Havel is an updated interpretation of a Czech type design from the 1930s. It is powerful and very condensed. At a quick glance you might find kinship with other condensed typefaces of the same period, like Spire (Sol Hess, 1937), Onyx (Gerry Powell for ATF, 1937) or Quirinus Bold (Alessandro Butti, 1939). But Havel has its very own look, rooted in the rapidly disappearing "Eastern European Type", a typographical tradition where poster and packaging design were the highlights. Torbjörn Olsson has revived this classical Czech beauty, and the Open Type version, Havel Pro, can also be used for Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian.

There are a lot of narrow passages... like the Straits of Gibraltar, Hormuz, of Malacca, of Thermopylae, the Dardanelles, the Dervenakion, Magellan, Rentina of Naruto, Kerch etc. I tried to pass into mine closely with the name «Artios Pro". Walking on the same considerations as the previous series (Khamai/Aeolus/Corset) I tried to give some sense of diversity for narrow passages of the letters. These twelve style are the result. And here, the "Rail" engage with "Semi Bold" in the same way as the previous series. This series is composed and includes 12 fonts with 625 glyphs each, with true italics and supports Latin, Greek and Cyrillic.

An ad for the annual Variety Club Convention appeared in the March 18, 1940 issue of "The Film Daily. The main headline was hand lettered in a classic Art Deco "solid" style of sans serif - ultra bold and with no counters - but had one additional feature: 'engraved' lines to the left of each character. This has now been expanded into the digital typeface Trade Convention JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. STEEL regular, outline and bold, is a 3-font system that can be layered in different ways to create infinite title effects used commonly in poster and 3D logo design. Steel’s layer combinations give you complete control in producing styles like outline, 3D, and beveled. It can be used alone and/or in layers, and allows you adjust leading and kerning. Each font has similar metrics, so when your title is set, copy and paste-in-place to create layers of different weights/styles to build out your desired effect. Huxley Cyrillic is based on our Huxley Amore Bold, retaining all the Western and Central European characters of the latter, while adding upper and lower case Cyrillic characters. Huxley Cyrillic, like Huxley Amore, is visually simple and direct and yet sophisticated and unexpected. Those are the qualities that give it such freshness in so many applications. This font is intended for display use. It is highly condensed and is therefore difficult to read below 18 points. It works well at 36 points, but really works best at 48 points and larger. Sausage is unapologetically bold and bulbous. Influenced by magnetic fridge letters, hot dogs and 70s phototype fonts, it is retro, but not cloyingly so. It was a deliberate plan to make Sausage only a single style typeface. The freedom that not having to think about how the font should relate to other weights allowed me to push the glyphs to places they might not otherwise have been able to go. There isn't a single corner in the entire font, and you'd be hard pushed to find a straight line. This is as soft and friendly as they come, and still equipped with numerous ligatures, alternates and arrows for sophisticated typography.

The original design came from Berthold Herold typeface, designed by Hermann Hoffmann during 1913 (Art Nouveau style) in Germany. This project started from flyer printed during 1947 with movable type, the specimen was scanned as a source to development some of the uppercase letterforms. However the most unusual and tricky element from this sample is the leg from the uppercase (R) which is different from the original Herold design, until now I didn’t found where this version originally came from. This stencil typeface only contain the bold weight, but there are also available other versions without stencil cuts, like Nouveau LX and Nouveau LX Expanded.
