direction, caps with classical proportions, and the humanist style a and g. The original foundry metal type was digitized in 1989 to make this family of four romans and one italic. Meier completely reworked Syntax in 2000, completing an expanded and improved font family that is available exclusively from Linotype GmbH as Linotype Syntax. In 2009 the typeface family was renamed into a more logical naming of "Syntax Next" to fit better in the Platinum Collection naming." Andrade is a new typeface designed by Dino dos Santos in 2005. This typeface was inspired in the typographic work of Manoel de Andrade de Figueiredo (b.1670-d.1735), Nova Escola para Aprender a Ler, Escrever e Contar, printed in 1722 at Offcina de Bernardo da Costa de Carvalho. This is one of the most important books, and almost forgotten, about Portuguese calligraphy and typography, and the work of Andrade de Figueiredo is among the most amazing examples of type design of the Eighteenth Century. His work inspired Ventura da Silva, a Portuguese typographer, who in 1803 published a book named Regras Methodicas, where he redesigns some of Figueiredo's type specimens. But Ventura's purpose was to create a more elegant and readable typeface than Didot and Bodoni. This kind of typeface used to be called leitura and is a transition between the baroque and modern typography. Andrade is a brilliant text typeface and is available in Regular, Italic, Bold, Bold Italic, Ligatures, Ligatures Italic, Swashes and Ornaments. Andrade is my tribute to Portuguese typography and to the work of Manoel de Andrade de Figueiredo in particular.

In the spirit of the old days, before water sparkled and before typefaces were known as fonts, Chank is proud to introduce Chippewa Falls the font. This font comes with fancy swirly uppercase letters and stout small caps for lowercase, as well as a heart-warming story. Chank rescued this former custom font from an abandoned design proposal. In addition, the 26th Street corridor (also known as El Dorado Avenue) was taken as the main reference because it brings together the work of many important exponents in this type of art; at least locally and nationally. Some icons are characterized by have a similar appearance with the Stencil technique or by have a loose stroke with high contrast. This font can be used in projects and works related to street art.

Eventyr is danish and means fairytale. You may know the name of the famous danish author, HC Andersen, who was well known for his fairytales. Actually I finished this font while listening to one of his fairytales, and that inspired me to call this font Eventyr. Most fairytales include the number 3 (3 choices, 3 wishes ... etc) but this font has the number 4 - because you have 4 slightly different versions of each letter to choose from. The Wild Bunch, also known as the Doolin–Dalton Gang, was a gang of outlaws that terrorized Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma Territory during the 1890s. They robbed banks, killed lawmen and held up trains. Of course its members were hunted down and 'wanted' posters, with that typical 'Wild West' font, appeared all over. Wild Bunch is a 'wanted poster' type font. It is an all caps font, but upper and lower case differ slightly. A set of alternate, non-eroded, glyphs for the lower case (including alternate numbers) completes this font.

Have you ever searched for a font that looked like it was really someone's handwriting, only to find that it was too feminine or too hard to read? I used to want a font like that, too, until I discovered that a font like that had been residing in my attic, in letters to me from my late grandfather. Not only was I thrilled to have a font like this at hand, but also one that would be a memory of my grandfather every time I used it. He was a hard-working man, raising a family during the Depression, yet was still fun-loving, kind, and generous. We called him Grandhappy. As a wedding present, I received from him rolling pins and a cutting board made of 8 different kinds of wood that he pieced together. In this font, the bullet is a rolling pin in honor of that! Other than the fact that this is a font from the hand of one greatly loved, my favorite thing is that although a True Type Font, it has some features of an Open Type font. There are many alternative letter choices available through the use of little-used keys on the keyboard and alt codes. This font was chosen to portray Jay Gatsby's handwriting in The Great Gatsby (2013).

Zapf Chancery font is a work of German designer Hermann Zapf. It was named after a typeface used in Anglo-Saxon lands during the Renaissance as well as inspired by such scripts. This font makes it possible to give printed items an individual character. The handwriting of the designer can be seen in the forms of this classic, elegant font.

ITC Esprit is the work of designer Jovica Veljović and blends the classic proportions of a serif typeface with the grace and charm of calligraphy. Highly legible even in small point sizes, the font can also be used as an impressive display face for use with sans serif text. In 2010 Veljovic revised this family and released this as ITC New Esprit.

The lettering for Stencil Box JNL was found on the packaging of a children's toy stencil set circa the 1940s. Popular for years, Pencil Stencils were a series of "connect the line" stencils where a series of dashed lines were traced from the cutouts and the lines connected to complete pictures of animals or other subjects. Although the packaging itself was often updated to reflect the current times during the life of the product, it was this hand-lettered example of stencil-meets-Art Deco from the 40s that proved worthy of saving as a digital typeface.

In short, our goal with this font was to create a new concept that responds to the demands of today’s times. This font offers weight variations from W0 to W9 and is extremely versatile. This makes it well-suited to all visual expression media including paper, metallic textures, resins, cloth, television, movies, broadcasting, websites, and electronic displays. One of the design’s strongpoints is that it elides serif on the right side of each stroke, thus delivering more spacious counters and a comfortable appearance. Thanks to this, the typeface not only delivers a contemporary, lively impression same as Latin sans serif typefaces, but also heightens the natural continuity and readability of text whether it is set vertically or horizontally. The Roundup family was inspired by fonts from the late 19th century, though it is not based on any one of them. Roundup-Caps was the first of the group to be constructed. It has two sets of upper-case letters that have minor differences. It has reverse contrast, that is, the verticals are thinner than the horizontals. Unlike most of the "Old-West" fonts with reverse contrast, the serifs are not square but have an odd, rounded shape. Roundup-Regular replaced the second set of caps with lower-case letters. A bold style strengthens the vertical elements so that it no longer has reverse contrast. Both the regular and bold styles have matching oblique styles. Finally, there is a hollow version with a shadow to the lower right. This shadowed style has had its inside taken out, creating RoundUp-ShadowInside. The spacing is the same as RoundUpShadowed so it can be layered over RoundUpShadowed to easily create two-colored lettering.

Another tip of the hat to the halcyon days of woodtype, this cap-small cap typeface takes its name from the bustling Mexican metropolis just across the Rio Grande from Brownsville, Texas. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

The unusually-shaped hand lettering of Penny Wise JNL was modeled from the cover of the 1936 sheet music for "You Dropped Me Like a Red Hot Penny", and is available in both regular and oblique versions. Although it was drawn during the Art Deco period, this type of lettering design style was revived during the Hippie movement of the 1960s and 1970s.

The first in a series of typefaces based on the work of legendary lettering artist Alf Becker, whose works appeared in Signs of the Times magazine for almost thirty years. Originally titled "Extreme Thin Gothic", this was Becker’s 185th design for the magazine. Both versions of the font include the 1252 Latin and 1250 CE character sets (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

Commodore JNL and Commodore Oblique JNL are based somewhat on the Clarendon family of typefaces that were popular in the 1800s and used on many of the broadsides and notices printed with wood type. The extra-wide design of this font limits the amount of text that a headline can handle effectively, but when applied sparingly it commands attention and sells the message.

Jazz Gothic is a digitization and expansion of an early 1970s film type from Franklin Photolettering called Pinto Flare. This type became an instant titling classic with jazz and soul album designers; then it caught on wildly with film and television designers. Blue Note and Motown would not have been the same without this face. Jazz Gothic is a simple geometric idea, quite likely originally inspired by the heavier display weights of Futura. A stylish retro script where I have completely redone the spacing to make the text look more even. All of the diacritics have been redone, too - and the character set expanded in our usual fashion. So now this little gem from Nick Curtis is ready for the big time! Kometa Sans is a contemporary grotesk with a certain personality. She has a steady geometric skeleton, but its appearance is rather humanistic. The precise details of the artwork, the carefully drawn true italics, the six types of numerals, the variety of alternates, the broad range of open-type features and the extensive glyph set can meet most of the contemporary typographer’s demands for a neutral, but not boring type family for both long text and display use. Among the distinctive qualities of Kometa are also the forms of ligatures (both default and discretionary). This face was recommended to me by Mark Solsburg, president of FontHaus. At first I was a bit reluctant to revive it, if for no other reason than Frederic Goudy’s admission that he created this design “in a moment of typographic weakness.” However, I put the sample that Mark sent me up on my bulletin board, and over a period of time, it grew on me. It finally got to the point that I had to recreate the face, and from the response that I’ve gotten, I’m glad I did! Uppercase only with numerals and punctuation.
