Kettering 205 is a geometric slab-serif with Art Deco influences, such as lowered crossbars on many characters, and a crossed W. It includes old style non-aligning (lower case) numbers, both proportional and tabular as well as accented characters for Central European languages. It’s a highly individual looking font, but retains good legibility coupled with striking looks as a display font. The Kettering 205 family comprises of six weights and is closely related to Kettering 105, its less Deco flavoured cousin.

This typeface was drawn to create short headlines (quickly) for one of my projects (a set of illustrations featuring The Evil Rat, imagined character). Each character (here I mean "glyph") has it's own personality, mostly evil one (jokingly) — that is why the font is called "The Monsters". The font was drawn on paper, then scanned and traced. It has both Latin and Cyrillic sets, since it was used with both. Monsters are good for short notes of comic or ironic style.

K-Type’s ‘Banks & Miles’ fonts are inspired by the geometric monoline lettering created for the British Post Office in 1970 by London design company Banks & Miles, a project initiated and supervised by partner John Miles, and which included ‘Double Line’ and ‘Single Line’ alphabets. The new digital typeface is a reworking and extension of both alphabets. Banks & Miles Double Line is provided in three weights – Light, Regular and Dark – variations achieved by adjusting the width of the inline. Banks & Miles Single Line develops the less used companion sans into a three weight family – Regular, Medium and Bold – each with an optically corrected oblique. Although the ‘Banks & Miles Double Line’ and ‘Banks & Miles Single Line’ fonts are based on the original Post Office letterforms, glyphs have been drawn from scratch and include numerous adjustments and impertinent alterations, such as narrowing the overly wide Z and shortening the leg of the K. Several disparities exist between the Post Office Double and Single Line styles, and K-Type has attempted to secure greater consistency between the two. For instance, a wide apex on the Double Line’s lowercase w is made pointed to match the uppercase W and the Single Line’s W/w. Also, the gently sloping hook of Single Line’s lowercase j is adopted for both families. The original Single Line’s R and k, which were incongruously simplified, are drawn in their more remarkable Double Line forms, and whilst the new Single Line fonts are modestly condensed where appropriate, rounded letters retain the essentially circular form of the Double Line. Many characters that were not part of the original project, such as @, ß, #, and currency symbols, have been designed afresh, and a full set of Latin Extended-A characters is included. The new fonts are a celebration of distinctive features like the delightful teardrop-shaped bowl of a,b,d,g,p and q, and a general level of elegance not always achieved by inline typefaces. The Post Office Double Line alphabet was used from the early 1970s, in different colours to denote the various parts of the Post Office business which included telecommunications, counter services and the Royal Mail. Even after the Post Office was split into separate businesses in the 1980s, Post Office Counters and Royal Mail continued use of the lettering, and a version can still be seen within the Royal Mail cruciform logo.

The aftertaste of reading the text set in Fer is like reading the letters on old rusty plates somewhere in Southern Europe, hence the name (Fer means iron in French). Being a modern system that includes a variable font with weight and optical size axes, Fer combines the features of geometriс sans serifs and old sans serifs with closed apertures. The typeface contains three sets of styles: for captions, text and headings, — with the weight ranging from regular to black. Fer was created with the idea to unite nations. Neon Bugler is a font based on the third logo created by Harry Warren in early 1975 for his sixth grade class newsletter, The Broadwater Bugler, at Broadwater Academy in Exmore, Virginia, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. This font design has these principles as its parameters: The letters generally follow what would be natural stroke directions; no sharp corners, all gentle turns; no lines back up over each other, cross each other, or run into each other. All of this civility between the lines produces an unintentional but welcome neon quality about it. This font can have a variety of vibes depending on its context--it has a certain nostalgia to it, yet it also has a slick, clean, futuristic look. It can even be used in a semi-grunge setting. Wolby is a rough and organic hand drawn typefamily which draws inspiration from a variety of sources such as sign painting, hand lettering, comic books, cartoons, health food, sticks and stones to name a few. The letter shapes were all originally created by writing with a pointed brush. The use of one writing tool results in an aesthetical harmony between the very different styles making them all fit together. The family consists of eight styles; upright and slanted caps in regular and bold, a layered block style in fill, outline and shadow styles and a lively script. Wolby is capapble of creating very different moods depending on which style you choose to highlight. Because of it’s aesthetics, range of styles and extensive language support, Wolby is especially suitable for use in advertising, packaging design and gritty branding & fashion design. When using the layered block styles you’ll get the best result by placing the shadow layer on the bottom, the fill in the middle and the outline layer on top. These can also be combined freely so you can use just shadow + fill, shadow + outline or fill + outline. The script style is armed with a set of ligatures and swash capitals which allow you to supercharge your designs.
