Buddy is the new companion sans for Contenu, the book font family designed for my book on font design design. Originally, I called it Compagnon, but that seemed to pompous. Then I called it Aide, but that was too formal and dry. It's a loose, free, easy to read sans, so when my wife suggested Buddy, it clicked. This is the 4-font Buddy family of Regular, Italic, Bold, & Bold Italic. I made a new, more limited feature set for these fonts due to their designed usage, but there are still small caps, small cap figures, oldstyle figures, numerators, and denominators. The bold is closer to a black, and the italics are only slightly slanted obliques. If you need a strong black in caps, use the small caps of the bold.

Like a figment of the imagination, this very readable font wafts across the page, leading the reader into a world of enchantment. Some time ago, I found myself in a clinic with my wife: at the time she was 20 weeks pregnant and had to do an ultrasound. To pass the time, I leafed through some (ladies') magazines which were lying around. Most of them tackled big issues like which shoes to wear and what type of foundation to plaster on, but one glossy featured a photo shoot. The photographer had found an old building with a beautiful art deco tile mural and had placed his skinny model in front of it. Fortunately for me, the mural featured a lot of text in a beautiful frilly style. I re-created the font I saw and it became "Jubileum" - which just means Jubilee in Dutch.

Cubicoola is a playful, friendly and distinctive all-caps typeface inspired by hand-drawn posters. Carnac, a minimalistic monoline face follows the same linear structure as its earlier released, rounded counterpart Carnas. Carnac, however, appears crisp and fresh because of its squared edges and angular contours. It is a clean, contemporary face with a wide range of styles from Thin to Black. The term "transcribed" takes on many definitions. In sheet music (the source of this type face design) it means to set down onto paper. In the formative days of radio, and until the advent of the tape recorder, radio stations depended on 16 inch wide recordable discs known as transcriptions. These discs were generally aluminum base with a soft lacquer coating that was cut with a heated stylus. This was the only way a program could be recorded and preserved for later broadcast or copied for syndication. Transcribed JNL is a hand lettered sans in the chamfer style of block lettering, based on vintage sheet music displaying the name and address for Zenith Music Publications.

Janek is a semi-serif typeface inspired by old Polish signage. Rather then mimic specific style, it synthesises various inspirations. It is named after an Author of a classic Polish manual, that kickstarted this project, „Techniques of Lettering“ by Jan Wojeński. Large character set and style selection allows for richness of expression. Pointy upright and slightly decorative italic bring unique blend of aesthetics. It works well in rich text and as a striking display. Janek consists of seven italic and seven upright styles ranging from Light, to Black. With extensive language support and wide selection of features, it is suited for range of latin use cases. Janek is a contemporary throwback to the past.

Bapalopa is inspired by classic graffiti "blockbuster" letter forms. These letters are made to look as big and as wide as possible. Bapalopa's linework is kept very loose & relaxed, mostly smooth with some distressed edges. Viewed up-close, there is lots of texture from the individual pen strokes which gives Bapalopa it's cool freehand drawn look. Use "Bapalopa" and "Bapalopa Pa" together to create eye catching designs. To make it extra fun, a handful of the largely useless alternates, (like that dumb "currency" symbol) were replaced with big blocky hearts, stars, and arrows. Check it out!
