Sortie Super is a take on one of the kings of display lettering - Caslon's high-contrast, reversed stress 'Italian' style. It looks great at big sizes and in short flurries... and shouldn't be used in confined spaces.  When compared with the original face, the weight and contrast of Sortie Super has been exaggerated. To add gravity to the letters I've increased their width overall and reduced the spacing to a hair-line fracture for added visual impact. Characters like 'S', 'E','O' and 'Z' are relatively close to their historical precedents - however the terminals on the 'C-G-S-З-Є', which have been drawn so to be more consistent. Other aspects, such as the leg of the 'R' and 'Я', the apex of the 'A' and the spur of the 'G' are revised and simplified, to help spacing and optical weight across the alphabet. Also, to reduce visual noise terminals in characters like 'C', 'J' and 'R'' are horizontally aligned. Meanwhile, the central horizontal strokes in the 'B', 'P' and 'R' etc are reduced to a hairline, so as to create a more simplified system of thick-to-thin.  The temptation when drawing this kind of esoteric display alphabet is to start to rely on modular components. Which, while copy-paste-repeat is a sure-fire way to make the face more visually consistent, it's a lazy method that risks allowing the font become soulless and mechanical. An early experiment I made was making a monospaced version, which was useful in headlines, but it lost that loving feeling. So, by maintaining a handful of flourishes – the tail of the '?', the inky drop of the '!', the bulbous gloop of arms of the 'Ж' and 'К', the swirling legs in the 'R', 'Я' and 'Л', the big-bowling weight of the 'J' and 'U' – plus a few in-built inconsistencies and a bit of its own silliness, Sortie Super retains some of the organic warmth of its ancestor. Conversely, the counters, apertures and negative space are largely rigidly geometric, which helps give the revival font a bit of a modern touch. Sortie Super is an uppercase-only display font that comes with Western, Central and East European Latin, extended Cyrillic, Pinyin, as well as a set of hairline graphic features and symbols.

Evanston Alehouse is the first font in a larger collection of typefaces inspired by years leading up to the American prohibition. For the past two years I was living in Evanston, IL, a suburb of Chicago. After learning it was one of the birthplaces of the prohibition movement, I set out to learn more about it, and decided to develop a type collection that captures the dynamic era in our nation’s history. In the century that prefaced the ratification of the 18th amendment, saloons, taverns and alehouses boomed as the American working class enjoyed beer and discovered whiskey and gin. At the same time, the Temperance League was forming and gaining strength. By the turn of the century, these temperance societies were common in the culture of the country, with individual towns and states already on the move to abolish alcohol consumption. However, it was undeniable that by this time in history, America loved to drink. This font is inspired by the signage seen outside such drinking establishments. Back to the modern era, Evanston Alehouse is a 25 font family that includes 3 weights, 4 widths and 3 heights. It has special features that add depth to the font, with discretionary ligatures and stylistic alternatives. I present two pipelines to you; one naked and one dressed. This typeface is very suitable for graphic, logo and poster design. It is quadratic shaped with round curves. It is modern and classic at the same time. It could be appealing for young, technical, digital, inventive and urban (sub) culture (at any age).

The initial idea for the Oops font, was to create graphemes, and by using them it could imitate a mark of a spilled liquid-stain. In an attempt to make the most convincing effect, those graphemes were written on glass. The final appearance of the graphemes, mostly remain in their basic form, and have the characteristic of a liquid, like fluidity in motion. This manuscript is expressive, but that does not affect the readability of the letters. The generated font was created by using Photoshop, Illustrator and a little bit of interventions in Font Lab. Font Oops is updated and edited version of an old version of the Art decor font, which had just basic letters. Today, Oops font contains Latin and Cyrillic letters, and it can be ideal for use in subjects like a paintball, art, expression, ink, water...

Erdogan Karayel, a master in graphic arts and a cartoon artist, has long dreamed of transforming characters made up of his own handwriting into fonts. This dream has come true with the technical support of Karayel's school friend Sabahattin Kayış, a graduate of the Istanbul School of Applied Fine Arts (Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts). The biggest problem of handwritten fonts in the font world is the difficulty of reading in long texts due to their curved and flexible letters that create spacing problems when used side by side. The "Karayel Calligraphy", on the contrary, is created as a solution to this problem. It's a font that is sufficiently fluid, visually satisfying and easy to read. In particular, a lot of effort is made to ensure the utmost harmony between the character's spaces. The “Karayel Calligraphy” font is now available for download.

CA Cula is standing in the tradition of cool tempered sans serif typefaces like DIN. But at a closer look it reveals a tendency towards rounder reading-friendly forms. The denaturalized ink traps give CA Cula a very special and individual look in display sizes, whereas in smaller sizes the positive aspects of huge ink traps show effect. The text looks clean and bright without black dots in the typographic image. This makes CA Cula suitable even for longer text, while the bold weight makes pretty cool headlines. At first glance, Burgstaedt Antiqua looks like an old typewriter face, or rather like a typeface from a typewriter that has gone hopelessly wrong! Only after your second glance will you see this font for what it really is - a thoroughly new text face. Several features of Burgstaedt Antiqua, and its companion italic face, are worth special attention: First, the terminal styles of the letters vary throughout the alphabet. This gives text set in Burgstaedt Antiqua a slightly jittery feeling. A second interesting feature is the lowercase q", which takes the form of a shrunken-down uppercase "Q". After several months discovering and developing the traits and personalities well balanced typefaces such like Frutiger and the other identical typefaces, Catesque was born as the new typefaces. The vocal flourish yet harmonious shapes not purely geometrically, it has imperfect rounded characters such as “O” “C” and “G”. Catesque can make some distinctness for large scale design as well as small text. The traits versatilities usable for many design applications, it’s comes with five weights from light to black plus mathcing italics. Gothiks Round Compressed is the rounded version of Gothiks Compressed. It is a 6-weight display sans-serif influenced by Texturas. The rhythm and verticality of Texturas can be easily identified on the letters with diagonal strokes like A N M K k V v W w X x Y y Z z: here they are all vertical. This kind of morphology was chosen because it accepts condensation in a very natural way, giving to this sans-serif a very unique personality. It has an extensive character set—with extensive language support—and many OpenType features like fractions, small capitals and different figure sets. Default figures align with lowercase. The typeface’s name refers to the plural of the word Gothic, which in turn can refer to both sans-serifs or Blackletter, depending on geographic location. Use it BIG!

Dear Dolores has had its name from the latin word dolorem, meaning sorrow or grief. When I started working on this display font I found myself trying it out using the latin requiem texts. The capitals somehow sat well with the monumental and solemn words of mourning. The broken hairlines suggested stone cuttings where the fine details had been worn down and obliterated over time and it felt at home in a churchyard or in a monument park. Adding lowercase gave the font a more personal and friendly appearance and opened up new possibilities for use. The name itself is a fictional message to someone long missed or perhaps lost too soon. Dear Dolores comes in a cut and an uncut version where the fine details are left intact. Both are excellent for headlines or memorable quotes.
